    L'anello è stupendo,ma perché usare la colla per fissare i due onici?A lungo andare la colla si ossida e le pietre finiscono con lo staccarsi.Non è meglio incastonarle?

    • @scaffoal
      @scaffoal  4 года назад +1

      per esperienza le colle epossidiche hanno una altissima tenuta anche dopo molti anni, inoltre per potere incastonare i cabochon è necessario un bordo più alto che risulterebbe esteticamente diverso, per ultimo in caso che si debba intervenire per una riparazione è possibile smontare le pietre senza danneggiare la struttura. Chiaramente ogni soluzione ha i suoi pro e contro, sono le esperienze lavorative che nel tempo ci fanno fare le scelte che riteniamo più appropriate, non sempre condivise da artigiani, che nella loro storia lavorativa hanno avuto esperienze e trovato soluzioni diverse.

    • @scaffoal
      @scaffoal  4 года назад +4

      It is wrong to use more welding than necessary, the tightness of a weld is determined by many factors, you have to do many tests, then over time you will find the best solution. various factors affect: the type of welding you use, how much it is heated beyond its melting point, the preparation of the object to be welded. If you have a teacher who teaches you, listen to him, his experience can show you the way, then in time you will be able to choose the technique you prefer.

    • @pijnto

      Everyone’s a critic... the guy obviously knows what he’s doing..he’s been a jeweler for a really long time. Don’t you think if he really thought that wouldn’t work he wouldn’t have done it..it’s a beautiful ring and I’m 110% the glued settings will be fine..some epoxy have a strength setting of 2 tons.. that’s a lot hold strength. Love your work!

    • @scaffoal
      @scaffoal  4 года назад +5

      thank you, as you rightly said, this type of glue is extremely resistant, moreover by using glue, we have other advantages, the edge that holds it can be low and aesthetically more pleasant, the stone can be dismantled for a possible repair.

    sorry, but the same effect could be achieved by doing it in wax, then casting

    • @ractorc91
      @ractorc91 4 года назад +2

      Yes it can, but that really doesn't hold the same value as a truly handmade piece. Plus, for a one off, lost wax casting is not really much quicker or easier. There can be a lot of clean-up of a casting and there can be a high chance of failure, depending on your equipment and level of experience.
