An old Irish blessing for both of you..May the road rise to meet you..May the wind be always at your back..May the sun shine warm upon your face.. And the rains fall soft upon your fields.. And until we meet again..May God hold you in the palm of His hand ❤
A little tip for when you get animals for yourself. Whether it be chickens, sheep, ducks or cows, or any other animal you want to keep, put them all in the same place as a Donkey. The Donkey will absolutely annihilate anything that sets foot in that field that shouldn't be in there. Donkeys are better that any other animal at protecting your livestock 😉
Guys... fun vlog... but TIP⚠️.... CUT the vegetation across the road from the entrance... that will widen the road!!!!.. you will also see if there is a drainage ditch there or a wall etc and it will give you more room to manoeuvre the van!! Don't forget country roads grow over very quickly! And farmers and the council don't get around to maintenance very often... so you can do some trimming to widen it where you use it. Also put a mirror on the other side of the road from your entrance, once you have trimmed it all back, so you can see if cars/tractors are coming along the road, when you want to pull out at some point with the van. We do this as standard down in the narrow country lanes of Devon and Cornwall were I grew up.
Hi Emily. Well, my wife only uttered 2 words during this weeks vid which was “Oh yes” and it was when you were stuffing that marshmallow and biscuits in your mouth! We’ve haven’t seen you both so excited and/or relaxed for a long time. I reckon the future of the channel will be short trips followed by an insatiable desire to get home again. However it turns out we’ll all be here. Stay safe girls, regards Reg.
So much fun to watch! If you guys change your mind on the chickens, I heard that all you need are 4 egg laying chickens to sustain a good egg supply. looking forward to next week :)
You girls make me smile so much. Just love your enthusiasm for everything. You're incredibly hard grafters as well - you deserve every second of happiness 😊
Aussies call it a weed eater and not a strimmer, self explanatory, brush cutter - same machine with a blade fitted. You two are so enthusiastic it is fantastic. If this equaled the amount of happiness you both possess at the moment, the house would be done in no time. You both will get this done, no doubt there will be some surprises along the way but nothing you wont resolve. Don’t forget to look after yourself s. We are looking forward to watching how you get along. Sending you both endless enthusiasm. We renovated an old cottage and still live in it. It took many years to finally get it where we want it. It cost double what we expected. We love it - no walls are straight but it has plenty of character. Yours will be just the same in no time. The locals will be delighted to see the home lived in and loved once again.
As much as I’ve enjoyed the quality and content of your travels, I’m beyond excited to watch you two build your dream, one board and stone at a time. Talk about an adventure!
You’ll need to buy your own strimmer because you’ll need to do a whole days strimming once a fortnight you’ll be surprised how quick that all grows back.
Remember don’t cut hedges until birds have stopped nesting. You might prefer a tidy lawn but letting some of it go natural is great for nature and there is bound to be a good farmer that will cut it back once or twice a year? Using the lime for pointing is great as it let the building breathe. Well done both of you and how exciting. ❤
As Francinel said ' measure twice, cut once ' very wise words. We've done a renovation, built a house, then built a restaurant with 2 appartments above and we've recently moved into our last self build, done everything ourselves with help nowadays from our adult children. It's taken us 4 years to build our present house ( we're 61 and 63 ), it took us 18 months to build our first house, we've slowed down a bit with age 😅. I know you're both going to do a fantastic job of your place you've got the positiveness to get there. Go on a trip every 12 weeks to recharge your batteries, that's what we did 😊
Only one word for you, Young Emily! Incorrigible !! The excitement you both portray is tangible. I'm delighted you've found your new home. It's instinctual - you just know it's right. And so do we. This adds a completely new dimension to the channel. Just watch those subs rise!! Thank you so much for continuing to share these special feelings and experiences...
Oh my, I discovered your channel just today and second video I'm watching and bam! I recognise that house! I have been watching the Irish Homestead channel since the beginning. They seem like a good people, it will be nice to know them, they are a bit further with their renovations so they might have a few handy tips for you.
Might drop some of that gravel next to the road where you left tire trenches. And if you can get an operator to come with his own machine for near the cost of renting one that might be a better option. Once you get those fence posts marked out clearly (and the brush trimmed so you can see them) you'll be able to get Fanny in and out. I love to see you realizing this dream!
Louise's extreme talent for filming, Emily's keen script with double sense jokes, trimmed and smooth, Irish magic and green landscapes ... Now we only need some ghosts, fairies and coins. Get ready, this channel is ready to bloom. ¡¡Pura Vida!!
Ladies, you impress the heck out of me. Is there anything you can’t do? I love how you tackle everything with such confidence and enthusiasm! Your home will be so beautiful! All the best to you, AJ, and Summer! From sunny, dry Vacaville, California.
Welcome to Ireland, my favourite place on earth. I love your property, it looks amazing already. I have been following Sam and Becca for a while now so I was delighted to see you visit them. Apply for the empty house grant, or even the deralict grant for your outbuilding. Kind regards from Sligo.

Seeing the smiles on both your faces tonight and AJ and Summer settling in is just amazing. You look so happy in Ireland and looking forward to next week already.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 OMG!!! That shot through the window of Lou dismantling the bed frame with the droopy candle ...... what a statement! I’ve followed the Irish Homestead for a while too - there are lots of old (May not derelict) Irish cottages being brought back to glory on the Net, which is lovely to see, but such a shame they had to be abandoned in the first place
What a great start you’ve made, but one thing I learnt from a Gardener, when you use the strimmer it leaves a lot of loose grass and shrubbery all over the place. The best way to pick it up is just to run the lawnmower over it. It picks up all the grass and packs it nicely into the box. Let me know if this works okay 👍 😘 😘 ❤❤
If those walls could talk.. generations of Mcnabola's that made life so much better...this hospitality and help for all around them.. and later generations bringing their gifts of charm and kindness to other lands...a high bar for Emily and Louise..Good to see, again, the light on the hill... Hello! Lovely to hear from another neighbour 😃 we will certainly do our best to live up to the past residents of this beautiful place. So far the whole local community have been so kind and we are so very grateful for that. Gerry, you must say hello if you’re ever passing by 😃
Nice to see you have nice helpful neighbours, and what a surprise to see Sam and Toby, I have been watching their Channel since they started their renovation project. It looks like Heaven.
Oh girls, it looks amazing. The potential and building it yourselves. If it takes 3 years so what. It takes as long as it takes. Be happy and enjoy this exciting project. Xx
Oh my goodness - a small world. When I saw your project and the stone walls, I thought "they'll be doing something similar to The Irish Homestead channel I bet" and then you drove right up to them in this episode! I have been watching The Irish Homestead channel, just started watching yours, and here you are visiting said channel. A meeting of the minds, what a pleasant surprise. Thats cool.
You two take multitasking to new levels. I applaud your efforts and skill. As if it weren’t difficult enough to actually do the renovations and take care of the animals but you’re filming it too!?
We bought a lake and a a bit of land. No buildings. Weekend just shutting the gate was just such a relaxing feeling. To have have your home on it as well you are blessed.😍
Can I just say that watching this video has filled me with so much joy I cant put it into words. Its really uplifted me and seeing the smiles on your faces, and seeing Summer and AJ absolutely gelling with your new home...words can not express. You vision, your hopes and your joy in making them a reality, well , Lou and Em, I cant think of any couple I'd want it more for. I think we are in for a little bit of Lou and Em magic from now on. Thank you, lots of love to you both and the furbies. I'm grinning from ear to ear. Much respect🙏- Kenny
Another cracking video Louise. Enjoyed your Read The F’ing Manual routine! Emily very impressive with the strimmer. And CJ and Summer enjoying their new home. I almost shared The Irish Homestead channel with you - little did I know! Sunday is becoming a high spot in my week. Our well was drilled last week - first step in the renovations it’s taken us 25 years to work up to!
Louise, we moved cross country from northern New Jersey, 30 minutes from New York City and arrived in Phoenix, Arizona I fully understand we felt comfortable and where we were supposed to be. We've been in Arizona now for just over 20 years. Time flies when your where you're supposed to be with who you're meant to be with. crack on, measure twice cut once and be safe, happy and full of adventure.
Oooh I'm so Excited for you both ...❤I can't wait to see the before and after pics ...And how lovely you have a neighbour who you can visit and lend things from ..Good luck girlie's ❤
My wife and myself did our 120 foot drive and 30 foot square parking with block paving years ago and it’s still great. We did loads of research and the BEST advice was from a Groundworkers site called ‘The Brew Cabin’ great guys and sound advice about all sorts related, layout, methods, drains etc. we also bought our blocks from the Marshalls site. They do various batches of blocks, over production, end of line etc. superb value and a great service. Good luck with the project girls - Jealous of Kenilworth.
The black thing is a mulching plug. You don’t need the catcher with that. Just remember 4 stroke oil. If touching the blades remove spark plug cap as blades can start on manual hand rotation.
30 years having a petrol mower , never thought to disconect the sparky plug till you mention it. 🤭 always used a mountfield with briggs stratton motor built to last.
Oh girls, I am so delighted and surprised that you know Sam ans Becca. I have been following their hard graff online since the beginning, and last week, almost recommended their channel to you. I also follow Domaine Sauvage which is in France, but English spoken. So glad that you live in the same area of Ireland. Terrific the work they are doing. Luckily, your project is less daunting and you do not have the kids, donkey cats and dogs to look after. I wish you the very best and much happiness in that lovely country. I was so lucky to live there a couple of years and tour the entire island. I can't wait to see your progress.
Girls I’m delighted for ye. I follow Sam and Becca too! Do you know Ben and Dawn from the Corner House Project? They are English, doing up a derelict house too. Ye’ll have a nice ex Pat community if you all met up. I’m sure they would have loads of advice for ye.
Hi Girls. I have been following Sam and Rebecca for months. Can’t believe it when you two showed up. Just started your journey. Good Luck. Regards John. X
So glad to see all of the stress gone from your faces. You are Building together and that is beautiful to see. Easy days Ladies... and once again congratulations 🎉
And so begins new chapter of your lives. Go for it. May I suggest buying tools from Facebook marketplace and local auctions? If nothing else small town auctions and car boots make a nice day out.
That black bit is a mulcher, take of the basket and it will screw some where above the blade, what it does is chuck what you cut back on the blade so you dont have to pick it up
CONGRATULATIONS… I live in the U.S., here we have an expression about restoring old homes. We call it “sweat equity”. Every hour you spend on your new, old house is money in the bank. You made a wonderful investment AND you will have fun. I have restored two old homes and loved every minute of both projects.
It'll be so worth it once completed! We're about to start renovations on our "new" old home in Scotland but on a much smaller scale - your excitement/energy is contagious. Feeling inspired now!
It'll be hard work so enjoy yourselves along the way, Rome wasn't built in a day and all that. Excited for you two, it's so many people's dream to upsticks and move to the rurals
When I saw the first clip with the donkey, I thought that looks like Toby and it was 😀, I've been following their channel since the start. How amazing to see the hare. Looking forward to seeing your renovations.
To be honest, if you plan on fruit trees you should plant ASAP. If your Reno takes 2 years you won't be far off having producing trees. Plan well first though.
@@karennewberry4694 The year after, my wife bought a monkey puzzle tree from a car boot sale. It was about a foot high and cost £2.50. It's now 20 feet high and last year I grew 7 new trees from its seeds. Nothing this year though. I think it has to be super dry weather.
Watch out with stripping the walls! These old cottages very often are filled with rubble. It's the rendering keeps it together! So nice to see these cottages are done up!!
Sorry I was late with this Comment.. was visiting in Cotswolds… with no Wi-Fi!!!..Anyway hope you are able to read this, you two….so exciting!!….. glad you have some ‘mates nearby doing their own ‘reno’.. excellent news.. you can help each other over time .. 👏👍🤞… Full marks to Em for the mowing… and the sorting the mower assembly too… 10 out of 10..,,and a bit less for Louise ( sorry)…. Good idea to see the potential of the huge barn space… while you are tackling the cottage ‘stuff’… so that you can keep dry relax and have the van safely parked… Also take it in easy stages.. and be patient with the progress you are able to make and you won’t get overwhelmed or disappointed either.Love how you already feel at home there and that AJ and Summer will soon be able to roam around and get used to new surroundings… and AJ cannot wander off but have a safe area on the property. Did you read my suggestion about using one of those outbuildings as a workshop Louise?( near to the house and electricity supply)… Your new friends will soon have loads of corrugated sheets from their old roof that might come in handy!!!…if they won’t need them straight away 🤫🤞….Hopefully the van will soon be able to get to the barn ‘park up’… and the track and ground can be made substantial enough to be used regularly?!…. Onwards and Upwards Louse and Emily… You have the beginnings of a wonderful new HOME 👏👏👏…. Sue ..( and big Fan Nan ) as Always…❤️😄😄
You will need a strimmer. Trust me. A strimmer and a leaf blower are two things you absolutely cannot keep a decent sized property tidy without unless you intend to spend forever on doing stuff like raking and sweeping etc.
@@campervibe Honestly, get a decent sized one. Not a bent shaft, lightweight model. Straight shaft with handlebars. Preferably a Husqvarna, Stihl, Oleo-Mac, Echo etc. Basically something exactly like you borrowed. Something repairable and with enough power to cut heavy grass. A few quid extra will save you a fortune down the line and make light work of big jobs a smaller one wouldn’t be able for. Sounds excessive but trust me on this. I, unfortunately, know of what I speak 😂
Oh dear, 7484. It's actually crack, from a saxon word meaning cracking, as in good. Bit of "Gaelification" going on there with that spelling. I know the Gaelic language is older than the anglo saxon, but ALL languages have thieved words from others Just waiting for the brickbats, they're sure to come ! Have a nice day, which comes from the US, apparently.
@@blackbob3358As the girls have come here to Ireland to live and there are a lot of Irish subscribers to the channel it would be appreciated if the term craic was used. For us Gaeilgeoirs it means fun, high spirits, a mighty night out, a good laugh etc. I was taught in school that it was a word that came over with the Scottish Gaelic speakers who settled mainly in what is now known as Northern Ireland. Whatever the origin this is how we spell it and this is what it means to us. I don't mean to sound touchy but our language is, slowly diminishing and there is only a small percentage of Irish, mainly living in the Gaeltach regions that speak it as our first language.
Did you add 0.6l of mower gearbox oil? It only comes with a tiny amount of oil to keep inside lubricated but not enough actually using the mower.that plastic part is if you want to ‘mulch’ the grass instead of collecting it. Mulch in it double cuts the sword (grass blade) and scatters it over the lawn. Great in droughts and keeps moss from growing, especially if you cut the lawn too low. You can use that mower as a garden shredder by cutting down your shrubs, weeds and bushes and lay on your lawn and run the mower over it, set cutting hight high!
Don’t forget about hedgehogs. Lots of them get injured through strimming and if you ever see one injured, then take it to a wildlife rescue centre as vet’s just put them to sleep when in fact they might be saved. Here in England there are people dedicated to rescuing hedgehogs and are more knowledgeable on them than vet’s
Still so excited for you. You’ve picked an amazing spot and how lucky to not only have a good community around you but another couple doing a similar thing. I think you’ll be so happy here
Emily and Louise, we saw you on Monday when we were leaving Sam and Becka's and we waved from our blue Vauxhall with UK plates. Isn't it ironic that we lived near you in Kent but it took moving to Ireland to actually pass you on te road. Looking forward to bumbing into you in the future. Charles, Rachael and Dolly Dog..
I'm so happy for all of you, especially the fourlegged travellers, to have a "basecamp" where you can wind down. (eventually) Em looked so happy strapping up before heading into the bush... If you move the gatepost a bit further up your driveway there will be enough room to turn Fanny around and line up. And I'm with you on getting someone to do the driveway, there will be plenty of opportunity to rent a mini-excavator and do projects later, and a driveway is needed to get all the material and machines to do all the other stuff. As soon as you start the renovation, neighbours will turn up, and if you ask around you might be able to borrow a lot of stuff you only need temporary, they most likely have done their own renovations and has gathered tools for it

Aw thank you and so glad that it did 😀😀
Your energy is infectious. Hats off to you, what a great move!😃
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
Louise, we moved cross country from northern New Jersey, 30 minutes from New York City and arrived in Phoenix, Arizona I fully understand we felt comfortable and where we were supposed to be. We've been in Arizona now for just over 20 years. Time flies when your where you're supposed to be with who you're meant to be with. crack on, measure twice cut once and be safe, happy and full of adventure.
Oh wow that’s amazing you feel like that 😀
Oooh I'm so Excited for you both ...❤I can't wait to see the before and after pics ...And how lovely you have a neighbour who you can visit and lend things from ..Good luck girlie's ❤
I am overwhelmed by the amount of work this will take, but I sure enjoy your enthusiasm over your new home!
Amazing, thank you
The black thing is a mulching plug. You don’t need the catcher with that. Just remember 4 stroke oil. If touching the blades remove spark plug cap as blades can start on manual hand rotation.
Wow thats a great hit, as i changed my mower blade yesterday .
@@thelmalewis7870 40 years industry experience ha! Just passing on the knowledge
30 years having a petrol mower , never thought to disconect the sparky plug till you mention it. 🤭 always used a mountfield with briggs stratton motor built to last.
@@thelmalewis7870 sadly, i witnessed two incidents in my career severed fingers caused by this …
You guys look so much more relaxed now that you have found home!
Great start you two. Love your enthusiasm its infectious. Sunday teatime wouldn't be the same without your vlog. 😊
Girls I’m delighted for ye. I follow Sam and Becca too! Do you know Ben and Dawn from the Corner House Project? They are English, doing up a derelict house too. Ye’ll have a nice ex Pat community if you all met up. I’m sure they would have loads of advice for ye.
🎉Go Lassies !!! Your enthusiasm is infectious, cant wait to see your progress.. as i said before.. "If anyone can, you can"!!🎉❤From Glasgow🏴
I am so glad you've met Sam and Rebecca!
And so begins new chapter of your lives.
Go for it.
May I suggest buying tools from Facebook marketplace and local auctions?
If nothing else small town auctions and car boots make a nice day out.
Oh yeah we will definitely me using them 😀
That black bit is a mulcher, take of the basket and it will screw some where above the blade, what it does is chuck what you cut back on the blade so you dont have to pick it up
You should be going to tv with your story about your exploring and renovation...top class ❤❤❤
You reminded me I can watch this on my tv screen 🙂
CONGRATULATIONS… I live in the U.S., here we have an expression about restoring old homes. We call it “sweat equity”. Every hour you spend on your new, old house is money in the bank. You made a wonderful investment AND you will have fun. I have restored two old homes and loved every minute of both projects.
It'll be so worth it once completed! We're about to start renovations on our "new" old home in Scotland but on a much smaller scale - your excitement/energy is contagious. Feeling inspired now!
Very exciting 😀😀
I’m still on catch- up, so excited for you guys, I’ve been watching Sam And Becky from the beginning, glad you have made friends with them xx
So jealous lol
Great to see after just a few days things have already changed
Still so pleased for you both
So good to see Sam didn’t realise they were so close to you, they are such a lovely family. Good luck.
It'll be hard work so enjoy yourselves along the way, Rome wasn't built in a day and all that. Excited for you two, it's so many people's dream to upsticks and move to the rurals
It will indeed but downtime will be had for sure 😀
What a breath of fresh air you both are. I wish you well with your renovations. Greetings from New Forest.
There's nothing like establishing a home base. A place where you can always come back to and decompress.
When I saw the first clip with the donkey, I thought that looks like Toby and it was 😀, I've been following their channel since the start. How amazing to see the hare. Looking forward to seeing your renovations.
They are a lovely family
Mountfield mowers, good choice.
I’m so glad you are wearing a mask doing that clear out. What a great start to the reno’s
Look at those smiles 🥰
Thought replacing a kitchen,, sorting rear garden and some windows was enough work 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I love that you think you'll only need a big strimmer once!!!!!! Bless you. Don't turn your back on the brambles and weeds then. 😅
😂😂🙈
I love the pine dresser and mirror in the bedroom. Very rustic.
When we moved into our new build in 1985 I was concentrating on sorting the garden out. My wife rollicked me to get the house out first,
To be honest, if you plan on fruit trees you should plant ASAP.
Great to make friends with the neighbors! 😊❤
Ohhh it's Camper Vibe O'clock 😊😊😊
Worth adopting ‘No Mow May’ if you let your grass grow in May you’ll see all sorts of wild flowers emerge and it’s great for insects and wildlife. X
This looks amazing. So happy for all of you. 👏🏻❤️✌️
Watch out with stripping the walls! These old cottages very often are filled with rubble. It's the rendering keeps it together! So nice to see these cottages are done up!!
Good Irish luck on your project on your new home ladies
Oh yeah we will get one just not a massive one mind
@@campervibe Honestly, get a decent sized one. Not a bent shaft, lightweight model. Straight shaft with handlebars. Preferably a Husqvarna, Stihl, Oleo-Mac, Echo etc. Basically something exactly like you borrowed. Something repairable and with enough power to cut heavy grass. A few quid extra will save you a fortune down the line and make light work of big jobs a smaller one wouldn’t be able for. Sounds excessive but trust me on this. I, unfortunately, know of what I speak 😂
Weldone ladies,More people should do what you’re doing, too many derelict houses in the countryside now.☘️
You’ve got to call the new place The Crac
Don: its "Craic" (pronounced Crack)
Craic 😂
Craic Vibe? It’s not all about Vanlife now!
Nice to c u have teamed up with Sam and Becky there knowledge will help u with the cottage
We did add oil, it goes in a different section 🙂
@@campervibe I know, I sold them at B&at for 17 years. Keep it clean!
Great property lasses. You can see you all look really at home there & enjoying it. Happy days!❤
Hillarious ...Thanks.......I'm sure you'll have lots of laughs together I'm looking forward to it
Don’t forget about hedgehogs. Lots of them get injured through strimming and if you ever see one injured, then take it to a wildlife rescue centre as vet’s just put them to sleep when in fact they might be saved. Here in England there are people dedicated to rescuing hedgehogs and are more knowledgeable on them than vet’s
There are indeed, we had a hedgehog rescue close to where we used to live. Everything was checked before strimming took place 🙂
Still so excited for you. You’ve picked an amazing spot and how lucky to not only have a good community around you but another couple doing a similar thing. I think you’ll be so happy here
We think so too 😀
Oh, the hard hard work, but the joy and pride when finished, oh JOY. :)
The Van Wives have done a fantastic job of renovating their old cabin in Canada, you ladies can do it too.
Oh really, I’m not sure we saw you guys waving 🤦🏻♀️ hope you are having a brilliant time in Ireland
I'm so happy for all of you, especially the fourlegged travellers, to have a "basecamp" where you can wind down. (eventually)
Em looked so happy strapping up before heading into the bush...
As soon as you start the renovation, neighbours will turn up, and if you ask around you might be able to borrow a lot of stuff you only need temporary, they most likely have done their own renovations and has gathered tools for it
Yeah people like to have a nose right so could be a good thing 😂
