So nice to watch a tutorial that just gets straight to the point and tells you exactly what you need in as few words as possible. Well done.
Our QUICK TIPS generally try to do this as well.
Exactly my thought! This must've been one of very few super-clear and on point videos I've seen.
We have a handful of similar quality. These take a lot of time to perfect, unfortunately, and we're more interested in quantity of content, than (near perfect)quality content.
@@adskFusion Insanely well done video - I really miss finding something like this that deals with assemblies.
We keep going back to Alibre Design because we cannot get imported assemblies to work properly, and continue modelling in Fusion without getting stuck with some feature that we cannot get placed right.
Not sure why these Taylor Stein videos don't get as much traction as others. I find they are always direct, quick paced, well formatted, incredibly informative. I wish there were more.
agreed, very concise and easy to understand tutorials, sadly he doesn't upload on his own channel
I totally agree. I love the to-the-point presentation. It really helps people like me who need concise info without all the fluff.

Great video, thanks!
Coincident doesn't seem to exist anymore in 2022, great video but it looks like it would need an upgrade.
Never mind it is there, I didn't realize there were more constraints available in the drop down menu.
Brilliant tutorial! I feel like I went from understanding the basics of a few constraints to being able to use them all, in less than 10 minutes.
Thank you, Thank you.... Quick & straight to the point with no bumbling. Subscribed!
Sweet. Thanks for taking the time to show these fundamental tools. Too often ignored at our own peril. Love the pacing of your vids.
Thanks so much for this tutorial. I'm an old Blender user (+7 years) and I have recently been learning how to use fusion 360 and this tutorial is priceless!
Thanks for showing the smooth and symmetry constraints, I can definitely use them.
Thank you! Sketch constraints are really under documented for the amount of power they provide. This video really clarifies the differences.
Taylor, i've seen literally seen 1000s of videos of various subjects. I gotta tell ya... "BEST PRESENTATION EVER" !
That's a huge help, So much to learn , you could probably design my boat in an hour. I wish you would make a series from beginner to expert using just one teacher such as yourself. Your videos are right to the point without a bunch of chatter. I feel like I'm starting in the middle trying to find videos I can learn from. Thank you!!
Thank you for an excellent explanation. It all looks so simple... And is.
Then an hour later I've forgotten a huge chunk of it!
Bookmarked for future reference. Thank you!!
Susi xx
best explanation ever!
I've been wanting to learn what all those constraints do in Fusion 360 for a long time and finally now I get it. Thanks for making this great tutorial video, it helped me understand an important part of Fusion 360 that I didn't want to bother experimenting with to figure out.
Really need similar knowledge when we are outside the sketch environment
How does one determine which entity moves and which remains in its original co-ordinate position? For example, if one makes a line tangent to a circle, sometimes the line moves, sometimes the circle moves. How does on determine which will occur?
Didn't have to go on a ride to the store with him and his grandma, to go grocery shopping (like so many other vids) before he got to the point. Clear, concise, and very fluid narration. Thank you. You got my attention; just Sub'd and liked.
This is great. Just started using fusion and these videos are a massive help!
That really cleared some things up. Thank you
I have my certification tomorrow. This is a very quick review and an excellent tutorial. Thank you.
Exactly what I needed. Great tutorial Thank you!
Thanks Taylor, that was awesome. Quite often it's the little things that make life so much easier. Cheers
This is how every tutorial should be like. Prepared and clear and no rambling introductions. Great job!
This was really helpful! I struggle the most with understanding how & when to use which constraint and the little pictures aren't easy to understand.
Thank You! great breakdown!
Great overview! Thanks Taylor.
Thank you for this very helpful video! It helped me a lot! Is there an easy and elegant way to align rectangles over their centres?
Thanks for doing these tips. Can always pick up a new things.
This was a great lesson thank you
fantastic video, thank you!
This "must see" video is awesome! Thanks!
Great video for quickly learning constraints!
Brilliant video. I have a question though. Why is Fusion allowing you to use a symmetry constraint & a midpoint constraint on the same geometry? It's fundamentally over constraining it.
Perfect video. Thanks!
Thank you. Very helpful.
Great tutorial and well presented. I still have trouble trying to get sketches fully constrained and changing to black.
That was super helpful Thank you for sharing.
Great video on Fusion 360 constraints. Do you have one on moving sketch objects, bodies and components? I find your presentation style easy to understand. Thanks.
Excellent video!
These are fantastic, thanks.
Great tutorial!!!!
Perfect! thank you.
Very helpful. Thank you
SO helpful, thank you
Great vid, thank you !
Fantastic explaination
Thank you.i love fusion
Great video thank you for making it
Today I learned about the fix constraint, thanks
Great video thanks!
Thank you for sharing this informative video! 🐱🖐🏻
good tutorial, thanks
Excellent presentation, fast , clear & effective
Thank you
Thank you! Old but SOOO good. Gotta keep it despite UI differences.
Very very useful.
Thank You!! :)
Thank you so much
Hi Taylor, awesome tutorial! Like the way you expalin thing in your video. I have a quick question! Can it be posible to copy a sketch line? how is this done?
Thank you.
JM
Thank you for clarifying! and so concisely!
Major part of why its included in the "Essentials for New Users" playlist. Make sure to check the others out too!
well done......Thank You
Damn cool. Helped me a lot!
Thank You!!!
Another great video! Simple topic but always get something new out of these:....G2 curvatures where have you been all my life! ha
thank you! this is exactly the kind of thing beginners need!
Glad you found it! We try to make this content stand out!
Excellent!!
Is there any way to sketch _without_ constraints being added until you assign them? I find I use most of my time tracking down and deleting constraints that Fusion has decided I'd like. Lines become fixed to other lines, moving a circle drags half the drawing around, etc. I'd love to be able to just sketch without constraints and then go back in once I'm sure of the design intent... Can I delete only constraints within a selected boundary for instance..?
from autodesk's website - "While there is no option to turn off or disable the creation of automatic sketch constraints, you may avoid them by holding the CTRL key (CMD on Mac OS). "
Great video. Thank you :-)
thank You for excellent tutorial !
Thank you for watching!
Awesome!!!!
Thanks !!! Very valuable information in this video !!!
Thanks Pascal!
Great videos, Taylor. Could you do one on sketching on multiple planes in 3d space and applying constraints to those sketches to create rails for Loft? I'm having a hell of a time. I can use constraints no problem on a single plane but they don't seem to have the same properties when there are multiple planes in 3d space. T-spline handles can't be manipulated either. I am clearly doing something wrong!
Excellent. Clearly explained, visual and verbal descriptions are in sync and paced well. Very little "glossing over" or skipping vital information (perhaps I missed it, but the order that entities are selected seems to matter) No extra words, I imagine this is how William Strunk talked. Thanks for making!
Thanks much for such a kind comment! We'll try to make more like this!
thank a lot dude !
very useful video
This is a great lesson!!!
Thanks Marco! Great teacher, Taylor is.
Perfectly to the point !
Yuuup! Big fan of all of Taylor's work!
Great tutorial. Thanks. My question is how do I disable a previously assigned constraint. For example, I have a 4 sided geometry and I added a = constraint, but then decided it would be better if the two equal parts are no longer needed, one now needs to be longer than the other, but I can't figure out how to disable that = constraint. Thanks again.
Click on the restraint symbol on the sketch, then hit the delete key
Hi. thanks for this tutorial video!. i want to ask...upon creating an object, it shows as a blue line whether circle, rectangle...another tutorial is saying that objects created should turn to black from blue before moving on to drawing and modelling.. i couldnt get my object to black even i set it in the Preview ( Preferences).... how significant is turning my objects to black line? pls advise...thanks!
This is such a good vid on explaining those constrains. But, forgot one of the most important things. So, for anyone who want to know how to delete constrains. You just got to click on them and hit "backspace" to delete them.
thx
Hi nice video, I’m new to fusion. I’m trying to figure out how to make a 2d drawing for a truck grill using a hexagonal pattern. I used the polygon tool and made the hexagons .500” opening and about .125” spacing between each but I don’t know how to use the constraints to line up the center points of each hexagon. Please help 🙏
It’s really helpful
Thanks!
good good now how the hell do i specify the angle of a line when drawing it?
Anyone know if the fix constraint works with splines? I'm drawing a fuselage the outline contains two long splines.....
When drawing crossmembers, I apply constraints to assure they are parallel and of a certain width.... the crossmembers are distorting the spline as drawn.
I'm having trouble constraining the splines so as not to be influenced by additions to the sketch. Any thoughts appreciated
excellent thanks
Thanks for watching!
this wasn't a good video, it was AWESOME!!!
Everyone have the constrains on the sketch palete but i dont have them there is there any way to put the constrains option on the sketch palete ?
Круто, спасибо
Great video, How do I move a center point rectangle to a new center point?
You'd have to break the existing constraint (assuming there is one). Once you do so, you should be able to move freely.
Hi ! how can i fuse 2 points to link two paths of vectorization or to link two line to get a single object ? Thank you.
so I am stuck on how to get a curved end on a profile.
draw 2 lines 90 degrees to create a corner. Offset the corner by 10mm. Join the 2 ends with a curve and you have a 90 degree corner with curved ends - great. Increase the offset and the curves increase to match - great. BUT - decrease the offset to 5mm and the curves disappear and/or break. Tried it with 2 point circle and trim - same thing, they break. How can I drive these end curves to work with the offset without having to reference the offset formula? Thanks
In inventor you see a message below that everything is constraint in your sketch. How do you see this in fusion 360?
I'm trying to position a hole in a PCB board in Fusion 360's sketch mode. I've tried setting a dimension constraint between the circumference and the rectangle that represents the PCB, but Fusion refuses. How would you position a circle in a sketch relative to a rectangle?
Why did it change the size of the rectangle when you set a colinear constraint between the side of the rectangle and the line? Shouldn't it just make that portion of the line shared without changing the dimensions of the rectangle?
Can you please add annotations to this video (possibly over the top of the constraints window on the right since it doesn't move throughout the video) that act like a table of contents so when a viewer clicks on it, it skips forward in the video to the corresponding constraint they are looking for making it a lot more convenient. Anyway, thanks for the tips, it helped me a lot :)
hey! im having a issue where i cant edit model sketch width like the dimension it just says in bottom right corner failed error constraints and dimensions any advice ? :) or how to fix it! or if i have to make a new sketch ?
What did you do to deselect the coincident constraint at 0:28. After I select the point and the line, the coincident constraint stays selected, but you must have done something to deselect it at 0:28
This is the best demonstration of constraints I've seen. Very well done.
I frequently use the horizontal/vertical constraint with the midpoint of a line. Recently, the midpoint (x) of a line doesn't show up anymore and I'm unable to assign this constraint. Any thoughts/ideas as to why this is not happening?
Great video. Thanks!
Great question! As of a recent update, you'll have to hold 'shift' to have these midpoints appear when applying constraints.
Works perfectly! Thank You.
Somehow I missed this change in the release notes...
Doesn't for me. Another update?
Hold down shift and the midpoint "X" shows up now....
Excellent explanation, however I just deleted a whole sketch because I couldn’t figure out how to remove constraint and reposition holes.
Great video... How do you constrain two offset splines so that they remain parallel?
Did you use an offset feature? It should automatically add an "offset constraint", which will ensure the proper offset. If you deleted that, I believe the only way to bring it back is to re-make the offset feature.
@@adskFusion Yes but when I move the original line around it gets all jacked up.
I'm impressed you don't waste time with snaps/grids just like a SW user. In fact, you might want to show all the newbies how to "shut off/hide" those features and clutters. Most tutorials waste many minutes explaining how to use /setup snaps and grids. Totally useless if you are a serious designer who will be dimensioning/specifying "everything".
have some constrains been removed? i cannot find equal, smooth in latest
very good tutorial ! thx
