  • In this video I tried to sync the Soma Laboratory Pulsar-23 drum modules with other gear by midi. I used the Morningstar FX MC6 MK2 midi controller for that.
I’ve decided to use the Hologram Microcosm’ looper in Quantize mode synced to the Pulsar’s beat.
I should say it was a nightmare and ass pain to close the loop right in time - it always tended to be longer for several beats. No matter how precise I tried to press buttons for In and Out points. I never had an issue with other loopers that have quantize option. Might be the issue of a long loop though. It’s a problem that you cannot change this quantization tolerance in Microcosm.
Another unpleasant feature of the Microcosm is that you cannot change the transition time when changing the loop speed. You should live with what you have.
The third problem that was not covered here is that when you play with the Microcosm’s looper for a long period of time it starts to cut high frequencies of the overdubbed layers right after you record them. Only reboot can help.
Microcosm is a nice pedal, but I cannot shake the feeling that it is still very raw and need a lot of upgrades in many parts.

Альбом - дело хорошее. Ресурсов внутренних пока на такое свершение не хватает. Всему свое время)

Lovely music, Mikhail. I agree with you about the Microcosm - in fact, I've just sold mine as it doesn't really suit the music I make in Quotidian Dream Lab. I like the looper in Volante a lot for the adjustable ramp down and degradation. What I particularly like in this piece is the way the delay is an integral part of your melody. Bravo!

Thanks! What disappointed me in Volante's looper was its mono. This is a great (my favorite) delay pedal that works super effective in stereo field. But the looper is in mono... But thanks for reminding me about it. Gonna give it the second chance)

Damn - I hadn't realized that the looper is mono.

Beautiful composition! Awesome playing and use of the effect's (so tastefully done) - syncing via midi and the MC6 is my NEXT step in my journey of ambient music! I've had it for month's BUT still haven't set it up! I've been intimidated but you have just shared the inspiration I needed. Thank You!
(I'm new to midi in this form, being playing guitar synth's for year's with the lead side my Chapman Stick - pedal's are my passion so should have implemented year's ago to take advantage of all the extra feature's gained).

Thanks! It might be breathtaking when all the pedals start to work as one organism. Needs tuning and understanding, but certainty deserves trying.
