As a Warrior fan, I think it was the punch that did it, but for a different reason. Jordan Poole has been playing awfully this season. Like down right atrocious. He has shot us out of games, he gets in over his head and turns the ball over a lot on dribble drives and he is so bad on the defensive end he genuinely might as well not be there. Dray punched the talent out of Jordan. It also doesnt help that Wiggins has been MIA (prayers up for what ever is going on with him) and he might not come back at all. Payton wont play till the playoffs. We've had no backup to Looney and Dray and just get absolutely cooked when theyre not on the floor. We've relied on two way players (the only two way player to make it onto a team during the dynasty was Damion Lee and he was often scolded by the fan base). Curry has been injured. Klay has been streaky. Moody and PBJ dont get playing time. Donte and Kuminga have been a saving grace for us but they cant do everything.

There’s still flashes of that greatness but you can tell he’s not confident anymore and I think it’s because of draymond.

I can’t leave all the blame on Green although he is at the root of it all. The slap on the wrist that he received for slugging a teammate, as a team leader, messed up the chemistry and disrupted what culture they had. 4 preseason games and a fine just doesn’t say much to the offender about how serious management and ownership took it. They were unfortunately more concerned with the leak of the video than the assault of a teammate that was at the root of it all.

Did Draymond become sorry before saying so ? A hollow apology is actually a threat. It says 'I have the power to socially punch down on you anytime, and get away with it'.
It has that power till someone with the power to do so, holds Draymond's feet to the fire, or holds him accountable, or he comes out and level's with everyone on his own.

Yep, the season was over the minute that punched happened, the fact that the locker room leader would punch a young teammate in the face and ownership done nothing about sunk any chance of a repeat. The franchise picked winning and chasing a ring over establishing a culture and it cost them in the end.

Another factor not being discussed is the league itself has evolved and GSW might be a victim of their own success. In prior seasons the gap in ORTG between the Dubs and the average NBA team was well over 10 points, now it is half that. Nearly all teams playoff have at least one decent 3&D player and one guy who can hit over 38% from 3. So any defensive failings stand out even more

Back in school I got into a few fights and it is odd but I would usually become friends with whoever I got into a fight with. It happened a handful of times, not to mention the times I got into fights with my brother. And each time I fought my bro it ended up bringing us closer. Can this situation mirror those? I don’t know. But the chance is there. They just have to make sure they address it maturely face to face with good will and good intentions. I guess it comes down to egos. Can Draymond be sufficiently contrite and can Jordan be sufficiently forgiving? That is the question.

@@synthetic_sports perhaps so. if it is however a team vibe thing i think it would have affected games in its totality not just away games. If a team hates each other or if there's a lack of trust it will show or spill out eventually. in this day and age rumours and reports would have been out. If a punch could be released to the public behind closed doors how can rumours or whispers of team disunity and bad blood not? but all that aside i do believe that the punch has wrecked poole's confidence not only as a player but on his place on this team. That is true.

Would love it if the Warriors just gave up a future pick and traded Draymond for a solid defense, high energy, young player. Doesn't have to be anyone awesome, Draymond isn't that awesome. Jordan Poole did kinda have to go, but maybe it was because of Draymond? The Warriors' best chance at another title is not with the old core. Their best chance is getting young but talented guys around Steph who play good defense and don't turn the ball over. Of course that's abstract and harder than it sounds but I'm no basketball expert.

The punch is part of it but it did not wreck them. It’s the fact that they can’t play the same way they have from 2015-2019. And what I mean by that is that they played defense at home more than they did on the road. On the road they just tried out score teams which was easy given the pieces they had. They don’t have those types of players now. They don’t have KD. The chemistry is just not like it was before.

Plus ever since January, I have lost Faith in Jordan Poole, He's in Over his Head and he thinks he's already Great, but his Inconsistencies have Hurt the Dubs too.
Now its time to Trade away Jordan Poole, and Moses Moody for a Center who can help the Dubs on Defense, and Scoring in the Paint and from the Outside. I suggest trade Pools and Moody for either Rudy Gobert, Jusuf Nurkic, Myles Turner or Jaren Jacksom

The punch was bad. But if it was 'that' bad, it would still affect their home games. They just start getting crazy with shooting risky threes instead of going to the paint, which they do every so often and it pays off. So even if the defense isn't great, they don't fall so far behind. Draymond always hustles. Dante always hustles. Curry always hustles. Looney always hustles. Poole has flashes of greatness; but man, he gets goofy and sloppy and maybe just starts showboating a bit much which leads to turnovers. Klay is having a great season since January, but it still feels inconsistent. And too often I see him just stand around, while Curry is scurrying around the court like a jackrabbit nonstop.
I think they have a chance. If they make it to the playoffs, they will do very well against the other teams in 7 game playoffs. But now I'm not sure they'll even get there.
And in a way... I do wonder if they are 'taking it easy' on the road to save up energy. Feeling they're good enough to keep a spot in the playoff seed and take it from there. But that's a risky move. Who knows?
