once had a computer with exactly the same case. even then I wondered how it is possible to do such horror when there are so many good examples of successful design of cases
Wow... This case is the same as my very first own PC (also a P200MMX) came in in '96, what a throwback! I don't have the case anymore. :( But I do have some of the hardware from it still (processor, memory, video card(s)). I wonder if I could find one of these cases somewhere.
I’m late to the party (just discovered your channel). This turned out very nice. I figured the wood grain didn’t cover the whole outside of the case, that’s why it was painted first. That previous color was ewww
Thanks! Yeah that blue paint was pretty rough as well with runs etc all over it which would have shown through the woodgrain. Plus I just wanted a nice clean surface for the woodgrain to bond to. Thanks for the view!
10v for 12v seems very low. Maybe that's why the hdd had issues ? Other than this, very good restoration ! Although why did you repaint the cover of you ended up putting woodgrain on it ? ^^ Also is the CPU running at 2.8v or 3.3 ? The fact it was originally configured for 120 makes me think it was originally a p120 that got upgraded to a pmmx but jumpers weren't changed x)
Yeah maybe that is why the hdd wasnt too happy.. This is a very old and well-used power supply, so maybe it is also on its way out - we'll find out soon! re repainting: the paint on the old cover was rough with lots of runs etc, and I was worried it would show through the woodgrain paper, so I wanted a nice clean surface for it to stick to. Also, you would be able to see the blue paint on the edges that werent wrapped if I didnt paint it, so I just decided to paint the whole thing.. I like painting things.. You may very well be right about someone just chucking in a 200 mmx cpu in place of a 120. I did change the jumpers to 66mhz fsb and 3X multiplier once I saw it was a 200mhz cpu though..
The blue paint was very badly done and very rough (paint runs etc) Also, there are parts that arent covered by the woodgrain where you could see the blue.. Plus I just like painting things.. :)

Well done. Really enjoyed that.
Thanks Clayton, I really enjoyed making it as well!

@@ohsoretro5612 Oh now I understand ^^
about the CPU, did you check which voltage it was configured for ? Maybe the CPU ran overvolted for a decade x)
Why did you paint the case? You wanted to cover it with woodgrain anyway.

I have those cards!
