Been saving some match boxes for years and now I am a junk journal and altered book maker in the last year or so and this is super great and doing it soon...love your style and your approach to everything you do and say❤️❤️❤️

This is so funny.....I just finished my fourth altered book and I made room for two altoid boxes. It was a real challenge ! Had to bring out my drummel and sand paper. Hope to get pictures up on instagram soon ! Thanks so much for all the inspiration!

I cannot say to you how much your videos have inspired me over the past couple of weeks. Not sure how you ended up in my recommendeds, but the algorithm got it right this time. I will say up front - that we have VERY different styles, but what I LOVE more than anything is your process. I have learned heaps of things from binge watching your vids that I will try, practice, and use in future projects. THANK YOU for sharing your creativity. Even though the art you produce is not my style - everything I have seen has been unique and beautiful and substantive. Not only your work, but your process itself is very grounded. You are not a "struggling" artist - your art and your technique and your process is a language and iconography that you are very fluent in so that even mistakes are transformed into something usable and workable. I appreciate seeing that. I often wonder why you added another layer to the many layers before or why you covered up something entirely or why you chose the images or supplies you chose - and you probably can't answer that. Your choices seem more organic - native because it's part of who you are right now. I'm relatively new to making journals and I love seeing all the different ways people interpret this simple idea of taking a book and turning it into something else. Your journals seem to not have a whole bunch of pages, but the pages they do have are - amazing. I wonder - what do you do with all these journals you make. Do you archive them or sell them? I can imagine that once one starts altering books - you amass quite a collection very quickly. I don't have storage for a lot of books, but I do believe your work will force me to go out and find some books to alter JUST to try these techniques. I have about ten of your videos queued up to watch right now. Just awesome!!!! FYI - it's March 11, 2021 when I'm leaving this comment. We'll see where this rabbit hole takes us in the future. That silicone brush makes me so jealous....lol..... love the piece, great use of the match boxes..... really cute. I really love what you have done here, but I have discovered that one of the craft tools that I am really bad at using is the exacto..... I have tried so many times and manage to make a hash of it every time.... so I'm bowing out of this one.... but love what you have done.
oh you....try a saw! ha ha! i get it tho...it is not easy to cut through all the pages...older books are much easier to cut through than newer books.....they nearly crumble....so you could make a fruit crumble instead of hash...? hmmmmm....something to think about! love you julianne.....
Have no fear! If you are making drawer inserts, it will all be covered up. Just have a nice blade in the exacto and, as Lorrimarie shows, you may have to work extra in the corners to clean them out. I've only made them in newish books and it was pretty easy. At first, I kept my metal ruler at the edge so it wouldn't go all wonky. If you wanted to make an 'open' box as she shows here in the middle, you could always line it with paper if you thought it looked too horrid. :)
Hi LorriMarie, when I attach the binder clips I will fold the silver handles down. I like the handles to be out of my way. I use often with crafts and financial paperwork. I enjoy using them. awesome video.

We have not yet decided what covers to put on- but we did get some foil tape- thought that tutorial looked like a lot of fun- lots of room to show off textures and treasures. Mine is pretty close to done- so I even started sectioning out my new one!! YEAH!! I may cry with happiness when my first one is complete- I didn't think I would ever be able to do this---and yet there is the proof I can!!

Dan Dames of course I would love to share this with you and the village.. I ran out of mod podge during a project a few days ago, I was panicked, I mixed up Elmers Extreme liquid glue added a little water got it too runny so I added some Aileens tacky glue, then realized I like Matte mod podge so I added a couple squirts of liquitex fluid matte medium and its working fabulous. I think it takes longer to dry but other than that I love it.❤

This is so funny.....I just finished my fourth altered book and I made room for two altoid boxes. It was a real challenge ! Had to bring out my drummel and sand paper. Hope to get pictures up on instagram soon ! Thanks so much for all the inspiration!

I cannot say to you how much your videos have inspired me over the past couple of weeks. Not sure how you ended up in my recommendeds, but the algorithm got it right this time. I will say up front - that we have VERY different styles, but what I LOVE more than anything is your process. I have learned heaps of things from binge watching your vids that I will try, practice, and use in future projects. THANK YOU for sharing your creativity. Even though the art you produce is not my style - everything I have seen has been unique and beautiful and substantive. Not only your work, but your process itself is very grounded. You are not a "struggling" artist - your art and your technique and your process is a language and iconography that you are very fluent in so that even mistakes are transformed into something usable and workable. I appreciate seeing that. I often wonder why you added another layer to the many layers before or why you covered up something entirely or why you chose the images or supplies you chose - and you probably can't answer that. Your choices seem more organic - native because it's part of who you are right now. I'm relatively new to making journals and I love seeing all the different ways people interpret this simple idea of taking a book and turning it into something else. Your journals seem to not have a whole bunch of pages, but the pages they do have are - amazing. I wonder - what do you do with all these journals you make. Do you archive them or sell them? I can imagine that once one starts altering books - you amass quite a collection very quickly. I don't have storage for a lot of books, but I do believe your work will force me to go out and find some books to alter JUST to try these techniques. I have about ten of your videos queued up to watch right now. Just awesome!!!! FYI - it's March 11, 2021 when I'm leaving this comment. We'll see where this rabbit hole takes us in the future. That silicone brush makes me so jealous....lol..... love the piece, great use of the match boxes..... really cute. I really love what you have done here, but I have discovered that one of the craft tools that I am really bad at using is the exacto..... I have tried so many times and manage to make a hash of it every time.... so I'm bowing out of this one.... but love what you have done.
oh you....try a saw! ha ha! i get it tho...it is not easy to cut through all the pages...older books are much easier to cut through than newer books.....they nearly crumble....so you could make a fruit crumble instead of hash...? hmmmmm....something to think about! love you julianne.....
Have no fear! If you are making drawer inserts, it will all be covered up. Just have a nice blade in the exacto and, as Lorrimarie shows, you may have to work extra in the corners to clean them out. I've only made them in newish books and it was pretty easy. At first, I kept my metal ruler at the edge so it wouldn't go all wonky. If you wanted to make an 'open' box as she shows here in the middle, you could always line it with paper if you thought it looked too horrid. :)

when I attach the binder clips I will fold the silver handles down. I like the handles to be out of my way. I use often with crafts and financial paperwork. I enjoy using them. awesome video.

We have not yet decided what covers to put on- but we did get some foil tape- thought that tutorial looked like a lot of fun- lots of room to show off textures and treasures. Mine is pretty close to done- so I even started sectioning out my new one!! YEAH!! I may cry with happiness when my first one is complete- I didn't think I would ever be able to do this---and yet there is the proof I can!!
Joe is thrilled about his new book!! Thank you for supporting him with all you do!! And happy mail is getting sent out this week---so we will let you know when they get sent out. Hi Jennbickerstaff, Lynn P. here from The Village. Can you share with us how you made your own Mod Podge?
Dan Dames of course I would love to share this with you and the village.. I ran out of mod podge during a project a few days ago, I was panicked, I mixed up Elmers Extreme liquid glue added a little water got it too runny so I added some Aileens tacky glue, then realized I like Matte mod podge so I added a couple squirts of liquitex fluid matte medium and its working fabulous. I think it takes longer to dry but other than that I love it.❤
