@@hatoraidcowboy I just upgraded my seats from an Ashley furniture brand to Valencia Oslo. Next year I am planning to upgrade from a Denon X6300 processor to an Anthem AVM 90 and a tonewinner 8300 amplifier. Then another year after that, I want to upgrade from all Klipsch speakers to Focal or better. I upgraded my Klipsch subs a few years ago to two PB2000 pros and two PB3000s, but after seeing Doyle's setup, I would love to have subs on that level. Having a scope lens and video processor makes it even better for my use case. I usually don't have regrets about my purchases, but the one I ponder from time to time is the decision to by an LG OLED for my great room. I have 12 windows which bring in quite a bit of natural light. As such, I can't fully appreciate the benefits of OLED in my use case. Given that, I feel I could have saved a couple thousand dollars and gone with a larger screen and have been just as happy. I've been thinking about the 98 in TCL for that space.
My only issue with large tv’s in a dedicated Home Theater is the limitation of speaker placement. For ME….I dont get that cinematic feel watching movies on a large tv vs watching content on a projector and a screen. But to each his own. 😀
Hah so I have a signature? In all seriousness I came into this project after he had some Of the gear and acoustic panels. A really common part of my work is to undo what another acoustic expert did. We all have different opinions on how to achieve good sound. Some really believe in killing the room. I don’t believe in that and the feedback I generally get is very positive. Like Doyle noted, he made a simple change, it made a notable difference, so be then removed a lot of the absorption material. That brought the room back to a reasonable level and sounded better. I love what Doyle has done with his space and the ceiling is wild. This is a true enthusiasts theater. It’s dripping with passion.

I can’t recommend a single amp but a Buckeye Amps NCx500 3-channel for the front and a MC502MP 8-channel would be perfect. However, I would rethink the setup on just one detail. I would do the normal 7 channel ear-level speakers and get 4 ceiling channels if you can. You will not experience any height movement front to back in your room with only 2 ceiling speakers. You have to have a minimum of 4 to get a true atmos experience. 2 ceiling speakers will not properly image the room as a cohesive whole as atmos relies on a minimum of 2 layers of dual-stereo (quadraphonic) sound (4.1.4, usually 5.1.4).
