You're right. I had hoped they included it in the theatrical version, it also showed who became king of the lonely mountain after thorin, kili, and fili died.
Yall need to put some more respect on Thorins name, my man fought through a debilitating gold sickness and fought until his final breath for his people. He was one of the best kings ever.

I don't think anyone mentioned this - the tomb that Gimli was crying over in LOTR was Balin (the white haired dwarf). Balin took a bunch of dwarves to try to retake Moria and they all died. I think two or three other dwarves from The Hobbit also died there
One reason Thranduil is so hesitant to fight is because he had been in some horrific battles long ago, some were against dragons. He lost his wife, Legolas' mother. He came to the Lonely Mountain to get back some jewels that had belonged to his wife.
Thorin's sickness wasn't his choice. He couldn't help it. The gold king sickness resembles a bit the effect the ring had on Frodo and Smeagol. They can't control it up to a point. Thorin had many flaws, typical to dwarves. But he was a great king for their people. Perfect characters like Legolas aren't realistic. Thorin was a very realistic character with many flaws, but really good and loyal at heart, and a great leader.
Thorin and Dwarves in general are more interested in Gold,Sliver and Gems as they were made out of the Earth by Aule and not made like the Elves and Men by Eru Illuvatar. So elves are a little different from the others. The elves are not pure they have a history of kin slaying and greed themselves. It was Actually the Men who came to the aid of Elves to defeat Morgoth and then Sauron. Tolkein talks in the prolog to LOTR of the difference in perspectives of the immortal vs the mortal. The Akenstone is buried with Thorin.
@@bluegoose7832 Elijah Wood was only around 20 when he played Frodo, but there's nothing in the films which specifically indicates Frodo's age. Hobbits live longer lives than humans, so even though he looks younger, Frodo absolutely could have been in his fifties like he was in the books. Just like how Aragorn is mentioned to be 87 in the Two Towers, but because of his Númenórean blood, he's still quite young.
Glad i read the comments before watching. It doesnt sound like yall understood some of these characters at all, and wilfully disliked these movies based on things you heard going in. The first movies are phenomenal. These were too, yall just didnt want to let them be great for you. Glad i stopped on the previous reaction.
You'd be surprised by their discussion after the film. Most of them gave the film a very high rating, actually. But let's be real : the Hobbit trilogy is not on the same level as the LOTR trilogy, sadly (but understandably so).
@@bloopyumyum9360 Yes, I get it. I agree they are underestimating the power of the dragon sickness and blame it all on Thorin himself. But still, they appreciated the Hobbit trilogy, especially the 3rd movie, if obviously less that the LOTR trilogy (like most of us).
@Shyning77 I don't think that they really understand the impact that the dragon sickness has. They just hate Thorin and not acknowledge the things he lost and did for his people. Thorin is a good example that nobody is perfect. He is realistic. Leoglas is on the other hand not so realistic (no hate against him, I love him). That's why they should respect Thorin more. But still I don't hate them. They acknowledge the Hobbit trilogy and most of them understood the movies, but still not everyone.
Damn, I love Dwalin, "You sit here, in these vast halls, with a crown upon your head, and yet you are lesser now than you have ever been." ... he put Thorin in his place. Alfrid is a despicable character, but Ryan Gage is amazing playing him.
Its not right for u to judge Thorin the way u did. He went through a SICKNESS that was in his blood. He overcame it which is rare and hard af to do.. Forget all the good things he's done for his people and his group just bc he treated Bilbo bad during his sickness and bc he didnt give some gold to Men. Thranduil was a btch and was obsessed over his jewels and he turned his back to Thorin. Ofc he'd feel some sort of way for the Elves. (Elves that kept them in dungeons btw and hunted them for a bit) You dont just forget that as a dwarf king. Thorin is by far the best character in this series. Bilbo and him ended their friendship on good terms. Overcame his sickness and is the reason why they won btw. A king joining a fight boosts the morale of his people tremendously. "What are extra 10 dwarfs gonna do" is funny af considering Gimli alone was taking down 50-100 orcs at least but thats lotr so its fine he is allowed to do that!. Smh
The constant bashing on Thorin for everything he does or doesn't do from tje girls is a bit much... Yah I don't LOVE the character persay but the scene with him and Bilbo in the end is so emotional and well acted and I feel it did not land because they didn't want to embrace it. Also should've watched the extended cut, it had answers to some your questions and a bit more fleshing out of characters I thought.
You know that women literally can not understand any virtues like honor, redemption etc.? Their brains have not evolved to comprehend such things, their emotions are entirely surface level, shallow.
It's fair as they kept resetting his character growth between movies. He didn't trust the high elves in Rivendell because Peter Jackson wanted drama, then accepted Bilbo at the end of An Unexpected Journey, then looked down on him as a coward that ran away when they got captured by the elves, then saw him as clever at the door, then when he actually kept his trust in Bilbo, he didn't trust any of his kin and they made the Arkenstone as a corrupting item when it never did. Thorin refused to leave the mountain to help laketown because the elves helped them, and he still didn't trust the wood elves. He did feel betrayed by Bilbo in the book and then forgave him on his death bed, but his motivation throughout the movies is broken
probably becuz he's still annoying as hell as a character regardless of the sickness, and that only added to it. And then out of nowhere is like free of it. It was lame and his character is meh.
@@DrewsterRooster37Thorin actually reminds them that Bilbo wasn't captured when the dwarves were saying they weren't going to get out. He never calls Bilbo a coward, I don't know where you got the idea he does.
The wealth Bilbo returned with to the shire was written to be a small chest of gold, don't forget he was limited to what he could carry back home also, that is what he returned with. The gold he could fit in his chest makes him a very rich man shire wise so he would certainly have no issues, Baggin's was a quietly wealthy family after he returned. Regardless of the gold he brought back, the mithril shirt he now owns value exceeds the value of the entire landmass of the Shire. Bilbo in that sense, is an obnoxiously rich Hobbit. 'What?' cried Gimli, startled out of his silence. 'A corslet of Moria-silver? That was a kingly gift!' Yes,' said Gandalf. 'I never told him, but its worth was greater than the value of the whole Shire and everything in it.' Bilbo if he was ever hard pressed, would never need to worry about money.
Bilbo gave his 14th share to the people of Lake-town to rebuild Dale. But the Master of Lake-town stole it and fled into the desert with the Captain of the Guard who ended up taking all the gold and leaving the Master to die.
As flawed as this trilogy was it’s still has some great moments. One thing however I’m mad about is that they took out Thorins funeral scene that was a real heavy moment that could’ve been a good save for the prequel.
@CinemaGek The funeral scene exists. You all didn't see the extended cuts of the films where a lot of content and answers to unanswered questions are. The only thing they never showed in the film is the funeral speech Gandalf gives. The king has come into him own. Under mountain, under stone. Send him now onto the deep. Unto earth, eternal sleep. Under mountain, under stone. Through all the lands let it be known... THE KING IS DEAD! LONG LIVE THE KING!!!
The failure to understand that Thorin has changed and corrupted what his grand gather was going through. "Dragon sickness" which is another word for greed. Dwarves are stubborn, but they are a proud people. Thorin redeemed himself by facing what his grandfather could not which was dragon sickness.
@@jackfromthejungle7538 Dude, did you hear of Tolkien? Like the guy who wrote those stories the movies are based on? I promis you, Dragon Sickness isn't just needless plot without any value but part of a highly constructed universe where it plays a very crucial role in the history of Middle Earth. You're watching a fantasy film, you should be up to embrace "made up" things or maybe go watch a documentray instead.
@@solongandgoodnight1820 Can you point me to one passage from the books where this has 'a very crucial role' or any relevance at all? @@solongandgoodnight1820 Could you give me but one example where 'it plays a very crucial role'? I dont think theres any relevance to it in regard to Tolkiens work, but i open to be proven wrong... Some more info about Tauriel: As mentioned, she was not invented by Tolkien, but by the studio which produced the Hobbit-movies. Since the original book "The Hobbit" didn`t include any love story, the studio wanted to invent a new one. ~10 years ago I had a long conversation with a few people from WETA Workshop, who also confirmed that Peter Jackson HATED that idea and especially the "forbidden romance" between Tauriel and Kili. But the studio insisted, and they got the money, soooo ... 🤷🤷 And most Lotr fans feel the same, because in Tolkien`s world a romance between an elf and a dwarf is ... absolutely impossible. Not actually forbidden, but it´s .... hard to explain, they are made differently so that that wouldn`t be possible. So what they did with Tauriel and Kili, they are immensely breaking the Lore here. And, what makes it even more despising: Elves can only love once. When their loved one/ true love dies, they fall into great despair (good example is Thranduil, or also Elrond). That is what Tauriel & Thranduil are saying: "Why does it hurt so much?" - "Because it was real." Meaning Kili - a dwarf - was indeed her one true love. Which makes it really really bad, according to Tolkiens original lore. Also meaning: she can never love again. That´s why Legolas turns away and leaves. He knows that. Friendzone level: eternity 😂😂 . . There´s lot of jokes about Tauriel`s existence: "Why does it hurt so much?" - "Because it wasn`t in the books." T: "Are we not part of this world?" L: "No, you`re not even part of the book." (Sorry 😂😜 )
You really can't give too much ripe against Thorin's sickness in greed, which ran through from his grandfather, which could've been expanded on a bit more, but the time constraints that Peter Jackson faced thanks to constant pressure from the studios made him cut down so much. Also the charge of the Company, in the book, they were wearing heavy armor but the actors weren't able to run in them due to how heavy it was, so it ended up becoming more symbolistic than how it was in the book where the armor of Erebor was extremely effective.
Thrain being PARTIALLY CGI was due to last minute actor's health issue and his inability to carry on with the whole prosthetics and makeup, so CGI him in some scenes (not all) was a quick solution without having to get another actor, because Peter Jackson really wanted him for that part.
Legolas is at this point a meme due to this trilogy. They did love to make completely ridiculous unreal scenes. Fun trilogy. But completely unreal nonetheless. For the record, he didn't even get a mention in the Hobbit book. Its all made up.
Frodo did not come into Bilbo's life, as his heir, until after this adventure. When Bilbo had his birthday party he was 111. Frodo turned 30 on the same day. Bilbo adopted Frodo after his parents died in an accident ( think they drowned). The reason I know this is that according to hobbit laws and rules, a hobbit cannot own or be left property before they are 30. When Bilbo left the shire to live with the elves, Frodo could then inherit Bag End. Thanks for sharing.
Galadriel didn’t become evil in that scene the book described that as “Elf revealed in wrath” that’s an elf wrath visualization and she’s not just any elf she’s oldest elf and the most powerful. Thats how they look when in wrath apparently. How can Galadriel be evil? She has always been described as the purest of them all like a virgin mary in the book.
@@bluegoose7832nah, she talked too much, and was kinda pissy about Tauriel choosing Kili. She said Kili is lesser than Legalos and it's patently untrue. Kili was a prince just like Legalos is. She seems to think that only elves are royalty.
in the book, last thing that happens is that balin and gandalf visit bilbo after years, thought it would have been nice if they kept that in the movie..
Billy Connolly, a wonderful Scottish actor and comedian, voiced Dane for the movie. By the time they had started filming the movies, he had just found out his diagnosis with Parkinson’s Disease and I believe he chose not to be physically on camera due to the involuntary muscle spasms it caused his body to make. He still gave an incredible performance as always.
Great video. Sadly they cut a lot of the battle out for the extended edition. There is actually like 20 minutes more battle I would guess with crazy scenes and goats xD
Please you should pay more respect to Thorin. Yes he did some things wrong, but nobody is perfect. He was SICK and he overcome it. Its unnecessary to just hate him and not acknowledge the things he did for his people. The wars he fought and the things he lost. He is one of the best characters in all this franchise. He is a good person and he died for his people. He is a honourable person, king and warrior.
Never forget the themes of these movies: Lord of the Rings: Good verse Evil, Friendship/Collectivism verse Division/Individualism, Nature verses Industry and Power verses No Power etc. Hobbit: Greed, Power and Control verses the Collective etc. Familiar to the world we live in today?
I don’t know the name of the guy on the end but he was incorrect when he said the white council attacking Sauron happened after The Hobbit. It happens EXACTLY when the movie depicts. It’s just that in The Hobbit book we don’t see Gandalf’s storyline.
The 14th share of the treasure, Bilbo gave to the men. It was for rebuilding Dale but unfortunately the Captain and the Master (who isn't crushed by a dead dragon in the book) stole the gold and fled, but the Master died in the desert after the Captain ditched him. 59:12 that is Kili who you are talking about, not Fili. Fili was the blonde.
The finale is a complete CGI fest, and that's one of the main complaints about the whole trilogy. But I enjoyed it, like with the animation of a very well done gameplay cutscene. Except may be the occasional breaking of physics, Legolas not withstanding.
dont understand the insane thorin hate, dude been a dawg since first movie and gets hated, rightfully for his actions in this one but lets completly disregard the sickness thats the reason for it. Frodo is a goat but he had the same lows, shit he even tried killing Sam.
The fact that The Film Director winged all of these Trilogies of The Hobbit. Shows how even with, lil to Less to prepare, you can still somehow make Masterpieces.
I swear lotr fans are clowns , I mean they ask the dumbest question just to talk shit about the hobbit, I mean what do you mean how he is fighting better without shields, maybe because he is lighter ? Or how thorin and dwalin will manage to kill 100 goblins, I mean no one said anything when legolas took down giant elephants by himself, or when gimli , legolas and aragon jumped on a hole army of orcs by themselves, or when a girl who just learned how to pick a sword killed a nazgul and his dragon, but in the hobbit they yap about anything and everything
It's about the execution. For example, a lot of good scenes are just ruined by that human there for comic relief. It's why marvel movies are so bad since nothing is serious. It takes art to interweave epic scenes with serious fights to ensure it doesn't become a laughing stock.
@@BuffPomsky i understand what you are saying, and i kinda agree, I didn't say that the hobbit didn't have some scenes that you can not digest easily, but what I am saying that they are literally criticizing everything , that's just pure hate , lotr had a lot of similar scenes, and they didn't say a thing about it , and one last thing to prove my point, I mean they talked about how unrealistic is fighting without shields and how they are outnumbered but still winning and how thorin suddenly became equal to azog (like if he didn't kick his ass in moria battle with a tree branch as a shield) , and they just laughed off the dumbest scene in the entire series where legolas was fighting bolg and saying after that that he is getting all the lights, which prove that the are hating just because they heard that the hobbit is supposed to be worse than lotr , and to ride the wave you have to agree with that and show how bad it is while glorifying the least realistic scenes because it has legolas in it .
@BuffPomsky and if you look closely, you can see that 90% of their comments were not about the execution, but the plot itself like why the dragon didn't kill any dwarf or why there was survivors from lake town , little they know they weren't supposed to talk about that because it's against the agenda
The credits song is the best part of this trilogy imo, sung by Pippin's actor from the LOTR trilogy Billy Boyd, "the last goodbye" to the fans of middle earth. The music video for the song is great as well.
Should’ve watched the extended. The Iron Hill Dwarves vs Mirkwood Elves initial battle was way more epic than this. The fact you are not in a cinema but in your personal home/house is enough to start with the extended version. It’s a fact that majority have seen more of the theatric versions than the extended in all kinds of movies. Because they’re the first to be watched before the extended version are released. Unless you’re going to react again but to the extended rather than off screen. Why? Because of deleted scenes. And re-arranged scenes. Scenes much better/epic. And because helps reduce confusion compared to the theatrical version where some details are left questioned but may be answered in the extended.
Funny that you all loved the last film the most, there's pretty much unison agreement wherever I see that the first is the best, followed by the second one.
I always recommend the extended edition of the five armies the battle was way more epic, and shows just how strong the dwarves are. To answer your question about Gandalfs age Gandalf is extremely old think of him as an angle, and sauron a fallen angle.
U r wrong about Thorin. I was pissed when he was acting like an ass BUT was really rooting he will redeem himself because he’s always been the not typical ” character type. The three in the middle underestimate the dragon sickness lmaoz His character showed a lot in the movie. Very interesting and not what the the typical “ i like him from the start to finish type” so when he changed back from the sickness these girls couldn’t accept that. they’re like “omy how is that possible he was supposed to be an ass” but nope. Surprises surprises. Well written characters aren’t built with plot like that. U gotta be flexible u can’t just hate the character just because they don’t go your typical expected way. but I’m glad the guys are liking how thorin redeemed himself and not agreeing with them. They recognize the circumstances the sickness and all and acknowledging all he did not just the one bad thing. These girls are just closeminded. To be fr the grls are extreme reactors and talks a LOT. the boys on the otherhand are laser focused and we prefer that. My cousins and I watches your channel everytime and we share the same views. Thorin is the best, and whoever judges him, let him first remove the beam from his own eye before judging others, especially the one who returned the Motherland to his people, and after making a mistake, changed it by sacrificing his own life. And our whole world should also think about his last words. A wonderful dwarf and king.
I love LOTR, but for some reason I just don't like The Hobbits, it doesn't click with me. So I'm really happy it's over now hahha and we can start with a new journey. I'm sooo ready for cozy/autumn Harry Potter season, let's gooo!!!!!!

Fun fact, Tolkien himself in his letters says that Galadriel could never have faced Sauron alone, even if she had the one ring. Only Gandalf (of the good guys) would be able to.
Sigh...Legolas...got 5 movies without ALMOST nothing but cringy "awesome" fightscenes, shared no words with Frodo apart from "and you have my bow" in all of the movies, but yeah what an uuuuuunderrated love story he has...almost always one of the top three characters, only reasoning for all of it "well he's so juicy"...🤦🏻♂️🙄😮💨
Even though I do not consider The Hobbit movies to be considered "canon" I really do like them. However, do keep in mind the book of the hobbit is the true canon, and you all should read the books for extreme detail of how the hobbit and lotr actually plays out.
If only Amazon could do a semi decent job on ROP, they’d enjoy the lore even more. The first and second ages of middle earth are so GOATED they make LOTR look like child’s play fr.
Galadriel is the only one here who has seen the first light, and the light was captured by her hair. Elrond, although born of nobility from all races, did not. That makes Galadriel the most powerful Elf here. And only because a reborn Glorfindel and Cirden the Shipwright are not featured in the films.

@@bloopyumyum9360 I agree. Rooting for Legolas because "he's so juicy" is a bit short lol
Smh
F him, and you. Enough with your justification towards that character ..l..
It's like they just mentally blocked out the whole "sickness" part of the dragon sickness lol
'I never told him, but its worth was greater than the value of the whole Shire and everything in it.'
Bilbo if he was ever hard pressed, would never need to worry about money.
Ya that scene sounds amazing, no idea why that wouldn’t make the cut. Absolutely agree with this take
@CinemaGek The funeral scene exists.
50:27 frowns are always turned upside down with "don't bother knocking"
18:58 For context, that necklace belonged to Thranduil's wife, and that's why he wants it. Idk why the movie never explains this.
The extended cut does.
The failure to understand that Thorin has changed and corrupted what his grand gather was going through. "Dragon sickness" which is another word for greed.
Dwarves are stubborn, but they are a proud people.
Thorin redeemed himself by facing what his grandfather could not which was dragon sickness.
The three in the middle don't understand dragon sickness do they lol. You can't blame Thorin
Whats there to udnerstand? its a made up movie thing to add needless plot without actually adding anything of value

Some more info about Tauriel:
As mentioned, she was not invented by Tolkien, but by the studio which produced the Hobbit-movies. 🤷🤷
And most Lotr fans feel the same, because in Tolkien`s world a romance between an elf and a dwarf is ... absolutely impossible. Not actually forbidden, but it´s .... hard to explain, they are made differently so that that wouldn`t be possible.
So what they did with Tauriel and Kili, they are immensely breaking the Lore here.
And, what makes it even more despising:
Elves can only love once. When their loved one/ true love dies, they fall into great despair (good example is Thranduil, or also Elrond).
That is what Tauriel & Thranduil are saying:
"Why does it hurt so much?" - "Because it was real."
Meaning Kili - a dwarf - was indeed her one true love. Which makes it really really bad, according to Tolkiens original lore.
Also meaning: she can never love again.
That´s why Legolas turns away and leaves. He knows that.
Friendzone level: eternity 😂😂
.
.
There´s lot of jokes about Tauriel`s existence:
"Why does it hurt so much?"
- "Because it wasn`t in the books."
T: "Are we not part of this world?"
L: "No, you`re not even part of the book."
(Sorry 😂😜 )
You really can't give too much ripe against Thorin's sickness in greed, which ran through from his grandfather, which could've been expanded on a bit more, but the time constraints that Peter Jackson faced thanks to constant pressure from the studios made him cut down so much. Also the charge of the Company, in the book, they were wearing heavy armor but the actors weren't able to run in them due to how heavy it was, so it ended up becoming more symbolistic than how it was in the book where the armor of Erebor was extremely effective.
I don't think they would have died so easily, if they had worn their armor. I know they weren't going to make it , either way
lol, you did NOT start out this movie saying you don't like Benedict Cumberbatch!
Ya hottest take of all time right
The Thorin disrespect is insane. Never seen that from reactors, ever. That’s wild…
Watching these guys go through all of LotR and the Hobbit and them getting so into it was epic.
That’s what this franchise does to you.
So many people don't get that with the way she is depicted in the films.

in the book, last thing that happens is that balin and gandalf visit bilbo after years, thought it would have been nice if they kept that in the movie..
The Necromancer (Sauron) vs White Council in Dol Guldur was actually from the books, not The Hobbit, but form another books/writings of Tolkien.
Great video. Sadly they cut a lot of the battle out for the extended edition. There is actually like 20 minutes more battle I would guess with crazy scenes and goats xD
Notice that when galadriel banishes Sauron, she uses both her elven ring and the star glass she gives Frodo in lord of the rings
Never forget the themes of these movies:
Lord of the Rings: Good verse Evil, Friendship/Collectivism verse Division/Individualism, Nature verses Industry and Power verses No Power etc.
1:02:19 wait, what do you mean Alfred didn't die? He was catapulted into a troll's throat!!!!!!!!!
I'm so sad that none of you seemed to catch the fact that the ending lines are the literal starting ones from the first Lotr movie
Why so much thorin hate??
The finale is a complete CGI fest, and that's one of the main complaints about the whole trilogy. But I enjoyed it, like with the animation of a very well done gameplay cutscene. Except may be the occasional breaking of physics, Legolas not withstanding.
The twirly-whirlies though.
dont understand the insane thorin hate, dude been a dawg since first movie and gets hated, rightfully for his actions in this one but lets completly disregard the sickness thats the reason for it.

Wait are yu a lotr fan?
@@Mc76204 I am a fan of both who doesn't bother crazy scenes in a fantasy movie
Fun fact, the vest of mithril they gave him is worth more than the entire shire and bilbo nor frodo ever knew
Funny that you all loved the last film the most, there's pretty much unison agreement wherever I see that the first is the best, followed by the second one.
Aragon is not just a man... he's a Dunadine, a race from Numonor, descendants of Elrond's twin brother, Elros.

The girls should chill.
I agree 100%. The disrespect against Thorin really annoyed me.
Thorin is the best, and whoever judges him, let him first remove the beam from his own eye before judging others, especially the one who returned the Motherland to his people, and after making a mistake, changed it by sacrificing his own life. And our whole world should also think about his last words. A wonderful dwarf and king.
