  • I bought a used GTX 1660 Super online on FB Marketplace. When I test it the temperature is above normal even if it is in idle mode. I decided to open it and replace it with a new thermal pads from GELID and the thermal paste from thermalright. The two chips below the GPU Core is 0.5mm thick and I have no stock so I just reused the 1.0mm thick from its memory chips since it is almost the same size as a 0.5mm new since it is already compressed.
    After two months of using the temperature is just ok and I plan to- buy a 0.5mm thick thermal pads for future uses. Thank you all for supporting my channel.

    Thanks for measuring! I've lost my original pads, and didn't measure it.

    I recommend giving to the core Honeywell PTM7950 phase-change material, and instead of thermopads thermal putty Upsiren UX Pro Ultra and finally perform undervolting.

    Do you know if the thermalpad thickness is the same for the Gigabyte Ti version? I would be very grateful if you know this answer. Thanks for the upload!

      I used to stock thermal pads sir and measure the actual pads after i opened it. Just add a little or round off to above nearest value since the old pads are already compressed.

    I put 1.5mm On all parts of the graphics card The temperature rose to the worst from 70° to 81° can y help me what should I do

    • @aqmgameshobbies8165
      @aqmgameshobbies8165  7 месяцев назад

      This is just my opinion sir. Open, Check and Repaste the gpu. Examine the thermal pads contacts and add 0.5mm for those who have very little contact to the heat sink. Or if you can measure the stock pads thickness if you still have it.

    i have gigabyte gtx 1660 ti, i think it have a same model wtih this card.
    so for thermal pads do we only need 1.0 mm & 1.5mm? or its better to have 2.5mm too? or can i just use a 1.0mm & 0.5mm combo?

    • @aqmgameshobbies8165
      @aqmgameshobbies8165  2 месяца назад +1

      Its better if it has a total of 2.5mm than a thinner 1.5mm to ensure proper contact. Please make sure also all the pads have a good contact, not one is hanging or it has no gap between pads and metal.

    Are the cheap Thermal Pad types different from the expensive types?

    • @aqmgameshobbies8165
      @aqmgameshobbies8165  11 месяцев назад

      There are cheap brands that offer good prices. has good thermal conductivity rating from 12 to 17 w/m-K but have not tried it yet. Pcf brand. Maybe ill try it next

    No temp tests before/after. Also 15x60 2mm + 15x30 1mm for VRAM, 1mm for VRM. GODDAYM, spread the paste with a spatula over the surface of the chip before installing radiator! A drop of lubricant for coolers to eliminate crackling and buzzing noises, this is common problem with this cheap gigabyte version. Kinda noob guide.

    • @aqmgameshobbies8165

      Thanks for the input. About the spatula we have the option to just use single drop. Many have tried this technique and I myself have done both and its ok. I should have included before/after temps
