Thank you for this information. I’ve tried doing this using the white artist tape but it just pulls loose because the paper was wet. Does that painters tape adhere to wet paper? I really want to avoid the gummed tape.

The only time I’ve had trouble with the painters tape working was when I tried to stretch paper I had soaked instead of brushing the water on. In the end I got it to work by
by blotting dry the edges with a paper towel. I’ve never had a problem with the tape sticking to the paper after brushing the water on.

great stretching information because i don't want to use tape I have to wet, but I gotta ask, is your water holder a jam jar? Cause I think I use the same one for my water 😄

Does masonite absorb water?

It will absorb a little of the water like any piece of wood will. This shouldn’t be a problem for painting and the boards holds up really nicely. I’ve been using the same painting boards for years. No water damage or warping yet.
