simple? More like cluttered cramped mess. It's fine if people want to live in small spaces.... I personally want a very small home, BUT don't call this "simple" when it's a mess.
Some people work a lot and being a few minutes from work is more than worth it. People like to say taking a train to Manhattan from Queens or Brooklyn is 20 mins. It is not... I live 7 miles from lower Manhattan in Brooklyn and sometimes it takes me over 1.5 hours to get to work via train. By car it's no better either if there's traffic and you get stuck for an hour. If it takes me 1-1.5 hours to go each way for work that's almost 3 hours out of the day spent on commuting.
And New York politicians did a great job trashing the real estate market in New York so that demand runs way ahead of supply, driving the cost of apartments to these skyhigh rates, thus encouraging the creation of such apartments in the private sector. And useful idiots who wouldn't know a bad idea even if it punched them in the face with a stamp that says, "Bad Idea" elects these politicians and encourages them to make these bad policies.
"They have parks here. They have gyms all over." Just a heads up Kirsten, they have restaurants, parks, gyms, in every metro area. The difference is that these other places have apartments that are affordable with 10x your space. A large bathroom, a real kitchen and usually a laundry area. But I'm sure Manhattan is worth it. *rolls eyes*
It doesn’t even need to be 10x the size to be waaaay more comfortable. I’m a student (in Finland) and me and many of my friends live alone comfortably in studio apartments that are 2-3x the size of that. But even the single person ”dorm rooms” I’ve lived in weren’t that crammed and were of larger surface area in temselves, and then I had separate regular size community bathrooms and kitchens etc. 😂
My little city of 10,000 has restaurants, parks, and gyms. We also have big houses, big apartments, a lake, a river and clean, fresh air. Syracuse, a big city with sports, theatres and malls is only 20 minutes away. And it's still in NY State... you couldn't pay me to live in NYC!
My garage is like 20 times bigger than your apartment. That means I could subdivide it and rent it out to a bunch of professional organizers. Thank you for the motivation to become a real estate mogul.
I would have totally lived in a tiny apartment in college to save money, but this is $700 a month and she doesn’t have to live there. She’s writing a book! NYC is overrated and overpriced.
Wherever you live doesn’t have anywhere near the variety of restaurants, shops and entertainment that NY does. Yeah everywhere has gyms and parks but not gyms that are within 2 minutes walking distance, and this is Central Park you idiot, possibly the most globally renowned city park in the world
@@turkey4957 My guess is if this person can only afford $700 a month to live they aren’t frequenting to many restaurants and entertainment. She’s probably feeding bread to the pigeons in Central Park. People are leaving New York in groves right now do to better living elsewhere. There’s rumor of taxing people for leaving the state because of so many moving elsewhere.
Not to mention the parks in Utah are prettier and not littered with homeless people everywhere and not the setting for every 4th Law and Order murder/rape episode.

Hey if you work 90 hours a week and only come home to sleep and shower and get to live and work in new york, a lot of people would be up for this, including me.

It's apart of the whole "BIG CITY LIVING" hype. You can also thank the popularity of Sex in the City, for giving people inspiration to move to NYC. I can see the appeal of it though. Lots of things to do, and see. Plus the energy is so high, and is constantly moving.
Wow I'm glad I moved out of NYC. Full of people who've convinced themselves that paying to live in a coffin is perfectly reasonable because they're near a library.
Kansas Isn’t flat We have the best education system in the country, free public college for residents, and the cleanest water supply in the US. We have middle schoolers learning what you guys learn in high school through a program called Regents and many graduate by 15/16/17 (depending on their birthday) thanks to the program. Also native New Yorkers are given programs for networking purposes to increase wealth. We have a 24 hour affordable public transit system and strict laws protecting tenants. We also get higher minimum wage and plenty of tax cuts if you know how to use them. The part of NY you’re seeing in this video and the original poster saw isn’t the REAL New York at all. Don’t buy that lie. They make the rent higher because they’re stupid and get taken advantage of and want to bring their friends but not get REAL jobs. Fuck them.
alize0623 if by clean then you mean full of toxic chlorine and fluoride, then probably. I don’t drink tap water and neither should you. Pro-life or birth is Pro-suffering How about you just let her live her life how she wants to? Just because you wouldn’t personally live like her, doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with it.
Because it’s called freedom of speech. One person may think it’s delusional to live in a space the size of my closet. But others like you see it as the most virtuous thing ever and anyone who doesn’t agree with you is inherently evil. Some people spot nonsense while others encourage it and think it’s transcendental. Two different opinions, but obviously one is much more in line with physical reality and human nature
@@dkdcnone5771 Nothing, _absolutely nothing_ that the OP said suggested that anyone who doesn’t agree with their take is “inherently evil”. Cool apt. And saving the money for what really matters. By-the-way many countries have apartments like this. Your back yard is big. Only problem is during covid you had to stay home.
I think she was jokingly describing how good at organizing she had to become in order to live in a place that size. Plus, bananas in the toaster oven might cut down on the number of fruit flies you'll get in the summer. IDK. 😄
Martin Bodger I mean, micro-housing is really important and would in fact prefer a micro house but most I look at aren’t this fucking ridiculous. Like, Jesus, the woman doesn’t even have a goddamn kitchen and a sad excuse for a bathroom.
So not long after this video went viral, this woman's landlord ended up seeing it and found out that she wasn't on the lease and promptly evicted her. After she left the landlord then doubled the rent on this place to $1200. Insane.
To sublet without landlord's approval is not acceptable, if that was the case. She did a fantastic job utilizing the limited space. Good luck to her in her new place.
She does have a lot of clutter everywhere. I agree that a minimalist who's never home would do better but I think she's trying to think of herself that way /like when she says she's trying to use the nearby parks, libraries, stores etc /, but she also seems to be working from home /she is writing a book so she's an author??/. Anyway idk, for someone who's working from home this seems way too small and cluttered.
I agree, with some more storage and minimizing her possession she would be better off. However, it seems to me that it’s not well organized and she does have quite a bit of stuff.
You are correct but I do not think she will like this idea as you can see her possessions are not limited and as she writing she needs more space for books
I thought my 200 sq ft apartment was small but after living here a year I’m actually more used to it than I thought I would be. At this point literally my only reason I want to move to a bigger place is so my cat has more space since she has to stay indoors. But she loves the loft so I don’t feel as bad.

I agree. For a "professional organizer"?! I'm no professional organizer. But that whole thing looks cluttered to me. The storage could be so much better...
I live a few blocks from this in the same kind of brownstone. I have about 190 sq ft. I used to live in a two-floor townhouse in a different city. So many people are obsessed with the idea, your surrounded by a hole strangers in big cities
it's not the living in the city it's just people and city opportunities and New York is perfect for that
Or sit bolt upright in bed.

Wow landlords did a really good job of convincing hipsters that living in a closet is cool
Landlords did that or the economy?
Ha!
I think this is more about the price. Most people don’t even live in New York for a long time, they just there to have fun for a while
Hipsters = young people that want to live in the city ? If there were other options, people wouldn't choose to live in a closet... Trust me.
She's basically contributing to the astronomical values of Manhattan
It doesn’t even need to be 10x the size to be waaaay more comfortable. I’m a student (in Finland) and me and many of my friends live alone comfortably in studio apartments that are 2-3x the size of that. But even the single person ”dorm rooms” I’ve lived in weren’t that crammed and were of larger surface area in temselves, and then I had separate regular size community bathrooms and kitchens etc. 😂
New York is worth it
Muhilan Selvaa No, it isn’t.
