    To much hype, REP Fitness released their REP Monolift Attachment, claiming them to be the, "Best Monolifts on the Market." Hmm...
    Today we review the REP Monolift Arms designed for their REP PR-4000 and PR-4000 Squat Racks. They also work for any 3x3 11-guage upright including Rogue's and Sorinex.
    The main question is, are they enough of an improvement to warrant a similar cost as the original Rogue Monolifts? I don't think so. They're good, but there's not very remarkable other than the cool look about them.

    Don't knock the importance of "looks" -- my home gym is gorgeous, the investment and time I spent building it makes me want to use it more. Buy shit you love to look at and only buy shit you love to use. Good barbells, a fancy rack, nice plates, etc... it really helps when I have those "zero motivation" days.

    • @UnusHonorabilis

    As one of the few people out there with several different monolift attachments on hand, it would be nice to see you do a precise comparison measuring the swing of each. In my mind, that’s the only functionality that matters: how much room do I really get to avoid hitting my bar in a perfectly vertical lift?

    Coop, the "look" is cool, but not something that's gonna drive me away from Rogue's made in the USA, reputation, and (God forbid- resell value). As for the Flying Tigers cosmetics, again, cool, but not something worth the gouge they want. Actually, it's a bit funny as the P-40 Warhawks of the Flying Tigers were based in China, so it's fitting that the steel is from there for these monolift arms. ;-)

    I love the Rogue monolift for bench. So I bought another one for squats. I had two issues. One I use safety straps which droop in the middle. With the Rogue monolift, I still had to go back a little in order to get to full depth on my squat without risk of touching the straps. Also, with the monolift on squats, I really felt like I had no margin for error coming up to the monolift on a heavy lift, and I was afraid that one day I'd tip forward, look to regain control and come up under the monolift (which I felt risked injury). I tried using it for a couple of months and then decided to sell it. I really do love the monolift for bench press. But I wouldn't get another rack-attachable monolift for squatting.

    I have a bone to pick with REP now. I was looking to get one of their racks, and while I was waiting for it to come back in stock, they increased the price by at least 50%! They gave me a lame and vague excuse of something to do with COVID disruptions, but it made no sense. They are made in China, and China has mostly been back to work for a while now. More likely they are straight up price gouging. And this stuff was already crazy expensive for what it was: square pipe with holes and a package of bolts. Steel is cheap, and these things aren’t labor intensive to make. Instead of solving their supply issues, they are content to keep demand and price artificially high, screwing their customer base when they are in need. You can say "that’s capitalism", but capitalism is also your brand reputation taking a hit for screwing over customers. It’s one thing when the bots buy up all the plates for resale (and all companies could be doing more to prevent this, btw). It’s another when the original company comes right out and tries to shake you down.
    I went with a Rogue Monster Rack, and it ended up being cheaper with the shipping! REP made sense when they were a value alternative....if you didn’t mind made in China, and lower build quality, you could get something midway between Rogue and Titan. Now, even if they have stuff in stock, it’s priced crazy. I have a long memory, and I’m gonna remember who acted right toward us during all this, and who tried to stick it to us....

    • @dachang9244
      @dachang9244 3 года назад

      Yes, I have to agree. Been waiting fir REP to stock up but since REP up their prices I did a invoice comparison of REP PR5000 and Rogue RM-6, just the simple set-up: 6 upright post, flip down safety, 8 plate storage, 4 band pegs, premium jcups, 90” height. The PR5000 was just about $200 in price difference. For me, I would go with Rogue since they have better quality and in terms of innovation they are ahead of the game. Thanks for your message input.

      The most likely reason is China picked a political fight w/ Australia by banning a whole bunch of AU imports. Possibly in retribution AU raised the price of iron ore this year that China desperately needs from them to make steel. The fight started when AU had the "audacity" to ask for independent investigation into the source of the pandemic. In fact there's now a whole bunch of electricity generation problem in China which is partially contributed by China's ban of AU coal. Also, I guarantee there will be a lot of Wumaos following my comment to try to deny this:

    There's only so many ways to build a simple product. A company saying their version is the best is a little disingenuous. But these definitely look the best out of all of them.
    Also, people, if you have this or the Titan version, take the top bolt out and throw it right in the garbage. This allows the counter weight to go all the way back to the rack and you'll have all the space you could ever need.

  • @smokinHawkjh
    @smokinHawkjh 3 года назад +1

    um Coop, the first company to come out with the monolift attachment was Crepinsek, then edge fitness, then rogue. Though rogue was the one that made it (relatively) affordable and mass produced them more then the other 2 companies, you can say they brought them to the mainstream.
    you also should have measured the swing, pretty sure the Rogue ones have more clearance.

      @UCpWYXdThN5WHVaMh-ZxtIcw thanks for the explanation,
      saying Reps swing out further with out the load on the bar doesn't really mean anything. You can take out the stop bolt in the rogues and they will swing more. It is where the weight rests that is important.

    Other than the "made in the USA", I really don't see what everyone has against Titan fitness. I have a Titan rack, multigrip bar, lever arms and safety straps. Everything came packaged well, looks good and, most importantly, functions well. I have friends with Rogue, Rep, etc equipment, and I really can't tell the difference. I will admit, the welds on the Rogue rack do look nicer, but mine don't look horrible. And Coop's comment on the price of shipping being worked into the total cost is false. The Titan monolift(currently unavailable) is somewhere around $200. With free shipping!!! I understand he has a relationship with the company, but he shouldn't dissuade people from trying something else. Especially if they'll save some money.

    • @bmstylee
      @bmstylee 3 года назад

      You pay shipping one way or another. Free shipping is a lie. Its built into the price. Look at Kettlebell Kings and Rogue prices on kettlebells. KB King gives free shipping. Rogue charges shipping. They end up the same price.

      @MrGadunker 3 года назад +1

      @@bmstylee i can't speak for these other companies, but the fact that Titan is offering free shipping isn't affecting the cost of a great budget product. The stuff I've bought directly from them were quality for a lower cost. And free shipping. It allows you to not have to walk the weight back when you squat, you can just unrack and squat, and it allows you to get the bar in a much better position over your chest for example for a lift off on bench press when u don’t have a spotter. Makes it much easier to unrack when you don’t have a spotter because you just lift and it swings back them you begin benching

    • @bmstylee
      @bmstylee 3 года назад +2

      @@andrewutter2924 they simulate squatting in a actual monolift. Instead of walking a squat out you stand up and the hooks move out of the way like spotters on a monolift would do. And on a real monolift spotters swing the hooks under the bar after the rep. They can be used for people who suck at unrack on bench. They can be helpful for things like very heavy box squats where you might not want to carry a heavy load and try to find the box.
