    Help...there's water coming out of my light fixture is what this DIY howto video is about. VideoJoe is at his Motha's house visiting & a freak rain storm just came over & rained a bit & now there is water coming out of the side of one of her eyeball can light fixtures. Of course she's not too happy but at least VideoJoe is here to save the day...kind of. Get the tall ladder out & getting up there to remove the eyeball can light fixture trim is a slight chore in itself but I'm sure he's up to the task, ahem. What's he going to do until the rain stops & after the rain stops? Hmmmm not sure just yet. Checking out a light fixture that has water coming out of it is easy...when you know how. Watch & learn as VideoJoeShows you help!...there's water coming out of my light fixture. Uh oh....

    Hope you get this. My bathroom sink upstairs flooded and my ceiling fan downstairs in the kitchen is pouring water. It slowed down since we cut the sink of but it was a lot of water in the light fixture ? What shall I do as I would have to repair myself as I’m a renter

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  Год назад +1

      First off make sure you look at your sink & get it fixed so it won't leak anymore. You might want to find the circuit breaker for the ceiling fan & turn the breaker off for now so someone doesn't get shocked when turning on the ceiling fan or worse. Do you see any other areas on your ceiling where any water has discolored your ceiling? Is your ceiling fan directly under the area where the sink leaked? I would hate for you to have to cut out & remove some of the water damaged ceiling drywall but you might have to do that depending on how much water is still up in the ceiling between 1st & 2nd floor as the water needs to dry up within 72 hours or you will start getting a mold buildup issue. If you caught the leak fast enough you might not have to remove any drywall at the ceiling but if the sink has been leaking for all night for instance you might have lots of area in the ceiling where the water has gone especially if there is any insulation up there since insulation when it gets wet is just like a sponge so you could have water up there for a long time before drying out.

    Help!! I’m having this problem with only 2 lights
    When is below 35 help me on what to do or what is causing this issue thanks. No one can seems to help.

    • @videojoeshows

      Can you give me more information on what your issue is so I can assist further... Sounds like you have a leak in your roof & the water is comiong in & puddling around a drywall seam then the water goes directly over to 2 of your light fixtures...? The best way to find a roof leak is if you can go up in the attic while it's raining then shine a light up to the roof to see where it's dripping from & lots of times the water drip is not necessarily coming directly down from where the roof leak is as the water could be running down a rafter truss then dripping down further than where the roof leak may be. Not always mind you. If you can get up in the attic then you can shine a flashlight in there to see where the roof leak is coming from. You might be able to shine the flashlight up & see a hole that could be in the roof. Please send me another message with more info if need be & I will assist further. Thanks for your message.

    Is it dangerous to turn the light on with water in the light fixture?

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  Год назад +1

      Yes I would not suggest you turning the lights on when you have water dripping! I shouldn't have turned these lights on when I was checking things out. I did turn the lights off before removing the light fixture trim though but good catch! I have more of this project. Not sure what the titles are called but you can go to my main RUclips channel page then click on playlists then scroll down to electrical & I believe they will all be in there. Thanks for your message!

      @@videojoeshows Thanks. Think I should call and electrician to come in or will it just dry out eventually

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  Год назад +2

      @@KH-3414 It won't dry out eventually....until it stops raining but then the leak will still be there on your roof so next time it rains go up in the attic & shine a flashlight to see where it's actually coming in at so you will know how to fix the roof leak. You could also get up in the attic & pull back the wet insulation & place a bucket up there to catch the dripping water so you won't get any mold build up on your drywall backing. If you can catch the leak then you won't have anymore water dripping out or around your light fixture. Leave the lights off until most of the water drips out of the light fixture or until none at all. Now turn the light switch back on & see if your lights still work...I would think they will. Did you watch all of the other videos I did of this project? I also have videos of me locating the roof leak & moving the insulation around in the attic to see where the water is coming in at. You should watch those videos. Just go to my main RUclips channel page then click on playlists then scroll down to electrical & you will find them. I'm pretty sure I have all the videos under electrical but I might also have put them under roof or how to locate a roof leak or something like that. Find them!

      So sorry! Do you have an attic area above your ceiling where the water is coming out of? If so you can crawl up there & find where the water is leaking in from the roof & take a bucket or a big plastic bowl with you & catch the water. Take a flashlight up there so you can see where the roof is leaking so when the rain stops you will know where the leak from the roof came from. I have a few more videos of this particular project so go to my main RUclips channel page & click on playlists then scroll down to electrical or roof leaks & find more videos that may help you out. Let me know how it goes!
