Nowadays a combination of the 30+ years of recession and the fact that traditional animation is literally dying out. As in they are getting old and dead. And the utterly insane production times and 12 episode seasons. Makes something like this impossible
Additionally most of everything you see from back then that has animation this good is from OVAs. OVAs are not like traditional shows in the they had way higher budgets and are more akin to Netflix originals than basic TV shows. The OVA boom died when the Japan economy tanked and studios has to switch to doing everything the "safest" way possible or else risk shutting down. And that meant adapting already successful manga. Hence the shonen boom

Something that modern animation just can't compete with. Although modern animation is beautiful it just misses that something special.
Yes, I mean talking about how the motor joints work and the skeleton, in modern works like Ironman except for Ironman 1 the armors in later movies are completely unattainable Fantasy technology Because you can't get the material to make armor like the Black Panther.

Ah, good old hand-drawn tech. I worry that there aren’t enough animators anymore capable of or willing to draw and animate mecha this detailed.
