Brenda it's sad right !!?? But listen to his thoughts and voice class act.I heard another actor say he is a very kind man and so wonderful to work with. Also hearing he was teaching classes gave me joy. They had figured he was down and out.My boy said he had peace and satification on that job.I can imagine he did ! Go in a Trader Joe's the vibe is nice and filled with community and kindness.Laughin because they got it so wrong. Imagine others working at grocery stores can stand tall ! They have work ,its a job.Love it !!
Sarahs left eyebrow : And, for the people who doubted that Fox is for Elitists, by Elitists, who HATE honest work and the dignity of having a job, I say, are you woke now? WTF is WRONG with those Fox Fux?
Hey Ash, I think it's important that we use the precise sociological term for the hate-filled propaganda that Fox News and right-wing media has now infected our country with -- that is Fascism. If you go to the original unedited Fox article below, you will see a perfect example of what Wilhelm Reich identities as propaganda for the Mass Psychology of Fascism. (The deliberate traumatization of children and separation of families at the border is also classic fascist psychology) Please use these tools to watch for further signs and pass them along! Cheers! Fourteen Defining Characteristics Of Fascism Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each: 1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays. 2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc. 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc. 4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized. 5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution. 6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. 7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses. 8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions. 9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite. 10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed. 11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked. 12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations. 13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders. 14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.
They're so horrible. Why are they Job Shaming him.. I'm glad it backfired and helped him 💙💙💙 *We all gotta have a Hustle..* Gotta make a living Some How!
Honest work by an honest man is reason for respect and nothing less... These that scorn a man for honest work are board and need to find honest work themselves... Outrageous, the depths that some will go... At least it keeps this fine actor in the headlines... Good Luck to him...
He never left. He's been a working actor quite steadily. He's just not an A-list celebrity. There are many working actors who are just like him: a handful of TV/film roles a year, interspersed with theatre, interspersed with "regular" jobs. He has also taught acting. This is totally the norm for most actors, and not all of them are eager to become obscenely rich and famous, attracting all the attention that goes with it.
WOW! Geoffrey Owens is the best! His kindness, goodness, and character are to be commended. What an honorable man. I am so encouraged by this because of how well Mr. Owens has handled this. He was always cool as Elvin on Cosby but Geoffrey Owens is a cool brother! Proud of this man and the greatness he has proven to be outside of the industry. He the stuff that makes this country great!
For gawds sake, how many actors work part time jobs in between gigs? (most of them) This man is working, providing for his family and staying off government assistance... What more can be asked of a hard working American.?
I wasn't an actor, but had one main job. Because they were lapses in my employment because of cancelled shifts, I had to take on side work in second and sometimes third jobs to make ends meet. There's no shame in that. Every job has integrity and honesty and this man is just doing what he needs to do to take care of his family. I respect him for it and I am glad to hear he still acting as well, but I love Trader Joe's. Nothing wrong with that! Acting often has lapses of unemployment in between and Minnie actors go on unemployment between gigs. Elvin is asking for now handouts and he's working. He's a good man and he still cute.
"unintentionally" ??? lol she needs to stop lying that was her intent! to try and shame and humiliate him, she felt she had some "juicy gossip" and wanted to send it around the internet, she was looking forward to her thumbs up and likes as if she had done a "good deed" for "uncovering" this man "dirty secret" but it back fired, he was not trying to hide anything and had no secret! just a man doing what he is suppose to do! try and make ends meet!
Dude takes a store job and continues to act on the side? WHats strange about that? Most actors, musicians, creative people have to do that?!? Props to Geoffrey Owens..
Geoffrey Owens is an awesome actor. And the fact that someone decided to take a picture of him at his job, it was published, and it appeared that the publishing was to intentionally harm his reputation is disgusting. Moreover, it was great that his friends and the people who cares about him came to his defense to prevent the continuation of the possibly sabotaging of his life. Though it appeared that his life was over because he has a regular job, he let it be known that he is not ashamed to have a regular job that is flexible while continuing to pursue his passion to get parts on TV shows. And his life was never over- Great job Geoffrey Owens!
Enlightened🙌🏻 Folks, you can have all the money/status in this world-but to have the kind of clarity Mr. Owens has, that's the end game I want to know!
The man needs to do what a man needs to do - absolutely no shame in that. Good to see a hard working fellow doing what he needs to do, to make a living.
Geoffrey should be respected for supporting his family. The majority of people including many actors have had other jobs other than acting and most important is that they were doing the best they could to work hard for their families rather than having a silver spoon in their mouth and look down on everyone else.
He is an honorable man doing honest work to responsibly and ethically support his family what could possibly be wrong with that? If only the president had these qualities the world would not be in this divisive mess.
a janitor or maid scrubbing toilets, an honest man shoveling out a pigsty or a football plater taking a knee to protest injustice ALL deserve more respect than the entire Faux news team. good on you Geoff.
There is not a single (legal) job that is beneath someone if they are doing it to support their family. If one man is a CEO and another man is digging ditches, and both are doing the job to take care of their families, then the two men are equals.
I was very angry when those pictures surfaced it’s offensive to humiliate someone like that he was just doing an honest day’s work he is a kind lovely person he didn’t deserve what happened he is a great actor he deserves more respect than that
People are ignorant and shallow. They think being an actor= famous=rich=not really working. They also think the Kardashian lifestyle is an enviable goal.
The woman who thought she shamed him if probably a low life who goes into grocery stores and restaurants looking for one hit wonder celebrities or celebrities in general who have fallen off the wagon or have not kept themselves in the celebrity lifestyle. That just shows how immature and small minded she is as a person and one day she may need Geoffrey Owens help for a personal crisis that may take place in her life. You don't do good people like that.
Part of the problem is also the culture of 'celebrity', the notion that to be a someone is to be in the spotlight and looked up to as a successful person and role model. Whereas someone doing a 9-5 job (or several jobs) for peanuts to keep the lights on at home and feed their family doesn't get recognition for their service or sacrifices. It seems many expect those who were once 'famous' to either still be famous or at the very least still be part of the industry that made them a household name. If many folks that criticised people like Geoffrey Owens could do critical thinking, they'd perhaps try to think about logical reasons why that person perhaps is doing a different job to the one they would expect him to be doing. Perhaps they don't want to work in that industry any more, perhaps they are doing that job as a filler until a part comes along they really want to do, perhaps they haven't been offered anything in a while.
Seriously, why I can't watch news anymore. Come to hear a feel good story and they start talking about Trump. Keep up the narrative to get paid no matter what huh, shameful
If he were spotted as a member of SEAL team 6, and someone posted their surprise about that, would that be considered "Job shaming"? Seems like Mr. Owens and others must look down on cashiers and grocery baggers for them to consider the woman's brief post as "shaming".
Geoffrey Owen is the embodiment of class. Happy to see He will be able to engage in his craft.
Vincent Ross : WTF is WRONG with Fox? Talk about ELITISTS??? ‘Coz honest work is “wrong” in some way? Yeah, you’re right. That guy is a class act ✌️ 👍
@Ash Can you imagine if he wasn't working? "OHMAGAWD! Another black man on welfare!"
I totally agree this man oozes class. Go Geoffrey
Legitimate irony trying to put a black man down, only to actually help lift him up even higher than he was before they tried to shame him...
Don't worry...trump will try to take credit, saying hes personally responsible for Geoffrey having a job.
What do you expect from DM and Fox.
You think you have detected racism? The mysterious ways have given him a boost. The ABC appearance he says he just wants the opportunity to audition. Very charming. He sounds like he would be a credit to any employer/any sector. He is just lucky he was not wearing a maga hat at work that day. Leftists would race to bash him with a bike lock and urinate on his store. Stay classy antifa.
I love Trader Joe's and Elvin!!! What is the point of this enitre story...Geoffrey Owens, you are a class act sir.
What kind of world do we live in; where a working person gets mocked? This is insane.
I get more mocked all the time by my own family because I am "just" a caregiver.
Mr Owens is a good man and great role model, in a time when the world is short of both.
Don't call it a come back because he's been here for years.. Karma got her Karma.. cause Elvin gonna be alright.

Good man . Not afraid of work and not asking for handouts.
A real American ?
Someone please give him a big job in television or movies. This man handles himself with dignity! He is not afraid of hard and may I say HONEST work!
Thank goodness. I am going to watch the show!
Jason Ume I heard that Tyler Perry offered him a job, but on which show, Jason? Thanks.
Trader Joe's should hire Geoffrey Owens as the Marketing Spokesman! He would do a fabulous job at it!
Honest work by an honest man is reason for respect and nothing less... These that scorn a man for honest work are board and need to find honest work themselves... Outrageous, the depths that some will go... At least it keeps this fine actor in the headlines... Good Luck to him...

Nikki Beacth you must not have watched the video at all
No shame doing decent job! Good on ya Geoffrey Owens!
Just another reason to hate Faux News......like I need one. SMH
Add Daily Mail, the original source of the story.
Geoffrey Owens is the only actor that I admire. Best wishes in all your endeavours!
Because he's real, not a Hollywood phony
You rock Geoffrey.
CAst him as Ben Carson in the next trump movie
He'd be perfect.
Hmmm I can see that or a young Colin Powell

He did what a man suppose to do. I wish more men was like him. Pride don't Provide for your family.
Fine man!
Any person who's been acting for twenty years and isn't too proud to bag groceries is a salt of the earth person
We should all be as kind and forgiving as this guy.
For gawds sake, how many actors work part time jobs in between gigs? (most of them)
This man is working, providing for his family and staying off government assistance...
What more can be asked of a hard working American.?
He's been in Lucifer as guest actor!!..

A black man being responsible, has a job and still gets shamed for it. This is Trump's America.
Dude takes a store job and continues to act on the side? WHats strange about that? Most actors, musicians, creative people have to do that?!? Props to Geoffrey Owens..
Work is work, earning an honest living is BEING REAL.

A good man. Godspeed Mr. Owen's
Enlightened🙌🏻 Folks, you can have all the money/status in this world-but to have the kind of clarity Mr. Owens has, that's the end game I want to know!
As much as I despise the guy in the White House, WTF does this have to do with him?
What a cool dude
Nice.
Job shaming wow TMZ has been doing this for years
The man needs to do what a man needs to do - absolutely no shame in that. Good to see a hard working fellow doing what he needs to do, to make a living.
Who’s the woman that took the picture? She needs to be put on blast
Geoffrey Owen = Class act!
Respect.
He seems like a really legit good person
I’m 43 and I was 13 when Sandra married Elvin. How the F is Geoffrey Owen 37?
He's 57.
He is 57 yrs old.
He is 57
he has no wrinkles.. no even crows feet and he is almost 60!
Geoffrey should be respected for supporting his family. Geoffrey Owens was on It's Always Sunny. He's very funny, very talented.
Nobody who pursues an honest and legal job can be shamed for it. Anyone who tries to do that anyway only puts the shame upon themselves.
What a lovely man.
this needs to open a twitter.i would follow..
a janitor or maid scrubbing toilets, an honest man shoveling out a pigsty or a football plater taking a knee to protest injustice ALL deserve more respect than the entire Faux news team. good on you Geoff.

He's got an honest job... what's shameful about that?
Well being black is enough, you're damned if u have a job & damned if u don't.
This is the perfect example of what it means to be American, Owens is and Fox news hosts are not.
what a load of crap. How is that Fox News article at all shaming him?
Thank you for coming by, and I bet David Letterman riffs on this one.
Glad to see this wasn't what the title looks like at a glance 😬
The woman who thought she shamed him if probably a low life who goes into grocery stores and restaurants looking for one hit wonder celebrities or celebrities in general who have fallen off the wagon or have not kept themselves in the celebrity lifestyle. NONtroversy is right...so ridiculous
I still dont know what a Trader Joe is honestly.
It's a grocery store...chain of stores all over. Organic vegs fruit ,flowers great wines and cheese. Amazing stores with a community vibe.
Trader joe's is a Grocery store, so he was working as a customer service.
💜💜💜
He has such a sweet face.
How dare they job shame Tiger Woods! #AlwaysSunny
All those people clapping for Trump, are poor or middle class' I would had got up and walked away...
A great guy. I wish he was my neighbour.
It’s amazing how MSNBC and CNN can bring everything right back to Trump. Oh Did I say amazing, I meant annoying.
Somehow they have to bring trump into the equation.
It was Fox news?
Fox News : people need pull themselves up by their bootstraps and not ask for handouts, Also Fox News: what a loser bagging groceries.
Part of the problem is also the culture of 'celebrity', the notion that to be a someone is to be in the spotlight and looked up to as a successful person and role model.
That one thumbs down persons
Man, he seems all over now. Could have pulled a Full Ginsburg.
If he were spotted as a member of SEAL team 6, and someone posted their surprise about that, would that be considered "Job shaming"? Seems like Mr. Owens and others must look down on cashiers and grocery baggers for them to consider the woman's brief post as "shaming".
It's the way they described what he was spotted doing, and the way they worded, that sounded like they're shaming him.
