Thanks so much for your help (I replaced the bolt gasket with a gasket and put a layer of sealant on the radiator gasket to thicken it up a bit and let it cure). Tip: Using a drilled rod with an attachment rapper to line up the pipe and remove the suspension makes the job much easier. I'm from Canada and I did it in -25 degree celcius in a few hours.

Hi There from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. I am doing this job in the next few days and have some parts information for anyone else who is doing this job rather than paying $700 to Nissan for the cooler assembly. This is the pre 2007 QR25DE gasoline (petrol) engine oil cooler, 2007 and later had a different physical style and completely different gasket set. The large O-ring is Nissan 21304-JK20A, the small O-ring is Nissan 21334-30F0A and the block mounting gasket is Nissan 21304-8H700. Thanks Pinoy for your excellent video (music is sort of grating though), good luck to all, hope this helps a bit...

How did it go for you?

@@Investori After removing the passenger wheel, inner fender plastic shield and draining the engine coolant take a few pictures especially where the hoses come down through the mounting strut at the back of the engine, it became apparent that you must drain the power steering fluid to remove the high pressure hose from the rear of the power steering pump, then as Pinoy did, remove the oil cooler coolant hose clamps and hoses from the top of the engine. Attach a string to the hoses so you can replicate their path back through the rear support strut and above the camshaft position sensor?, the hoses must pass through the same path or the cooler won't fit when you go to re-install it. Then try your best to clean the outside of the oil cooler area with something like what I used, non chlorinated brake parts cleaner. The really tough part is trying to see and use drive extensions to take out the 4 bolts holding the cooler to the engine block, I used a combination of 3/8" drive long extensions, u-joints and short and long sockets. When you get the cooler out, inspect the hoses for swelling, I had to replace mine (used OE Nissan), mark the top and bottom positions of the take apart assembly with white paint and also use the original type spring clamps on the hoses at the oil cooler end, the metal parts are quite thin and can get bent out of round if you use the threaded type of screw clamp (overtightening). When you have replaced all the gaskets and torqued the cooler assembly together, re-install and torque the 4 holding bolts to the engine block (difficult but do-able), reattach the power steering high pressure hose (I used 2 new copper washers) and the upper oil cooler coolant hoses, refill power steering fluid and engine coolant. I did this a month ago and there are no leaks, It did take me about 15 hours though, no hoist and very adverse conditions, use a bright light to work with, it's very dark behind the engine. Hope this helps, watch Pinoy's video several times and good luck...

@@Investori You're welcome, hope you are prepared to be patient, I had no idea it would take me so long to complete, of course I had the O-rings and gasket before I started, but had to wait for the hoses from the dealer, just make sure you mark the positions of the take apart pieces before you take them apart, there are no alignment marks on them. Also, I had to be creative about methods to torque down the 4 bolts holding the assembly to the block, but you'll figure it out I'm sure. Good luck, we woke up to an inch (2.54 cm) of fresh snow here today... :)

To make it easy to put back you can put rope in the hose before pulling the oil cooler then use the rope to put back the oil cooler by tying the rope to the end of the hose then you can pull the rope to position the hose to its original location.I forgot to mention on the video to remove the hose of power steering to have more access to the oil cooler.

You better use the wurth brand of o-ring for the the bolt of the oil cooler than using the original o-rings of nissan. Nissan o ring seems made if silicone rubber and it might give you the same issue in the future.Have fun!

Well done. I was looking at possible fix for oil burning smell which I am told is coming from leaking timing chain cover on my t30 2006 XTrail. $1000.00 quote makes too expensive to fix. I will probably have to sell it. Pity because it only has 120,000kl. Good to see you fix your problem yourself.
    Regards
    Mark

Try to clean it with degreaser then wash it with water. Road Test it to locate the exact area of leak then try to tighten the bolt or nuts, this might fixe your problem. You can buy degreaser spray on can on autobarn or supper cheep.

What you can do to make the job easier is to remove the rh front tyres then remove the plastic cover so you can access the timing cover.

how much oil and coolant do you lose when you take the oil cooler off? what is the size of the Wurth o-ring?
UPDATE 01-08-2022: went to the Nissan dealership in Morphett Vale, Adelaide to ask for a repair kit for the oil cooler. Gasket, seal and o-ring, $36-ish. Might as well go there for the parts. A new oil cooler though, close to $1500. That made my eyes water.

Hello po...thank you for your video. It helped me alot. Followed all instructions and oil leak fixed! But now I have a problem. When I ran the engine, the idle became erratic. It's jumping between 1500 to 2000. It was ok before I fixed the oil cooler. Would you know what caused this? Thank you.
