Max realizes the killer will soon strike again - in both versions of reality.

I noticed an interesting fact. Totem animals have an importance here in the universe of life is strange. A deer for Max/Rachel, a butterfly for Chloe, the crow for Chloe's father, for example. Here we have the owl returning from the start, right behind Max. Doesn't this remind you of anyone? Isn't the owl associated with Mark Jefferson? Will he come back for revenge on Max or is it just a wink?
So! Squiere Enix have watched BBC's Tv-show of the Dark Mareria and copied the animal twist from thst great show - 😅😅😅😅 - joking.

I've speculated this for so long and so many times and variations.
There has to be some over arching world that is observing the world or exerting their influence Max and others live within.
Their powers could be bestowed upon them by these animals whether it may be visions or abilities like Daniel, Max, Alex.
I have theorized many times Jefferson would come back to get the one that got away and many times I would not believe it far fetched that Jefferson had powers but a late bloomer.
Can you imagine this guy with any kind of ability? He would be a menace to all
I originally envisioned it as some kind of mind power like telepathy.
He could easily have them awakened in prison, escape and do the evil villain thing.
I wonder if this game will finally talk about these powers and the connection to the totem and or spiritual elements of the world.

I may be wrong but I think this game follows the "Save Arcadia Bay ending" (otherwise where is Chloe indeed?).
Given that Max can create/access different realities (if you know of the comic about the events after the end of the game, then you know just how much Max can do in that regard), then this Max could be from a timeline where she chose to save Arcadia Bay over Chloe. It would not even make the consequences of the possible destruction of Arcadia Bay in other Life is Strange games pointless since they would not necessarily take place in the same reality. Given that, I think we can speculate a few things:
1) Given the fact that in the "Save Arcadia Bay" ending, Jefferson did not murder Chloe (Nathan did it without being prompted to) and Kate did not try to commit suicide, I can definitely see him possibly managing to defect most of the blame onto Nathan and be let out after a few years.
The flaw in him wanting revenge is that in that ending he had no idea Max had any involvement in the way the events unfolded at all since the events of her investigating his activities had been "erased". Of course, he could have just picked up where he left off in a different way.
2) Another idea is that the owl could symbolize Nathan Prescott, whom Jefferson had groomed into his "apprentice" and who has a history of mental instability and killing people with guns. Given that he was under the influence of Jefferson and that his rich and influential father could have done his utmost to shift the blame onto Jefferson if only to lessen the tarnishing of his name, he definitely could have been the one to be let out after only a few years. And given that Max was in the room when he killed Chloe and seemingly didn't do anything to stop it, he might have a bone to pick with her.
3) It could be either of those two, especially since if the "Save Arcadia Bay ending is canon, when David talks to Joyce over the phone in Life is Strange 2, he says "Just hope they won't let him out" without specifying who he is referring to.
4) Of course it could also simply symbolize the antagonist in Max's story, whoever they are, symbolize something completely different or nothing in particular (though I do not think it is the latter).

Hell Yeah!!! Life is Strange is back, baby!!! And, it’s perfect. Halloween is just around the corner.
I think they are going to do the same thing with the previous titles in regard to Chloe. They'll ask you at the beginning what your end choice was and a few select scenes will be different based on that choice. It's likely Chloe won't play a big role in this to keep it less complicated.
I'm hoping that the parallel timeline that Max enters to save her friend, might be a universe with Chloe. And the character at the timestamp 1:34, to me, resembles Rachel. So potentially this alternative timeline has an AmberPrice situation
I hope one day my other favorite series will be back… but I’ll contend with LiS being back… for now. Have to get an Xbox for this. Not a pc player. Oops, I saw on other RUclips places there's also a PS5 edition. I went to my GameMania and they didn't have it up yet, so I'll preorder tomorrow

The Ending where she survived was just an alternate ending, but not the canon one :
What canon? LiS 2 and the True Colors DLC ask what choice you made at the end of 1, this will likely be the same.

I don't think its going to exactly carry on from that storyline, more like using some of the concepts and ideas from the comics. The very conspicuous lack of Chloe is the reason I think that.

If Chloe isn't in this, I guess they went with the sacrifice Chloe ending from the original.
It would actually make sense because of what happened after the ending where they left Arcadia Bay (The Comics).
Thus, I think it takes place in the timeline where Max let Chloe die.
So I don’t think we will see Chloe a lot, maybe in some flashbacks or multiple reality shenanigans.
I think it’s like the Legend of Zelda games where some games happen in one timeline and others not.
It would be weird to have Chloe alive in the main timeline. Dont know what happens in the comics, but it would mean you let arcadia Bay die.
Though in this very trailer Max says something about two timelines, so maybe Chloe is in the other timeline
I always found the destruction ending weird and out of character, just for those people who can't let their bae go. And there's apparently a lot of these people
it's the only ending that wrapped up the game well even though i LOVE chloe, the destruction ending is so abrupt like 'yeah we did that' when the save arcadia actually HAS an ending
i know people will be pissed but since i look at things from a writing perspective it's what makes sense
just like i feel like mass effect has to go with the destroy ending if they plan on continuing
it's great the game gives us choices but if they are going to continue on with characters and give more max content, it makes sense
i don't think they're gonna do that, i would be pretty silly of them to canonise one timeline over the other. chloe's probably going to only have a really minor role in this game to simplify things. at most she'll probably be a cameo or she'll be referenced throughout the game either in past or present tense depending on what you chose in the first game.

Yeah, everyone I know, including an LIS RUclipsr friend of mine are wondering where the heck Chloe is, since she wouldn't you know, go and ditch Max after the ending. And yes, that does include people who have read the comics like myself wondering that.

As excited as i am about this and TRUST ME I AM VERY excited about this, my only nitpicking issue I have is I miss Maxes Bangs....its great that her original voice is back but damn it feels wrong that she doesn't have her bangs.
With all of these super powered teenagers in this franchise, the government should be involved and track the main character down so they can use her for their experiments.
I think they wanted to move away from that trope.
It's been done so many times in holywood however it's very plausible.

It’s not going to be same without Chloe tho I’ll never forgive them for that it should have been another Chloe and max game! I’m happy for those excited, but…I’m personally really skeptical about this. All the LiS games from DeckNine have felt at least a little derivative of the original, and this trailer feels even moreso to me. I mean, the double moon thing was literally a moment in the first game too, framed in almost the exact same way. Plus the whole ‘murder mystery’ thing. I won’t judge it until I check it out for myself, but combined with hearing not great things about stuff behind the scenes at D9, I can’t help but be skeptical.
I am happy for those excited though! And who knows, I could be proven wrong when I actually check it out.
That's fine! And I can understand why, it's a different studio and apparently this is based off the comics, so who knows how they'll handle this and if they're basing any choices from the original game too.

I am just guessing. Either way, Idk how they would have Chloe appear as there are people who chose the Bay ending as well.
Chloe being alive is a determined choice not a guarantee, it makes those types of characters harder to bring back in big roles.
Well In LiS2 she was alive... this is a retcon or maybe they are no longer friends/lovers and Max moved on. That could be an explanation without damaging the lore and continuity, that Chloe is still alive (if that's what you chose in LiS1), but they are separated (basically like at the beginning of the first game, where they didn't speak for years). Plus, this Max seems a lot more adult, you know, things happen.
So anyone else feels like max learned absolutely nothing from Chloe's death ? 😅
SPOILERS FOR SPIDER-MAN 2
(If talking about a side mission can be considered spoilers.)
I hope the next game has a Deaf main character. Hear me out. The animation quality is so good that ASL would actually be understood. It has been proven that a playable Deaf character can be done in an interesting way. Spider-Man 2 PS5 has a side mission where you get to play as up and coming black Deaf artist, Hailey Cooper. You experience the world through her perspective. You can hear some tones and you can't with others. Speech is so muffled that it can't be understood at all. The story was about as interesting as you can get from a side mission where you play a character without superpowers, but the artistic representation worked so well. Her internal dialogue was represented through thought bubbles that had expressions in the form of spray paint art. This is also how she saw other people. Over top of other people's heads were bubbles showing how they were feeling, representing her reading their expressions. Anytime a person who didn't know ASL talked to her, the captions dropped because she could not understand them, so the same experience happened to you as the player. You have to use context clues and alternative communication methods to make your way through her mission, and I think this would be a really interesting concept for a character in a mystery game. You, as the main character, can't rely on over hearing conversations or quick easy communication (unless said NPC knows ASL). A playable Deaf character would not only be unique and help add more inclusion to this amazing game universe, but it would mean so much to the Deaf community to have more than one accurately represented character in gaming.
Just hear me out: This will take place after the "save Arcadia Bay" ending and Max will find a parallel universe Chloe, making her very emotional and causing an internal conflict that will result in a choice towards the end of the game that will be the deciding factor between two major outcomes.
Just a thought... Or is it?

im playing it 100% but not having chloe in it as an option is straight up just not satisfying it makes me feel like the choices at the end of lis1 didnt even matter
@indeedd well they can't really have her be a main point since not everyone chose to keep her alive, so focusing on new people is the best choice

i feel like since there's parallel universes in this game there will be one universe where chloe is alive and one where she isn't. maybe the choices you make determine which one max stays in at the end ?? at least I hope that's how it happens because I prefer the ending with chloe living in lis1 and it would suck for that not to be an option here

I kinda fell off this series with LiS2 (seriously, I couldn't be bothered to finish chapter 1) but this could be a comeback.
But what about Chloe? I know that bae vs. bay is always discussed but let's be honest, in a story about time travel, parallel universes and Max having better powers, there are probably a dozen ways to resolve this. Maybe the trailer is intentionally not telling us everything and there will be a big surprise/reunion. Don't get me wrong, I love Max but without Chloe I would be very disappointed. I've been hoping to see them both again for the last few years but maybe it's just wishful thinking. We'll see... 😩
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm excited to see a Max focused story without Chloe. Max is a really interesting and relatable character with a lot of facets (and Hannah Telle is great in the role) but I feel like anytime she gets focus (especially after the first game and in the fandom) she's inevitably tied to Chloe. Having a game that either doesn't have Chloe in it or relegates her to a minor role, as this one seems to be doing, will help to highlight and develop other aspects of her characterization that have been left behind a bit throughout the years since the original game came out. Just my opinion though.
