US shale gas is not only more expensive but also may not be as sustainable as russian gas. I think I read somewhere that the US is considering limiting its export. So even if Germany could afford it, there would not be enough to power its industry. Perhaps its a disguised way for coercing the germans to delocalize in the USA.

In addition, vassalizing Europe which is the second or third economy in the world is a way to say the USA matters politically, militarily and ultimately economically: the US$ is and will still be relevant because it has so much control over such a huge market.
They denied Russia the energy market of a rich european nation. Doing the same type of thing to China (in other sectors) was to be expected.

If you join the USA in an alliance, such as NATO, in the World today, you'll also be dragged into endless wars, except his MIC is benefitting from wars, whilst your people are just either unwitting funders, or even worse, cannon-fodders. But I think some in NATO are just trying to behave like "kept partners" in a relationship. If so, please wake up and be a person who is strong enough to avoid being free-loaders in national defence. This is because if you don't, then you are a "kept person" who has no sovereignty of one's own existence. You'll be like a covert slave of the partner who has given you some help in your upkeep.

Big difference between shutting down and blowing up. Additionally, Russia shut down because Canada, under US sanctions, would not release parts that needed to be replaced. US blew up the pipelines to make 100% certain that German government didn't get weak knees and OK the import of Russian gas. Germany turned out to be just another vassal state doing what the US tells it to do.

Everywhere you look in Western countries, such as Canada, the US, Germany, the UK, etc., the situation worsens by the day. Real income is shrinking, and house prices are soaring, making owning property a distant dream. Lena Petrova's channel recently released a video stating the dramatic American debt burden of more than 35 trillion. Every social program is about to run out of funds as the interest on that astronomical debt increases by $1 trillion every 100 days. Can you imagine this? The situation in the UK is very dire. Not to mention that the Western population is finding out that they have very little to say regarding enforcing their interest upon their "elected" governments. Sounds appalling!

I was born in Germany, and now live in Canada, Germany is still an occupied country with little to no sovereignty, occupied by more than 30.000 US soldiers who stayed in the country after the wall fell and the Russian army retreated. Its leaders are cheerleaders of the USA and unlike Merkel don't have the backbone to stand up for their citizens and fulfill their constitutional duties to keep harm away from the country and its citizens. This has the consequences of a slow death of their small and midsize enterprises, the backbone of their economy, and the relocation of their large enterprises to other parts of the world. The question is for what reason? It is certainly not Ukraine, "western value "" rules-based order, " or whatever foreign minister Baerbock claims. It is simply Germany got in the crossroads of a falling world power(USA) and the new rising power centers China and Russia. I am afraid the German elite made the wrong choice and the Germans have to bear the consequences of failing to balance the relations with the great powers.

As a German, I'm ashamed of my governments short-sightedness and spinelessness. To be honest, I expected Germany's economy to decline, based on bad political decisions ( exit of nuclear power, despite solid industry in that field for example ), but it never really happened and we pulled through - that's until we seperated our long year ties with Russia and therefore lost access to a cheap and reliable energy source. Germany's industry powerhouse now seems to be under pressure, due to being internationally less compatitive for this very reason. @Cyrus, got any advice for fluent Chinese speaking German nationals, if Germany's base economy keeps further declining?

Nuclear energy exit in Germany hass been going by the established parties ever since the Fokushima incident in 2011, despite having modern solid leading tech in nuclear and being in one of the safest geological areas far away from any possible natural desaster sources. All fot the sake of catching geen patry votes and despite nuclear being one the be solutions to tackle climate change due to compared one of the lowest CO2 outputs per Megawatt. But no! we even went to increase our energy production with gas and coal! Therefore worsening climate change and even our curent very foreseeable situation with soaring high energy prices. The policies for renewable engergy like wind power generation have also been a bad joke, as they were funded with government aid, but time limited, so therefore existing working plants got dismantled just because the funding ended. Our Government is abad joke and I'm ashamed of their actions and short-sightedness.

The remaining nuclear power plants only contributed about 6% to the total German energy production and their shut down was already planned for a while. For the nuclear power plants there was no way to extend their runtime. The main issue was that there was no nuclear fuel for them left and you can not just buy some in the store. To produce this takes time. In addition the contracts of a lot of the personal used to operate the plants had not been renewed. This means even if they would have got somewhere the fuel they would not had the personal to operate the power plant because they were already hired by other companies. Finally as it was planned to shut down the power plants they did not do the required regular inspections and maintenance. This means the companies that operated the power plants would have had to invest a lot of money in maintenance in order to switch them on again. They opposed this because there were already replacement power plants (mainly renewable energy and natural gas) in place. Therefore it was cheaper for them to use expensive natural gas then invest again into the nuclear power plants.

SWIFT was created where all the Countries have their (fiat ... today, not Gold) USD's. In time, USA got rid of the Gold based USD's by stop printing it on their USD paper of old, and left it blank. Gold rose drastically, but the gold USD became the fiat USD, where USA told Countries to TRUST US, we'll maintain the USD's value, but that was not true. USA learnt to PRINT USD's as much as they wanted, because it was fiat. Each time USA prints fiat USD's, the USD is devalued, and is weakened (USA calls this inflation). It got to a stage where a Country was given a fiat USD in a promise that if they provide the resource to USA, then they can use their fiat USD to buy the equivalent whenever they're ready. However, when the Country went to spend their fiat USD, they did NOT get the promised equivalent in purchase as they gave USA in sales. The countries became poor. In recent times, USA has even closed off the SWIFT accounts of Countries that do not bow to them, or if USA does not like their Government/religion, etc. They are doing this to Afghanistan, holding off $3 Trillion fiat USD's so their government can not provide decent Civic Infrastructures to their citizens, or even cheap Civic Services for them. And now, USA has done that to Russia, and are giving Russia's fiat USD's to Ukraine to buy USA weapons. Hence why countries bow to USA in fear of their economy being taken by USA under any excuse they come up with.

As far as I know, Russia has not reduced gas delivery to Germany on its own, but EU sanctions made payments for gas delivery impossible, money transfers by the banking system were sanctioned. Insofar EU sanctions stopped gas purchase of pipeline gas. Of course, Russia was allowed to deliver gas without being able to receive payments. So the EU can claim that Russia decided to stop gas deliveries, forgetting to mention that itself blocked payments. So the EU shot itself and especially Germany in their own knees.

    @vincenttayelrand 10 месяцев назад +53

The collapse of German manufacturing is very real as I can literally see it happening from my office window. Two out of three businesses leaving Germany is bit much though. Many German companies are small and highly specialized so setting up shop elsewhere is simply not a viable option.
There is another huge problem in German industry (and in the industries in the nations surrounding it) and that is that the workforce is aging so rapidly that no amount of innovation is going to compensate for that. People will retire and the knowledge of the work floor will be lost - forever. I have seen very profitable companies close shop simply because nobody is left to keep the machines running.
As to Volkswagen and other German automakers; they have already realized that they can not survive on their own in China's competitive market. So some of them have opted for buying minority stakes in the most promising Chinese auto manufacturers instead. My guess is that other German multinationals will try and do the same thing to appease Washington.
You mentioned ASML. The Dutch government is so worried that they will leave the Netherlands that they have now launched 'operation Beethoven' to keep this company within its borders. The Dutch press who recently brought this news identified France as a possible new haven for ASML. However I believe that this piece of (mis)information was deliberately planted to get the real culprit, the US, off the hook.
In the grand scheme of things Europe and its industries could easily stand up against American bullying. Kissinger has also said that without Europe the US is just a big island. In other words - the US needs Europe much more than Europe needs the US. However with the current European decision making class this is unlikely to happen.
I used to be in European politics and I have witnessed firsthand how the American influence is everywhere. The US state department has been very good at identifying and sponsoring Atlanticist (pro-American) talent for decades. Anybody who is anybody in Europe has ties to Atlanticist organisations. These organizations make sure that their proteges are well taken care off when they inevitably leave office - their loyalty to the US will pay off handsomely. As a result most of Europe's decision makers and the upcoming generation are dogmatic Atlanticists.
The status quo is wonderful for the Washington cabal - it is terrible for 750 million Europeans. The US destroyed Japan's economy in the late eighties to make America's ICT boom possible. They may be attempting to do the same thing to Europe today.

I can tell you about the daily spending here, comparing 3 years ago and now, my normally grocery shopping per month is 100 Euro and now is 150 EUro, fresh fish has doubled per gram, energy cost is def. expensive, to eat in a restaurant per person normally cost max 16 Euro including drink but now it's about 25 Euro/person, restaurant tax has increased from 17% to 19%, transport like S-bahn has increased with horrible service, the endless strike from transportation, airport, farmers, politics, etc. I once read that about 30% of the population won't be able to afford a holiday this year. @CyrusJanssen You might want to add to your story, the fact that one of the US number one lapdogs, Norway, already had a new gas pipelie ready for opening the day after the Nordstream pipeline was sabotaged. Norway has capitalized enormously on this, and now has 35% of the entire European gas market. Meanwhile the Norwegian nationalized broadcasting system "NRK" doesn't even mention it. They won't speak of the sabotage that was most likely perpetrated by American special forces, using a purpose built submarine built by the Norwegian "Kongsberg-Group", as Seymor Hersh spoke of in length. The tracking of the US military specialy built vessel to transport such a sub, and the subsequent tracking to a joint western armed forces exercise to the very spot where the pipeline was blown up, is just not talked about. It was such an embarrasment for Norwegian politicians, that our Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, chose not to be part of the grand opening of this pipeline in Poland, but rather attended graduation at a vocational school in southern Norway that no-one had ever heard of. I'm guessing he was strongarmed into participating in the sabotage, and lost face. The Norwegian national budget has jumped almost 100% last year, yet the poluplation is being exploited horrendously due to increased taxes. Sales tax is 25%, inflation is more then 5% pr. month, while our statistics bureau claims it's pr year, and as a people we're getting poorer and pooorer. All public infrastructure is being destroyed by lack of maintenance. Roads are being made undriveable with speedhumps, restrictions and roundabouts, rebuilt roads or new ones are being made narrower and narrower to the point that they're downright dangerous just to mention what is blatantly obvious to anyone visiting. As a Norwegian I'm utterly ashamed of my country for participating in this hostile action towards Russia, a neighboring country, and it will continue to be so for the foreseeable furture. US expansionist colonialism must stop immediately. Besides, politicians are so stupid they should be banned and be replaced by an elder council of smart people in each and every country worldwide. 衷心感謝這個頻道的博主Mr. Janssen.

It was MAGA Sanctions and Trade-Blockade which forced Germany to take US LNG Gas before the Pipeline was even destroyed.
It was MAGA which sanctioned and boykotted the Pipeline.
German companys are allowed to move to England,USA, Canada and open shop there.

Germany is at war now with Russia in case you hadn't noticed. Germany is also collaborating in Israel's attempt at genocide in Gaza. Germany was a major player in the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia and the division of the country into ethnic enclaves. Also the neocon war in Afghanistan...
Banning nukes has had little to do with Germany's energy woes. That's all about sanctioning itself from cheap, 'clean' natural gas from Russia. Closing nukes in the midst of all that is evidence of the stupidity of the gov't. Burning Australian coal and importing Russian LNG from India at 4-6 times the price isn't very smart either, not to mention 'Green'. Nukes will not save Germany even if it had decades to build them.
Just because there aren't German men on the ground firing weapons does not let them off the hook for their complicity.

At the point of the final "Merkel"-exit from nuclear
_(dont forget, there was a negotiated, planned exit strategy in place that had been sketched out with the the industry. Which she first broke off unilaterally, and then after Fukushima instantly re-instated a kind of ban, but under different far more slapdash and less industry-involved conditions. The red-green exit paper she ripped up was actually far more systematic and industry-friendly.)_
only a measely 3,2% of germanys power constumption was provided by nuclear reactors. and about half of that small fraction was imported.
Soooo - no, that wasnt it. The effect of shutting down 1/30th of production capacity was not the singular or even main reason for current price hikes. Not even close.
That was mainly on relying on gas and now having to buy it at double to triple the price from the US than what russia took.

Alongside with a world war in europe in general with the goal being a repeat of the outcome of WW2 where the US can reap the benefits of its competitors collapsing each other, leaving it with in the monopoly position and business for rebuilding. The russia part of the plan has failed hard, but the europe part seems to be succeeding very well.

As someone who loves Germany and visits the country 3-4 times a year I am really perplexed at how the country with Europe's biggest economy is just taking it all lying down.

    • @Runenschuppe
      @Runenschuppe 9 месяцев назад

Because the German population is broken and terrified. People know they are getting screwed over, but it all seems like a choice between pest and cholera. And every time someone actually dares to speak up, they are systematically ostracized by being labelled "right-wing", "racists" and "conspiracy theorists". And because of Germany's history those labels hit far harder than anywhere else. Combine that with a population which is generally largely apolitical (with the exception of strong leftists and green movements) and a completely captive globalist media and politics and the people are easily cowed into silence.

8:35 I remember hearing something about the media companies in germany are actually legally forced to report favorably on the US as part of the conditions for peace after WW2. That's probably why. It's still an occupied country. I hear it's not even officially a country legally, but some sort of managerial company, which is why they don't have a constitution but just a basic law ("Grundgesetz") as replacement, while germany the nation is still listed as enemy nation that will not be legally released until WW2 debts are repaid. Or something along those lines. It's been a very long time since I came across that information.

No need to go anti-semitic. History between Jews and Germans is obviously heavy but Germany is one of of the biggest supporters of the State of israel, even when Israel is clearly in wrong. I have been living and working in Germany and a lot of German genuinly feel embarassed about the Second World War and have a sense of permanent debt towards Jews and Israel. When i was in Germany there was an terrorist attack to a sinanogue in a German city I cannot remember exactly which one. it infuriated a lot of my German colleagues which fumed along those lines"" We cannot allow this. After all that WE did to Jews we cannot allow Jews to be again victims in Germany". IMO this demostrates greatness of German people. When it comes to your underlying anti-semitism i dont even want to go there. It is perfectly valid to criticise politics and policies of Israel but could you do it without being anti-semitic.

Absolutely, they still worship these woke left and green parties who made the damage and blame the conservatives - which are almost non existant. CDU/CSU shifted to left, same for FDP leaving AFD the only party from the right wing. But they have been blamed beeing the old Naz (which is totally wrong) but they where successful with that and are a weak party. But still the lefties blame them for everything they mess up... my opinion: Germany is gone, it's a meanungless 3rd world country now, they joind france whi was the inventor of wokeness and suffer way longer from that than anybody else.
