This was very interesting. Same as the video on petals under the sea, except applied linearly (resulting in linear action). Wonderful. Strengthening to the stomach also, especially for people with flabby tummies..! Very helpful in understanding directions. Thank you. ;)

This should not be nothing new, to those who have been seriously training in traditional Karate! But it is refreshing to see that most of us have been on the correct path for many years in our Karate and Kobudo training! Master Chen is one in a thousand and his explanations are from the Chinese side of self-defense where most of us are from the Japanese side of Budo! The body mechanics are almost identical only the techniques are different!

Mr Calandra is a very dedicated and accomplished martial artist. He was also in the NYPD until retirement. So practicality is foremost for him. He wouldn't be doing this if it didn't work. And it works for those who were lucky enough to find a legitimate teacher and who put in the work. "Internal" arts are not easy. But their principles are universal in all effective fighting arts, particularly in the generation of power. To effectively use it in fighting you have to learn how to fight with it, you need to spar or do two man sets under the tutelage of a teacher who knows how to fight. These videos show you concepts, not fighting. The next stage is to use the concepts in fighting practice.

Unreal that people fall for this bullshit. There’s not a single video of him sparring with anyone to validate his garbage.

Please be respectful. I've been waiting a long time for Mr Calandra to open the comment section. People don't need to do things to be validated by people they will never see.

You are phenomenally ignorant. There is a video of one of his students in a Muay Thai bout in Thailand...the results speak for themselves. That Thai guy had no idea wth was happening. Better yet, go train with Chen Zhonghua for 1 day. You will have to swallow your words.

@@huwhitecavebeast1972 one video you say? I’d love to see it, considering in the entire “practical method” channel there is not a single video showing the techniques in action.
It’s already been proven that self defense starts and ends with combat sports. Xia Xiaodong takes these guys on over and over and absolutely embarrasses them, bc he’s had to pressure test his techniques.
