I appreciate this video Sensei Calandra. There's a Goju-Ryu dojo in my hometown of Jax, FL that I'll be joining that has a Makiwara installed. Tbh I was intimidated by it because as a kickboxer I'm so use to the heavybag and upon seeing this crude device I didn't know what to make of it lol This video helped tremendously.

There’s picture of Motobu Choki standing at the makiwara using a nakadaka /midle knuckle fist?,,,stuck a makawari in a 10 gal of concrete with a modified bottom. It’s very directional.
