Maybe it's nostalgia but this depiction of the Moomins has the perfect mix of magic, mysticism and tinge of sadness... the music and narration. Perfect!
I cannot stop becoming a bit weepy eyed when I watch the early episodes of the Moomins. As I used to watch it with my mum. As we used to view it on my mum and dad's television for our son who was only a few months old at the time. He is 39 in two month's time. Sadly my mum is no longer with us.
Ahhh but what lovely memories. I used to love the Moomins too and this brings back all kinds of memories. Im feeling very melancholic. Your mum is probably on a cloud floating around like the Moomins. Happy and joyful with the butterflies.
Absolutely baffled by people saying this used to freak them out. I dont know if they're being a bit histrionic (as people often are in RUclips comments), but this was the most gentle show. The way it depicted the changing seasons was just beautiful, as is the animation.
Hmm..the Grok was a bit scary. And there was kind of a weird (but very appealing) vibe about the whole thing to me as an 11 year old kid. Fun fact: when I watched it for some reason I thought it was set in Czechoslovakia or some eastern bloc country (probably because the credits were in Polish, which I didn't realise at the time, plus we seemed younger a lot of Czech cartoons back then) It was until I moved to Sweden that I realised Tove Jansson was a Swedish speaking Finn and it was set in Finland! The snufkin was always my favourite character, even though he was also a bit scary sometimes. These days I realise what an anarcho-communist he is, which just makes me like him more :-)
Same here , they just have a nicer feel to them in a weird spooky , slightly worrying but innocent way. The them tune sets it up nicely. Please like and subscribe and it helps get the videos out there.
