They get used to it bcoz they love it and not having it just because the mind is forcing them to eat healthy. Its more about a wholesome balanced meal than just running away from certain food item (which is our age old tradition).

    Hi mam, can I avoid poha...my husband has sugar problem and he doesn't eat poha, rice or wheat. Will it hv any effect on batter if avoided? One more thing...here in Mumbai where I live , kodo millet is white...and yrs is brown? How ...?

    • @nurturinghomes
      @nurturinghomes  Год назад +1

      If you avoid poha , the idli's will not come out to be soft and dosa will be very dry...since millets are very drying in nature. Specially if one is not used to eating millets regularly and just developing taste of it..then they will not like it at all.
      I bought organic unpolished variety of todo millet ..thats y the colour is nor pure white.

    • @nurturinghomes

      I also believe that poha can be eaten by diabetic patients (since poha is less processed, though rice and wheat can be totally avoided) in limited quantity but still check with your doctor. Also, this recipe will not give you a prominent Taste of poha at all.

    You say to wash the millet only once. But other dietician say that millets should be washed for 3 to 4 times so that the there is some acid which will be released. So what which is correct

    • @nurturinghomes
      @nurturinghomes  Год назад +1

      honestly, millets are supposed to be washed only once so there nutritional value stays intact. moreover, always make sure to buy good quality organic unpolished millets.

    • @nurturinghomes
      @nurturinghomes  Год назад

      No… both are two different millets.
      Kodo is also known as kodra.
      Ragi is also known as nachni or finger millet

    Hello @Nurturing Homes. I soaked the kodo millet for a whole day. I wanted to make khichdi of it so I pressure cooked it, yet it tasted like its grainy (kind of husk on it). Can you please give some tips to how to cook it properly?

    • @nurturinghomes
      @nurturinghomes  Год назад +1

      kai log chawal prefer nahi karte, health reasons ki wajah se, toh unke liye poha ya dahi is the best option :)

      rice has its own benefits. One can't eliminate carbs completely from the diet for the simple reason that they are energy giving food. All we have to do is control the portion of how much we consume it . Hope this helps
