  • This ride takes us over the famous cobble stone Tremola road, reaching the Gotthard pass from Airolo, in Ticino, the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, and descending the North side of the Alps and into the German speaking part all the way to Altdorf. The Tremola San Gottardo was built around 1830, building out an important alpine crossing and making it accessible for horse drawn postal carriages. As a result, it winds up over 24 hair pins at medium grade and on relatively wide cobble stones. These days the road is used only for leisure as the transit traffic uses the Gotthard Tunnel and a sweeping highway to cross the Alps. The ride starts at the train station of Airolo, follows a small local road (including an encounter with a snake if you watch carefully) and then connects into the Tremola which soon switches to cobble stone, displaying breathtaking switch backs and a beautiful road layout. Once arriving at the top of the Gotthard pass, the ride goes down, down and further down, shedding 1600m of elevation on the descend.

This is so cool! I recently moved my 65 inch SONY to my exercise room and played some of my old resolution cycling videos, horrible! When this rider starts going down the mountain, I feel like I am him, it is like that Sky America ride at malls. This rider catches up with motorcycles. Not to mention the absolutely gorgeous outdoor scenery for those of us who will never experience that kind of ride. Great ride!

Amazing video. No more staring at walls or out the window for me while riding my stationary bike . This is a game changer for me. My doctor advised me to start exercising more and after discovering your video I find exercising to be fun and less boring. Time goes by fast. I like it without the music, too.

Tremendous! What a beautiful travelogue. Of all the bicycling videos I've seen, I've never seen one without a soundtrack. A great rider with outstanding fortitude. How does the camera never stray from the road? How do we not hear riders heavy breathing. After all, he's climbing the Alps for an hour and a half! Well done, and thanks.

Great indoor cycling video. What a ride uphill on cobblestones, wow. The scenic mountains, and I see the Matterhorn? ❤

I really enjoyed this video. I like that there is no music and the cyclist is going slowly so I can watch the beautiful scenery! This is a five star ride! Thank you for sharing as I cycled indoors on a cold grey morning in Nebraska.

To me it seems, that he is really doing the trip on a race bike and this is a tough climb! I once had to give up this climb to the Gotthard due to snow in August ...

Let's lift the mystery - It's a he! And yes, I am riding on a regular bike, actually a gravel bike with road tires. That is why I am 'going slowly'. I can't go much faster :) Thank you for liking my videos, shows me it is worth investing the time creating them.

Magst Du vielleicht was zum Setup sagen?

Alles Gute.

I am a huge BTW fan but had to turn this one off after just a few minutes. The side-to-side camera movement was making me sick.
