I wonder why he did not answer more directly, he kept saying “I think.” The answer is an unequivocally YES, because it’s God’s Fourth Commandment. A side note, I am one of those first responders he mentioned, as the Lord saved me on the Lord’s Day during a gun battle, as a police officer, at a church on the Lord’s Day. But Lord willing, He later granted me days off on the Sabbath.

@@Job395-wx1cy The word is used here to reference the “ seventh day” that is mentioned in verse 4. The explanation is in Vs 10 “ for he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His”
Look at Psalm 95:11 (referenced in vs3).
Those who exercise faith in Jesus Christ and His Finished work will enter into “ His rest “. The unbeliever will not enter into this perfect rest of God. This Spiritual rest is not something incomplete ( like the physical rest). This Spiritual rest is based on the FINISHED WORK which Christ completed on the cross

Interesting hearing a preacher complain about not getting enough rest while discussing the Sabbath of God as a day of rest. 😂 Perhaps this is why its a narrow path. Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Keep the commandments of God.. at the end of the book? Golly, its almost like God knew the deceptive gameplan of the enemy. Pity we are too thick sometimes. Thank God for his law and the grace of Jesus because we are all a little thick sometimes. ❤

Christians should keep the Sabbath, the one from the Creation, the 7th day. We can't say the Lord's Day is the 1st and then say that is equal to Sabbath, because it should be the 7th and not the 1st.
Jesus itself went to the synagogue on Sabbath. He rested on the Sabbath in the tomb, and on the 1st day He rose. This means that, if our plan is to be more like Jesus, we need to observe the correct rest day, and stop thinking that the day that we choose to rest is secondary.
Isaiah 66:23 states that we will keep the Sabbath in Heaven. We should try our best to rest on the correct day and stop trying to change the Scriptures to what fits our schedule.

The Shabbat (day of rest) is different than the Lord’s Day (resurrection day). Shabbat was established by God and He set it apart and blessed it. It is for us to remember that He created the world and everything in it. He rested on this day and He wants us to rest as well. I also see it as a day to focus on Him introspectively. The Lord’s day is a celebration that church established. A day to gather, worship, and celebrate the Lord’s resurrection. Therefore, we should strive to keep the traditional Shabbat. I’m not talking about following it according to the rules that were added by the Jewish religious authorities. I’m saying, honor the 7th day (Friday evening to Saturday evening) as a rest day and meditative day with God. Keep this day Holy free from willful sin. We should be striving for this all the time but especially on the Shabbat IMO. Don’t get me wrong, I’m NOT talking about following legalistically to satisfy the law of Moses, but spiritually to honor God’s special set-apart day. God would not have permanently established this 7th day sabbath if it wasn’t important. Who are we as the church to disregard God’s Word and disregard His Shabbat? Who is man to change the Shabbat to the 1st day just because we want to worship God on Sunday? This makes no sense. We can worship God any day! Again we should keep both Shabbat (7th day Friday evening to Saturday evening) and the Lord’s Day out of love and respect for Gods and His Word. As a long time Christian i have been very blessed doing this. Blessings to all!

Did you know Yahushua (real name) was also resurrected on the Sabbath? He was already gone by Sunday at the end of the Sabbath (sunrise to sunrise before babylonian captivity)
Matthew 28:1 In the END OF THE SABBATH, AS IT BEGAN TO DAWN TOWARD the first day of the week (Sunday) came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Ever wonder how they get 3 days & nights from Friday evening til Sunday morning? He was crucified on Wednesday, the Lord of the Sabbath rose on the Sabbath. Daniel 9:27 says midst of the week, also He ONLY ended sacrificial law. We're still supposed to follow all the commandments & rainbow covenant. This resurrection on sun(god)day worship is more lies brought to us by the wolves leading all the churches

Not 100% untouched by the lying pen of the scribes BUT back in those days pretty much only the aristocracy was literate so even though certain words may have been mistranslated these bibles were as close to the original as possible. Daniel 9:27 even says
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the MIDST OF THE WEEK (crusified on wedn) He shall cause the sacrifice & oblation to cease (ended sacrificial law only) & for the overspreading of abominations He shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, & that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

@@DumbDog_Barking but again, "dawning toward the first day of the week" , means that the first week of the day was beginning; this simply meant that Mary and her counter parts were heading there early in the morning. Otherwise, if it meant something else then Matthew would be contradicting with Mark 16:1-2, Luke 24:1 John 20:1 (KJV)
Well, we could say that He resurrected on Sabbath night, but, Matthew 28:1-2 shows us that it happened (the earth quake and angel descending & rolling the tomb stone) as the first day of the week was Dawning (beginning).
And besides He wasn't crucified on the passover because Luke 22 shows us He had the last supper and arrested during the passover, then the next day He was taken to the likes of Pirate and Herod; and crucified.
Reading through Mark 15, more specifically verse 45 to 47; Jesus was buried before Sabbath.
His crucifixion, death and burial clearly happened on the same day.
And besides, why would all the writers noted the first day of the week if it wasn't something of significance?
      John 20:19 emphasizes this again.
Then hints of it in Acts 20:7 & 1 Corinthians 1-2
I agree that we should look at things we discernment but again we can't just get a verse that favours our narrative and run with it, this has been done by many false teachers and I hope we all get enlightened to the truth of Christ. Otherwise, I like the fact that we have this exchange.

If the Holy Spirit abides in us, and walks alongside us, how can we not be continually in His presence?
I believe we are always being watched by spirit entities. When I started becoming "modest" as a little girl, I asked the Father to have the angels standing watching me, to turn their backs to me, and Himself, as well, lol. They did, and always do, now.
I saw about 4 entities at that time. I've since learned that there is one, that was assigned to me specifically. But, at times he has to call on other angels to help battle against what's attempting to get at me, or, when I pray about things, he needs help to fight on my behalf.
Believers need to quit grieving, and quenching, the Holy Spirit, whose abiding in them. My advice? Throw up your hands and surrender to God. Let Him drive you to where He wants you to go. Quit resisting Him in your spirit man, and thought life.
Believe what the Word of God says. We are not alone.
Let God change your thinking. 2 Cor 10:5, "We take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ". Our battle is with our minds, and the thoughts that come in? Put on the Mind of Christ. Get out of God's way, and He'll change you, amen!!!
I pray, that all that trusts in God, and reading comments here, hear, and see, the truth that's written in the Bible, and found in Christ. It is Spirit and is only profitable when we learn to walk by our spirit man. It's why we have been born again from His seed. Incorruptible. Eternal. Come to Life in Christ, amen!!!
We are blessed, Lord, and pray you bless us more, amen!!!

Jessie. I am not here to argue but to point out in the scriptures where we gather that Paul prohibited ceremonial observences as they were shadows and figures of Christ. Good He seventh day at creation pointed to a future rest, but the first day after the resurrection points us backward to the cross. Where we begin the week with our Sabbath. Remembering our rest has come. Several places in the new testament we see the first day being singled out as the day where the disciples met for several things , such as , the preaching g of God's word , and that all the day long . ( Acts 20:7) in 1 Corinthians we see the apostle Paul commanding the saints when they meet to break bread that they are to lay up in store for the poor of the church in other places , and in that very same epistle Paul says that he only delivered to the churches what was first delivered to him by Christ , for my friend how could an apostle command that which Christ had not Himself commanded ? Therefore , to meet in the first day as the church was an explicit commandment given to Paul from Christ. Search these things . In the same book to the Corinthians Paul only hands down the traditions handed down to Him. Be only commands what he received. These very words of the apostle prove that he could not command what was not commanded. The apostle John calls it " the Lord's Day" and the only other place in scripture where God sets His name on a day is Isiah 58 where He calls it " my holy day" and also , He puts His name on the Lord's supper, where we are expressly forbidden to trample upon in some unholy way. Would we trample upon His day? It is true that Christ is our rest and yet the old testament saints also looked to Christ for rest. The Sabbath is not a burden but truly to the believer it is the greatest day of rest. It is a day where we can lay aside our worldly burdens and draw near to God with His people, sing His praises, hear His word. And what burden is in that ? Is it a burden laid upon the backs of believers to serve God? Is not heaven an eternal rest from sin and worldly labour? Therefore to call the Sabbath a burden is to call God a burden.

The Sabbath was fulfilled by Christ, who is the Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:27-28). He rose from the dead on the first day of the week, which is called the Lord’s Day in the New Testament (Revelation 1:10). The Sabbath is a celebration of Christ’s resurrection and victory over sin and death.
The early church also understood this and celebrated the Sabbath on the first day of the week as can be seen from acts 20:7 and one Corinthians 16:2.

We could murder, adulterate, steal and covet; and it be of no consequence? Read into the context of what was fulfilled, "for the wages of sin is death", whether it be the blood of a lamb, bullock, pigeon, or your own when you have to account; sin = death, but praise God for the gift of Jesus Christ, who has fulfilled the requirement of this law, that by His death and the grace imparted thereof, we, the meek and lowly only need to believe in the "only name under heaven by which we might be saved" and we are, because of "He, who knew no sin became the sin for us that we might recieve the righteousness of God." This is the meaning of, "I have not come to destroy the Law, but to fulfill it."

@e.t.h.559 and to your second point, the early church kept the Sabbath, and they did meet on Sunday, just as we too do today, having a midweek fellowship, yet we are not called to keep that day holy. Search back through the history of Sunday worship and it will trace back to the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD, (the 1st ecumenical council) here the roman emperor Constantine brought the different factions to the table to iron out thr early church disagreements, here the council mandated the day of rest and worship as "the venerable day of the sun", even the Catholics admit the 7th Day is the True Sabbath, and it was changed by them by their inherent power over the law. (Hence the Catholic 10 Commandments are different from the those written in Exodus 20). So we echo the words of Joshua, "choose you this day whom you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord".

If there is such a thing as a Christian Sabbath, are there such things such as Christian New Moons, and Christian Festivals/Feasts? Usually all 3 are mentioned together in the same package. Verses such as Eze 45:17 seems to suggest that even in the Gospel day (let the reader understand the allegory that is Ezekiel's new temple) all 3 are still very much observed by Christ in Heaven.
It makes no sense to me that one would understand that the Jewish New Moons and festivals are no longer to be kept ceremonially, but only that their spiritual meaning be acknowledged (which would be correct, in my opinion) and yet while somehow believing that we still have to substitute one ceremonial observance for another (somewhat less burdensome) ceremonial observance. Why substitute one type/shadow for another shadow? At any rate, I believe we have no direct command from the Apostles regarding this matter.

There has never been a time when there was no Torah. The question always goes to when and to what measure. Since man was Created on the 6th day, and YHUH set-apart the Sabbath on the 7th day, common sense tells us it was shared in the garden since He made that day FOR mankind. “And Elohim CREATED THE MAN in His image” Gen 1:27. “The Sabbath was MADE FOR MAN” Mar 2:27.
Seems kinda silly making Sabbath for mankind, tells us all to “remember” it, then forgets to tell His first Created humans. Only makes sense the patriarchs certainly had Sabbath as well, they too being mankind. So, what else did they have before Sinai? How do we understand this? Here we have a “to do well”, or “not do well” standard of some sort that applied - “If you do well, shall you not be accepted? And if you do not well, SIN lies at the door” Gen 4:7.
SIN? So, they had something that defined sin. How did they know what sin was? Cain murdered Abel (Gen 4:8). Pretty obvious sin, right? “where there is no Torah there is no transgression” Rom 4:15.
Noah walked with YHUH. How was Noah declared righteous? By what measure? “Noach was a righteous man and perfect in his generations, and Noach walked with Elohiym” Gen 6:9. “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amo 3:3.
How did Noah know clean from unclean? When did he get that knowledge? One thing certain, he didn’t have to wait until Sinai to find out. “Of every clean beast you shall take to you by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female” Gen 7:2.
What was Noah preaching? Repentance? From what? Some type of undefined sin? How did he know righteousness? “Noach the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness” 2Pe 2:5. He was righteous, and he preached righteousness. He KNEW righteousness. How so? “Hearken unto me, YOU THAT KNOW RIGHTEOUSNESS, the people IN WHOSE HEART IS MY TORAH” Isa 51:7.
How did Abraham get all of this information so long before Sinai? “Avraham obeyed my voice, and did guard my watch, my commandments, my statutes, and my Torah” Gen 26:5. That sounds like a full package to me, Sabbath included. Seems to be a matter of the heart.
If there were no Torah before Sinai, this seems an odd thing to ask Moses, since they hadn’t even arrived yet - “Then said Yahuah unto Mosheh, Behold, I will rain bread from the heavens for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may PROVE THEM, WHETHER they will walk in MY TORAH, or not” Exo 16:4. Then the question became “And Yahuah said unto Mosheh, HOW LONG refuse ye to guard my commandments AND MY TORAH? Exo 16:28. How long?
Indeed. HOW LONG beforehand did they have Torah? How long had they been off track since “Yoceph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation” Exo 1:6? At any rate, YHUH took the belligerent mixed multitude to Sinai where His Words would be inscribed on stones, RATHER than the heart - where they should be. I don’t believe that was what YHUH ever wanted. I believe Him writing them on stone was a sign of severity, a sign of dealing with unyielding, obstinate hearts. This is what He wants, a people who delight in doing His will -
“I delight to do your will, O Elohai: yea, your Torah is within my heart” Psa 40:8
And this is what He hates - “Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear (shama) the Torah, and the words which Yahuah Tseva’oth has sent in his Ruach by the former prophets” Zec 7:12
Over and over and over He has expressed His desire for us to yield our hearts to Him, then we can cheerfully do what He expects from us. Christianity claims this covenant, but flatly rejects the terms - “But this shall be the covenant that I will cut with the house of Yashar’el; After those days, says Yahuah, I will put MY TORAH in their inward parts, and write it IN THEIR HEARTS; and will be their Elohiym, and they shall be my people” Jer 31:33.
Again - “And I shall give you a NEW HEART and put a NEW SPIRIT within you. And I shall take the heart of stone out of your flesh, and I shall give you a heart of flesh, and put MY SPIRIT within you. And I SHALL CAUSE you to walk in My laws and guard My right-rulings and shall do them” Eze 36:26-27. And again - Eze 11:19-21.
Whatever the extent was before, this is where we are right now - “Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the Torah: for SIN IS the transgression of the Torah” 1Jn 3:4. And that being said, His truth does not change based on personal emotions or false denominational doctrines, these are HIS words -
“He that turns away his ear from hearing the Torah, even his prayer shall be abomination” Pro 28:9. “Now we know that Elohiym hears not sinners” Joh 9:31.
Adamant stone, or a willing, yielded heart where Torah can be written? It’s one or the other. “written not with ink but BY THE SPIRIT of the living Elohim, not on tablets of stone but on fleshly tablets of the heart” 2Co 3:3.
What’s the Spirit doing in you? There is, after all, “the Spirit of the TRUTH and the spirit of the DELUSION” 1Jn 4:6. Scripturally, there is NO getting them confused. His Spirit will be writing Torah.
Hodu l’YHUH! Have a great Sabbath day!

The Sabbath, in the Bible, is primarily a day of rest and spiritual reflection rather than a day of active worship. It's a time for ceasing regular work and focusing on one's relationship with the God.
The Bible doesn't specifically command going to church on the Sabbath. The concept of attending a formal church service on the Sabbath is more rooted in religious practices and traditions that developed over time. The Sabbath's emphasis is primarily on rest, reflection, and honoring God, rather than a specific requirement to attend a place of worship.

@@wserthmar8908 no it is not a mistranslation. I quoted from the new king James version of the Bible.
First, the Greek phrase τῇ μιᾷ τῶν σαββάτων literally means “the one of the Sabbaths” or “the first of the Sabbaths”. This phrase is used eight times in the New Testament, and in every case it refers to the first day of the week, which is Sunday. For example, in Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:2, Luke 24:1, and John 20:1, this phrase is used to describe the day when Jesus rose from the dead, which was clearly on a Sunday, according to all four Gospels. In 1 Corinthians 16:2, this phrase is used to instruct the Corinthians to set aside a contribution for the saints on every first day of the week. In Revelation 1:10, this phrase is used to describe the day when John received his vision of the Lord, which he calls “the Lord’s Day”. Therefore, based on these examples, we can conclude that this phrase was a common way of referring to Sunday among the early Christians.
Second, the Greek word σάββατον can mean either “Sabbath” or “week”, depending on the context. However, when it is used in the plural form, as it is here, σάββατα or σαββάτων, it usually means “weeks” or “a period of seven days”. For example, in Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:1-2, and Luke 24:1, the phrase μετὰ τὰ σάββατα or διαγενομένου τοῦ σαββάτου means “after the Sabbath(s)” or “when the Sabbath was over”, and it refers to the time between Saturday evening and Sunday evmorning. In Luke 18:12, the phrase δίς τοῦ σαββάτου means “twice a week”, and it refers to how often a Pharisee fasted. In Acts 17:2 and 18:4, the phrase κατὰ πᾶν σάββατον means “every Sabbath”, and it refers to how often Paul reasoned with the Jews in their synagogues. Therefore, based on these examples, we can conclude that when σάββατον is used in the plural form, it does not necessarily mean “Sabbath”, but it can also mean “week” or “a period of seven days”.
Third, the Greek word ἡ μέρα, which means “day”, is not explicitly mentioned in Acts 20:7, but it is implied by the context and by the use of the definite article τῇ with the cardinal number μιᾷ. This is a common way of expressing ordinal numbers in Greek, such as “the first”, “the second”, “the third”, etc. For example, in Matthew 26:17 and Mark 14:12, the phrase ἡ πρώτη τῶν ἀζύμων means “the first (day) of Unleavened Bread”. In Luke 23:54 and John 19:31, the phrase ἡ παρασκευὴ τοῦ πάσχα means “the preparation (day) of Passover”. In John 20:19 and Acts 20:7, the phrase ἡ μία τῶν σαββάτων means “the first (day) of (the) weeks”. Therefore, based on these examples, we can conclude that when a cardinal number is preceded by a definite article and followed by a noun in the genitive case, it implies a day within that noun.

God created the 7th day and created only one thing on that day--the Sabbath. He made only one day holy--the 7th day--not the first. He said He is Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8, Mark 2:28, and Luke 6:5). There is nothing that tells us that "the Lord's day" referred to in Revelation is the 1st day of the week. There is nothing in scripture that advocates the observance of Sunday, and unsanctified day, as the Sabbath. And, yes, it is true that people have been worshipping on Sunday, possibly even before the flood. But who were they worshipping? Why do you think the 1st day of the week is called SUNday? They were worshipping the sun god. There is so much more to this topic . . .
