      I agree. I get around 114 from Brisbane to Caloundra return. Highland is an extremely efficient platform. 👌🏼

    Awesome series and stats. Thanks for putting it altogether and sharing. You did well going Horsham to Shepparton - I chickened out on my last trip and stopped at Bendigo, the roads are much better along there too.
    Good point about having breaks too. Look forward to your next video!

    Fantastic videos; I watched all three parts. This reminded me of my time renting both a Tesla M3 and MY in Canberra last year although I definitely did not do such a long road trip. Interesting rural roads and Aussie wildlife!! Perhaps a chart or figures posted in your wrap up would help? Look forward to more videos.

      Thanks also for your suggestions, I'll see what I can do for the CBR-BNE trip.

    a $2000 car can do that in 11 hours flat. I did that. Tesla is not a good car I reckon you should swap it out for a Mustang, but that's just me an Aussie petrol head. I guess at least you got autopilot & a big entertainment system to keep you busy.
    Your videography is good

      lol, as you would have seen I spent less time waiting for charging than I would have spent holding a hose at a smelly gas station.
      Doesn't matter if its a 20k car or a 200k car, once you've done a decent road trip in a good EV there's no going back to an inferior ICE vehicle. The enjoyment, comfort and safety are miles ahead and you are not having to waste all that money making some consortium in the Middle East rich.

    Great series. Just a question. I have a current generation X5 and looking to buy a M3P to supplement my city travel. It costs me on average $170 to fill the X5. You mentioned 2 fill ups. What car were you comparing?
    For my circumstance, fuel costs isn’t the deciding factor but wanted to understand what car you were comparing against.
    Great video again mate

      Hey James, thanks for watching and for the message. Our road trips previously were in a Toyota Camry, so my average price/efficiency is calculated off that and the average fuel price. I keep a spreadsheet so that I track all of the fuel savings I'm making, around $800 so far since February.

      @@Tesla-Red ok this makes sense. I’m going to keep the X5 as I own it outright and for that once a decade need to move a fridge but buy the M3P for all my short trips around Sydney where it makes no sense to drive a twin turbo diesel six to drive 4kms.
      Please keep up the content!

    Can you go through any accessories you took with you for the trip like charging cables, tyre repair kit etc. Also purchased the M3 a week ago and wanting to do a southern road trip here in WA to Margaret river region ( bottles of wine trip too) 😂

    • @Tesla-Red
      @Tesla-Red  5 месяцев назад +2

      Hey, very few. I took a basic tire plug kit and compressor which I got from Amazon, that's pretty much it. Didn't get a Type 2 charging cable, I could have made use of it once, but it was no extra to go to the supercharger nearby and charge while I had breakfast, so didn't miss it. WA may be different though, worth checking on plugshare what is available.
      I did have my plug in 240v charger, but never used it. Enjoy your trip mate, will be keen to hear how it goes! Have never been to Margaret River, but heard good things!

    Thanks for sharing. How was the standard audio?

    • @Tesla-Red
      @Tesla-Red  5 месяцев назад +4

      Audio systems in all the Tesla models are fantastic. LR has the extra speakers and sub woofers so that's a bonus too. But most reviewers rave about Tesla audio so you can't really go wrong even with the RWD

  • @andyg3752
    @andyg3752 5 месяцев назад +2

    Did you go the longer way due to more chargers on that route compared to the quicker route along Murrumbidgee river? I don’t think there is any superchargers on the quicker route.

    • @Tesla-Red
      @Tesla-Red  5 месяцев назад +2

      Based on recommendations of better roads.
      As I mentioned in the video, a bunch of superchargers opened up on the northern route just after I'd booked everything (and based on the roads to Shepparton I don't think they could have been worse) so if I did it again I'd definitely go the more direct route. I also knew Shepparton which is why I chose that as the overnight stop - just had never driven there from that direction.
      There are EVIE chargers all along that route also, but with the new superchargers opening up it definitely makes it a better choice (assuming the roads are ok)

    great video! Quick question - does the software allow you to set your own preferred buffer for arrival SoC? For example, when youre charging at Albury it says you'll arrive with 13% but it also says you still have a few mins to remaining to continue trip? Just wondering how that works. Cheers

    • @Tesla-Red
      @Tesla-Red  5 месяцев назад +1

      You can just leave it plugged in for a bit longer, or you can do what I did in Part 2 and leave a bit early. The estimated arrival % will keep updating as it goes so you can choose to leave wherever you are comforatable.
      Generally the Tesla % is very conservative at least on the major routes which is why I was a little over confident in the remote VIC area and would have been really cutting it to the wire as a result. Generally for CBR to BNE I'm more than happy to cut it as fine as 5-10%.
