@jillrice2577 I read that book in high school and again about a year after I became a dad. When I was in high school the idea of a whole town dying off was the scary part for me. However, now that whole side story with the baby and his family hits way harder for me, especially since when I read it I was still at that stage where I was tripping on SIDS and would stay up just watching him sleep rather than sleep myself.

@@DavenDebQuay The Rob Lowe version wasn't bad it just wasn't great either. What I didn't like about it was that it was set in 2004 with Larry Crockett talking on his cell phone and Ben and Susan discussing the Gulf War. Salem's Lot should be kept in the 70s with the oil crisis and The Brady Bunch. It just has that vibe. So glad that this new one is keeping it that way. One thing about the Rob Lowe version that I appreciated though was that it followed the novel a little more closely than the '79 version.

I realized just now that Danny Glick will be portrayed by Homelander's son's twin brother 😂😂😂. Also, they could have found a more attractive actress to portray Susan imo. Sure, she is not a knockout in the books, not pretty enough to have been portrayed by gorgeous Bonnie Bedelia back in the 1970s, but to be portrayed by Makenzie Leigh is just not right either; novel Susan is prettier than Ms. Leigh. They also turned blonde-haired white-skinned good ol' boy Jimmy Cody into a black woman, which doesn't please me, BUT this black woman is none than amazing (and gorgeous) Alfre Woodard, so I'm in for it! Aaaaand it seems the Susan Norton-Floyd Tibbits subplot will not be happening since apparently Floyd and Myke Ryerson were turned into one sole character. Something tells me that other interesting subplots, such as Dud Rogers and Ruthie Crockett, Eva Miller and Craig Weasal, Bonnie Sawyer and Corey Bryant (man, I wanted to see him coming back to get her!), and Sandy and her baby won't be happening after all.

This is one of those new trailers that gives you the feeling of excitement, but also dread. I love, love, love the first one, but the trailer for it did the same thing to me. I hope they do justice to the book! But if they do, well, that gives me even more dread. In other words, I have mixed emotions, but I will definitely watch!

The trailer looks really good. I especially like that they left the setting of the story in the 1970s. Why Warner would not release the film theatrically is beyond me. As I am not from the US and don't support streaming I most likely will not be able to see it for a long long time. :-(
