I agree. But it adds nothing to the original except better FX. So yes, every ten years a remake is necessary... "I am the AI Count Drrrraculaaaaa!" I've been waiting centuries for Nosferatu v.s. Batman, which seems inevitable. (Nosferatu vs the Monster of Frankenstein already exists). I dislike it that classic stories are remade indefinitely. Not because they are the greatest stories in history-- just to showcase a new generation of movie actors who fit a new beauty norm. My all-time favorite is still Polanski's "Pardon Me But Your Teeth Are In My Neck", that movie offered a reasonably fresh perspective on bloodsucking freaks. But very few went to see it-- not taking vampyres SERIOUS is almost a profanity!
I'm pretty sure the vast rocky landscape with a scary castle in the background and the large snowy village were done with CGI, lol. CGI is not bad, Hollywood just needs to fairly compensate their artists and give them proper time to work.
Wrong. Hollywood is overfunded vs indie cinema or European films for example. CGI in Hollywood is done to cater the expectations of the average american. If there are no flashy explosions, monster attacks, and people screaming their lungs out, the average american either falls asleep, insults the director mid-screening, or both. This is why Hollywood will always be Hollywood, they’re exclusively after the money, they don’t care about aesthetic values whatsoever. Watch some European cinema for a while and you’ll instantly notice the change. It’s also why the US adds more sugar to their soft drinks, makes meals jumbo sized, gives drugs away as if they were candy, etc etc. All part of the same rotten culture of consumerism.
@@Joris-KarlHuysmans CGI is used to make impossible visuals possible. Just like how old movies used paintings as fake backgrounds to show vast landscapes. Small-scale films with a grounded feel can coexist with grander, more fantastical stories.

The original Nosferatu was a remake of Dracula except without calling it that. FW Murnau couldn't get the rights to make Stoker's "Dracula" into a movie, so he kept the plot, changed some names, and bam, "NOSFERATU."
I actually think this is a remake of Werner Herzog's Nosferatu. The lead actress looks like Isabelle Adjani in that film, and it looks like they retained the idea of Dracula bringing rats and pestilence with him.
Despite being a silent black and white German movie from the early 20th Century the original Nosferatu was the creepiest of all vampires I have ever seen in movies and the creepiest vampire movie I have seen to this day.

The combination of old-school style and new visual techniques to help enhance that style and make it more believable, rather than detract from it, is truly impressive.
the original is a horror classic, the Herzog 1979 remake is not as terrifying but it is very moody and unsettling and quite a work of art. This one looks like it will pump up the scare factor. i'm looking forward to it.
"She is a slut of the night; Nosferatu", "I have travelled endless oceans of time to meet you", "Wings, Wings".... This better be good, Oldman and Hopkins tops it to date!
I will NOT put this movie in front of F.W. Murnau's "Nosferatu" from 1922. But I really have to say, I am fascinated... It has so much potential. Subtle elements of horror, a need for gore (which the original lacked due to it's time), a lot of atmosphere from the victorean era. All combined with the possibilities of actuall movie-technique and socyities boundaries.... I long for a really good "remake", "re-imagening", "re-interpretation" of Nosferatu. "Dracula Untold" was a nice, modern movie, nevertheless the critique. For me it was popcorn-cinema, leading into the right direction.
I think Nosferatu was a success during the beginning of the century , today when being exposed to so many movies no matter the effects if the story telling is bad the movie will suck.... That is why Coppolas adaptation to Bram Stroker's Dracula have aged so well and it is still regarded as a good movie despite all its "effects" being bad for today's technology; because you have good acting, good story telling and well done movie...

I'm starting not to like horror movies as much as i used to. They don't feel the same anymore. At first they filled a void, but now that void is filled with faith. I guess im changing. Stumbled on this trailer.
OOOOOOOOOOOO, paying homage to FW Murnau's Faust @ 2:03. Mad respect.
Its a nice touch that they got Max Schreck to play a character in a movie about himself 😄
Willem Dafoe would have been EPIC as the vampire in black and white.
Egger’s films have distinctive moments that scarred me for life… this one I’m dreading to see … in a good way 😅❤

I've waited 105 years for this.
Looks pretty good actually. Like a cross between the OG Nosferatu and Bram Stokers Dracula.
"She is a slut of the night; Nosferatu", "I have travelled endless oceans of time to meet you", "Wings, Wings".... This better be good, Oldman and Hopkins tops it to date!
I remember the Klaus kinski version it had a very dark vibe to it
I will NOT put this movie in front of F.W.

I've crossed OCEANS OF TIME for this...
As long as The Count doesn't only appear in the last 40 mins of a 2 hour movie, then it's all good.
Looks amazing, and I love they're doing an old hollywood special effects take, like Coppola's Dracula, best movie ever
