We got an email from a viewer with regards to launch control in the xDrive30i. It should have launch control, but no manner of combinations that we tried got it to work. A review we have lobbing soon on the xDrive30d didn't have that issue - launch control worked fine.

I had a 2021 Xdrive30i that was supposed to have LC but I could never find it qnd so I dont think Aus delivered models had it activated, some OS models seem to have it. Interestingly, models with the M Sport Differential have it which makes sense for the Xdrive30i not to have it, what would LC on a 30i actually do?
I have a 2021 non-M sport 30i in the US. It has LC (shifter has to be in S mode (not D or M)). Rest of the procedure is the same as they did in the video. But it still will only rev to just under 3k rpms so it won't affect the times at all in any way. I've tried both brake boosting and using LC and in my BMW cars, brake boosting works better than LC.
If you don’t want to use the most expensive models, how about the more affordable Macan S and BMW X3 M40i. But compare using your usual more comprehensive tests - that would be great!

Intresting video from your usual car reviews. I watched the review on the Porsche and i was very impressed with the review. I had to go check out the price on one. The exhaust sounds meaty as for a 4 banger. Got that AMG bark while shifting gears. Plus the transmission is lightening fast at the gear changes. Keep it up i will be watching more of these if you bring them out.
I have the late 2020 x3 xDrive30i, the last model before the facelift. Great car, Im not a luxury brand fan, the wife is, so our first new family car, cost an arm and a leg, but I think we deserve to be spoilt from time to time. Then the wife spoil herself with a 2022 Jimny for her daily.
Would love to see you do one of these with the Tesla Model Y RWD vs Performance so those of us like you, who switched or are thinking of switching trim levels, can get an idea of the exact differences for the difference in money.
Please can you do the 80-120 test in realistic conditions ie from cruising at 80. While accelerating through 80 floored is not realistic as it’s supposed to represent a passing manoeuvre.

Great job on this. I prefer the GR86 more oversteer nature over the BRZ, but the pice difference is large enough that I would go BRZ and try to tune in some more oversteer
Hey Paul this is great, please do more. Would love to see some standard Mid size SUV's thrown in amongst the major sporty cars. This channel is fast becoming my favorite, reminiscent of carwow but the Aussie version 🙂
After watching a ridiculous amount of carwow drag races it seems you gotta pre-empt the "go" in the countdown but some fraction of a second to actually launch on time and not get "caught napping" as they call it, waiting for launch control foibles.
i was a bmw driver but porsche is a head of bmw in quality is . the baddest thing by bmw is when you lease a car(as a company) from the bmw bank and you want to "buy" the car after the leasing they dont use the residual value of the car. they say if you want the car u need to pay the "used car" price . that is just fraud. (like 15-20k diffrence) Many bmw drivers switch to Porsche because of this. I knew at least 4 with the same problem.

You are right. 440 hp (GTS) vs 473 hp (X3M) would be best combination.

As for braking, I’d venture to guess the front tire size and/or perhaps the compound made the difference.

The BMW: 6.3 is the official figure for 0-60 mph, the 0-100 kmh is 6.6 so it did just about right

My pre facelift x3 30i does have launch control, just need to put to S transmission as well.

A more apples to apples test would have been the 2022 Macan S vs the 2022 BMW X3 M40i.

We still use the VBox occasionally, but the Dragy is faster setup when jumping between cars and has no wires, so a bit easier when filming.

It does have Launch control, you just didnt have the gearbox in S mode.
