Thanks for letting us know about this focuser. I will certainly be putting in an order for one to use with the camera lens rig I am setting up. Great find!.
I'm really surprised that this contains the puny 28byj-48. I built a myFocuserPro2 clone for my rig and couldn't get this small motor to move the coarse focusing knob at 5V. It wouldn't do it even after converting it to bi-polar and running it at 12V. And I don't have a huge load, a 294, a manual 5x1.25" filter wheel and the field flattener. It doesn't want to move even if I keep it horizontal, let alone if it's tilted. I had to mount it on the fine adjustment shaft for it to work (sub-optimal, there's a tiny amount of slippage in the fine focusing system, but it only affects the "going home" function.. basically, it ends up 1-2mm short of the starting position.)
@@ciskje71 the motor has 64:1 reduction. 3840 steps/tev : 64 = 60 steps/rev @ the motor. If you use the motor with a driver in full step mode, you have 32steps/revolution @ the motor (no redcutction). Probably the use the motor drivers in 2x microsteps
I have 2 of these focusers and not had any issues with them. They have a nice beep when connecting to them and when they reach end of travel. Can't beat them for the price.
I'm a beginner and I am on the cheap side of astrophotography but use the focusers on both a SVBONY SV48P and SV503 102ED. I get decent results using inexpensive equipment enough to enjoy the hobby on a budget.
I have a question about this. I want to take pictures and also use it visually on my lens, I plan to install it on the left side of the dual focuser, so if I install it, can I use the right side of the focuser mechanically, I asked the seller and they said it will lock the mechanical movement, meaning only 1 of the 2 can be selected.
@@rickbattle5706 if you use NINA (for Windows) or Kstars (for linux), you will find that backlash is managed in the apps, not in the driver. Actually it is recommended not to use firmware backlash due to the fact that aquisitiont software can't take into account about it. NiNA has 2 types of backlash compensation methods : absolute and overshoot (the second one is the best) and it works perfectly with any electronic focuser regardless of the brand
Sorry for the late response! I would ask a question in Gemini Facebook group (link in the description to this video). I'm sure you'll find an answer there if you haven't already.
This just maybe a clone of the "Myfocuser 2 PRO" DIY EAF. The fact you should NOT use the TEMP Sensor and the REMOTE at the same time as it may damage the EAF?
I was also surprised to see this warning message on the box; however, I think it won't be actually damaged. The same question was asked on Facebook, and here is the reply from Gemini: "No, using it at the same time will not damage the eaf, and sometimes it may cause the temperature probe to not be recognized. If you have no problem connecting at the same time, that's OK. At the same time, the new circuit board is being tested, and the new circuit board will reduce this problem."
@@whatmattersmost6725 if I recall correctly, Ben from @TheNarrowbandChannel made one of his non-ZWO cameras working with ASI Air. I think he mentioned it in one of his videos. Overall, yes, only ZWO products can properly work with ASI Air.
The temperature sensor is particularly useful for deep-sky imaging, as it allows for automatic refocusing when the temperature changes throughout the night. Since temperature shifts can cause slight changes in the telescope's focus, using the sensor ensures sharper images over long sessions. However, I personally do not use the temperature sensor with my focuser.
I just thought I'd add another comment I got my Gemini focuser yesterday & I'd ordered mine with the temperature probe but mine arrived without sadly, also it had a dent on the side of the casing to so whether it was the shipping companies that did it or it came from the seller like it who knows. However I did connect it to my laptop to test it & the EAF worked fine so at least that's something. I have contacted the seller about the issues but if I don't hear anything back then I will contact Paypal. Not trying to put anyone off buying one but the one I have isn't as described & damaged.
Thank you for sharing your experience and sorry it happened to you! If you purchased it from “LittleLight Store” on AliExpress, you should not have any problems with the seller as it’s the original producer of these focusers.

I have this focuser and it's my first ever EAF. Its worked so well for me that I'd be hard pressed to buy anything more expensive in the future.
The software is replicated from Myfocuser2PRO - they've copied that firmware and modified the name. The motor is a cip 28byj-48 at 5V.
That's a really cheap crappy stepper motor if true. Lot of backlash.

3840 steps per revolution is unusual for 28BYJ-48 are you sure that it is?

I watched this video a number of times but did not see how the adjustment nob on the OTA was removed.

Glad to hear it! What telescopes do you use them with?

Need that focuser 😍
Any problems with customs or any extra VAT which needs to be paid?
I didn't have any issues with customs. There is no VAT in the U.S., so I didn't pay anything extra.
By the way my OTA is the SV550 122mm

Sorry for the late response! It is true. Once you install electronic focuser (any brand), you won't be able to use it manually.
Hi, FYI the link in the description does not work anymore.
I’ll check it out
Thanks!
Just checked. It leads to the focuser. The problem is that it sold out at the moment :)
How does it adjust for backlash? Nice video, thanks.
Thanks! I haven't precisely checked backlash on my copy, but there is the way to set backlash compensation if needed.

Yep, they sold out now.12 July 2024, on that link.
They added a few positions yesterday that were sold out again. I was told they’re planning to add more. Stay tuned if you’re interested!

@AstroCreation dont be sorry, have solved the problem by myself, I wasnt use the ascom driver correctly :p
Now he work fine and steady !
@Photonographe glad to hear it!

does it work with ASI Air ?
I am not sure if it works with ASI Air. I don't have one on hand to test out.
It will NOT be seen with ZWO ASIAir. Only ZWO products will work and be controlled with ZWO ASIAir. Due to ZWO breaking the agreement with Pi.

Very interesting, certainly for that money. But not available anymore so it seems
They will have more focusers available
Update: they got some positions added a few minutes ago
Open them up and show us what parts they use.
Will do👍

Considering buying this focusser. But Facebook? Realy? There are a milion better and more up to date forums or similar today..
Better to begin with something, I guess. On the other hand, I agree, they could spread the word and promote a little better.
just waiting on mine to turn up! thank you for this video, cant find any info on this thing
