Wow this is so helpful! Thanks for the raw data as well 😍
Do you really need the TEMP sensor?
The temperature sensor is particularly useful for deep-sky imaging, as it allows for automatic refocusing when the temperature changes throughout the night. Since temperature shifts can cause slight changes in the telescope's focus, using the sensor ensures sharper images over long sessions. However, I personally do not use the temperature sensor with my focuser.
@@AstroCreation I bought one today without a temp sensor. Can you buy it separately or should I try and cancel and reorder?
From AliExpress
@citylimitsphoto I personally wouldn’t worry about it.
Anyone know how the 305M Pro monochrome performs?
It should be a good camera for guiding!
Hi. When the panel is closed and light on, if I take a photo with the Frame and Focus module in SGPro, the pannel opens and the light switches OFF. Is that normal behaviour or not ? That does not appen when using the Auto flat module in SGPro nor if using Wanderer Empire when connecting the pannel only with Wanderer Empire and taking a photo with SGPro Frame and Focus module. Thank's for your answer and have a nice day. JM.
Hi there! Honestly, I’ve never used SGPro, so I’m not sure I can assist you with this software; however, this happens in NINA when it finishes sequence of taking flat frames. If you take a picture with flat panel on, the app might recognize it as “the end of taking flat frames sequence” and open the cover then
The first time I had the chance to take a photo under dark skies I was amazed. It took me about 5 hours exposure time to get a decent result of the Andromeda Galaxy under bortle 6, and under bortle 2/3 It was only a matter of minutes (20-30) to start getting amazing details. It is also a good oportunity to share with family and friends, so I highly recommend to go ahead and look for it.
Great video! Can you tell me what's the name of a song that plays from about 4:25?
Thanks! The song is called "In the Backseat" by Hampus Naeselius
But honestly, it isn't even 2 Megapixels, how usable are the images going to be except viewing on 6inch phone screens?
Using the “Drizzle” option can slightly increase image size, but this camera isn’t about resolution; it’s designed specifically for high-focal-length Ha solar imaging. Its larger pixels capture varying brightness without saturation and maintain a good FPS rate, which is essential for capturing sharp, dynamic solar details. Meanwhile, in some cases IMX174 sensor would be more suitable, and it has a bit higher resolution.
@AstroCreation I see. Thanks.
Does the camera have a built in UV/IR cut filter?
It doesn't. It's better to get one for planetary imaging
@ So you don’t need a uv/ir cut filter for deep sky?
@@earthling-fh2mg it depends. Generally, you still need a UV/IR cut filter for deep-sky imaging since this sensor is sensitive to infrared light, which can lead to bloated stars. UV/IR cut filter would make your stars looking nicer.
Hi brother can it performs good for deepskyobjects...
It might be a good camera for deep sky objects; however, there are more brands now that use the same sensor with a cooled camera that is much better for deep sky imaging.
@AstroCreation thanks 👍
How well does it preform compared to other boxes? With multiple power outlets being used, does it keep the voltage high enough across all for say example the stiff requirement a lot of mounts have?
I've only used Pegasus PowerBox v1 (installed on my second deep sky imaging rig) and Pegasus Mini (installed on 10" SCT that is on the background in the video). I think it's incorrect to compare them to Wanderer Pro V3 since the last one has many more features. I believe the closest competitor to Pro V3 would be Pegasus Ultimate V3, but I cannot tell which one is better since I haven't used Ultimate version. Talking about "keeping the voltage" for Pro V3, I haven't faced any issues with the power supply / distribution, and I do a lot of imaging considering the amount of clear nights I have. For example, I got a little over 120 hours of exposure time on different targets over October, and all the aspects of the box were running smoothly.
@@AstroCreation ok and the voltages? Did you check to see if it holds/maintains voltage required for example the zwo AM mounts which are finicky?
@@johnsmith-rd9rr I haven't tested it with AM mount since I don't have it, but I haven't experienced any issues with the voltages drops during the imaging session with my equipment.
That 5.5x2.1 to USB C that you're using to power your Mele mini PC, where did you get it from? The cables I'm finding on Amazon are saying that they only work in the opposite direction (USB power brick to 5.5x2.1 powered device). I'm lacking a few brain cells, so I'm not sure if those would work with the orientation that you're showing.
I got the cable on Amazon. Here is the link to the one I use: amzn.to/40CkgOb I also have an angled USB-C to USB-C adapter used here.
Im in the same boat. I think he's using the cables that came with the box. I custom made a couple cables for my mele's usb c power input. MOST usb cables include that power limiting feature which is why they cant be used in this scenario.
@@johnsmith-rd9rr I got the cable for mini PC on Amazon. The link to the one I have was posted above.
I've had the Wanderer Astro Powerbox Ultimate V2 for about 18 months now and its been absolutely rock solid.
Get this over the Pegasus Powerbox V3! I have that product, and have had lots of problems.
Hey there! Thank you for sharing! What kind of problems did you have with the box? I want to see if I can repeat what you experienced.
and which power box? they have 2, 3 versions.
@@johnsmith-rd9rr I mentioned V3 in my comment... :)
@@AstroCreation For my setup I had the powerbox connected to one USB port on the MiniPC, and the mount connected to the other USB port. I found the powerbox was causing the mount to regularly disconnect, and required it to be re-connected. This meant that guiding stopped working. I also found that sometimes the Pegasus Unity software didnt recognize it, and needed some time to 'find it'. Things seemed to work better when the mount was connected to the powerbox, but that doesnt really work for my setup as I have the PC mounted to the pier, and I dont want to have a USB cord coming from the Powerbox mounted on the telescope back down and causing potential cable snags.
@@Fat-totoro-cat thank you for mentioning that you mentioned it
Nice review. Regards.

Sorry for the late response! I would ask a question in Gemini Facebook group (link in the description to this video). I'm sure you'll find an answer there if you haven't already.
@AstroCreation dont be sorry, have solved the problem by myself, I wasnt use the ascom driver correctly :p Now he work fine and steady !
@Photonographe glad to hear it!
I am imaging M 31 and find the telescope loses tracking at 60 secs. I had to reduce the time to 30-45 secs. I am using a aJuwei17 strain wave mount. Do you have any suggestions.
Do you use guiding?
Yes your instruction on installing the EAF is accurate and exceptional!
Great images!
Great job on the Lower's.😅
Sorry for bothering you. After a thorough review of your videos, I discovered the locking screw under the first and was able to remove the OTA nob and complete the Gemini EAF installation. Your videos are so helpful and I enjoy watching your cable management system. Keep up the good work.😂
By the way my OTA is the SV550 122mm
I watched this video a number of times but did not see how the adjustment nob on the OTA was removed.
Chek out this video: ruclips.net/video/f5z2Eg1HZt8/видео.html At 2:30 I cover this topic
Did you try it with the SVBONY SV209 Focal 0.8x reducer that is being used on the bigger brother? The 503 reducer is for achromatic scopes but the sv209 could work.
I’ve tried, and it didn’t work well. I couldn’t achieve a proper back focus with it
Does anyone know if the banding problem is solved?
There is no banding on my latest images with this camera. I’m currently in a middle with a deep sky project and SV605MC. Frames look good with no banding
@@AstroCreation Thank you so much for your confirmation. I'm buying it. :D
Backlash on this Gemini focuser is not an issue at all. The ZWO EAF has backlash, the scope itself will have some backlash, and yes the Gemini Focuser has backlash. As you showed, it is a very simple matter to dial in backlash compensation. I had to go through the same process with my ZWO EAF and I'm sure every other focuser will be identical, just varying degrees of compensation required.
Thanks! Brilliant kit and explanation. It probably took less than 30 minutes from unboxing to running some test flats. I took your advice and got one version larger than I strictly needed and it was definitely a good choice. I just wish there was an advanced sequencer item to turn anti-dew heater off/on. I don't think it is good to run all night.
Thank you for the comment! As of now, it is possible to control dew heater in NINA! I shared your comment with Wanderer Astro, and they responded that it is possible now. You can check out the manual with details. Basically you need to install a plug in in NINA that will be used to send commands to the flat panel. It can be setted up in advanced sequencer!
@@AstroCreation Oh wow, that's wild! Thanks for checking. I'll give it a try this weekend. I'm embarrassed to say I skipped over the latter half of the manual after setting up the open/close positions :(
Thank you for this informative video. The title says ‘be careful’, but after watching the video it is not clear to me what to be careful about?
Thanks! The idea is to be careful with solar astrophotography in general.
Ah, I see
I have a question about this. I want to take pictures and also use it visually on my lens, I plan to install it on the left side of the dual focuser, so if I install it, can I use the right side of the focuser mechanically, I asked the seller and they said it will lock the mechanical movement, meaning only 1 of the 2 can be selected.
Sorry for the late response! It is true. Once you install electronic focuser (any brand), you won't be able to use it manually.
Спасибо.

very interesting, is this the official svbony channel?
Thanks! It is not :)
A detail description of all pieces to the setup and configuration would be appreciated。
Check out the description
George, in your video "A Detailed Look at 80mm SV550 APO Refractor Telescope" you mentioned a metal plate but did not much detail. If you could tell me the exact dimensions and retailer I would appreciate it.
If I'm correct, it is this one: Simpson Strong-Tie 7-in 20-Gauge Galvanized Steel Tie Plate. I just quickly googled it
Interesting camera, I like the silver color too. Please if you could consider making a video about the solar mod you did to your svbony 122, that would be great! Did you attached a presure tuned etalon at the rear end of the scope or was it a tilt tuned one? Is there an energy rejection filter inside the scope? Thanks, clear skies!
YES PLEASE!!!
Thanks! I attached a pressure tuned one. I use UV/IR cut filter in front of the etalon as an ERF. I'll possibly make a video about this solar mod since a couple more people reached out about it too
Great video ! IMX 174 would be much more suitable with your particular setup ( for critical sampling ) I would personally ditch ADC and use 3x barlow for closeups instead ( just tilting camera slightly ) There are only two cameras which can be compared directly with this one - ZWO ASI 432M and Player one Apollo M Max ( there is also third new camera from Player one based on imx 428 coming next month, but it is much more expensive ) other cameras are TEC cooled so different category and price bracket . Cheap Amazon TEC mobile phone cooler does much better job ( only £15/$20 ) then this fitted SVbony cooler - mine for example keeps my Apollo M mini 12 degrees below ambient regardless of the load...
Hello, Bart! Thank you for your comment! I actually started with 3X Barlow Lens (SvBony SC213) once I finished my mod (you can see it it in some clips). 2x + ADC is a part of experiments and learning more about solar astrophotography. I might end up with an achromat telescope for that since I want to go back to deep sky imaging with 122mm APO Thanks for the advice about a cooler from Amazon. I'll check it out!
Nice presentation. Do you know if Gemini has a bracket for C8 Edge?
As I am aware - no; however, you can get a bracket from a different brand
Thank you. One question, what software did you use with this camera for imaging? I have sv305c, which gives ungodly horizontal stripes acriss the screen in NINA. Ordered sv705 after watching your video :) Cheers!
I would mostly use FireCapture, but SharpCap recenly started working better than it had been.
@@AstroCreation my 705c arrived and saw the first light yesterday. Works much better than 305c. The problem is that achieving a good focus with sct 6se is a bit of a challenge, and as my other rig is asiair-centered, I need to build a decent software suite to serve my Celestron. Challenges are everywhere :) Cheers!
Do you know if its compatible with Asiair plus?
I cannot tell if it works with ASIAIR or not... My guess that it shouldn't.
I am impressed with your cabling!
If other stupid planets are supposedly constantly orbiting the Sun, How tha fük are they magically sitting still in the sky long enough for you glerfs to make them out to be in fact planets & not just Stars? 🤣🤣🤣 Do they just magically all of sudden decide to sit still for photo & video ops? 😂😂

@@sebastianfischer2082 How tha fuk is Saturn magically sitting still in the sky long enough for you to make it out to be a planet & not just a Star if it's supposedly constantly orbiting the Sun? 🤣🤣🤣
@@tonyflatearther dude just look up at and it'll make a little more sense, they do move but we do not percieve them as zipping around the sun from our distance to them as it does take 30 years for saturn to make its way around the sun. If you look up at it you'll notice that an hour later it has moved but it's more than easy to get a good view with a lense, to take photos like this depending on how long they take photos for the telescope will track along with the movement.
Conformal coat everything first
I have set up and have been running the flat panel for a few days BUT major issue when using advance sequencer in NINA. The flat panel isn’t closing at the end of my sequence. For days now it hasn’t closed. Have you experienced this?
Hello, Andy! I haven't tried it in the advanced sequencer yet primarily because I hadn't switched to it yet. I'll try it myself and see if it works or not.
Okay let me know. I’ve gone a week with it and it has not closed at the end of my sequence.
Update: I have resolved the issue. The “Close flat panel” instruction in NINA cannot run in parallel with other instructions. It needs to be a standalone global instruction. I have tested a few times and everything now works as it should.
Thanks for this video! I have some questions: is it possible to mount the flat panel on the bottom side of the telescopes dew cap instead on the top? Isn't it possible in NINA to automatically control the brightness of the panel in the flat wizard? I think I remember that the Lacerta Flatbox Controller works in this mode: NINA flat wizard automatically controls the brightness and the imaging time of the flats to get good flats. Is there an INDI driver available fo the Wanderer Astro Flat Panel? Is it possible to manually open, close, switch on/off, dimm the flat panel e.g. via buttons, if you don't use a computer?
Hey Paul! Thank you for the comment! === I have some questions: is it possible to mount the flat panel on the bottom side of the telescopes dew cap instead on the top? === - Yes, it is possible; however, I would pay attention to bigger size panels. My guess is that the flat panel might not fully cover the lens due to the different weight distribution if it makes sense. === Isn't it possible in NINA to automatically control the brightness of the panel in the flat wizard? === - Yes, you can choose "dynamic brightness" mode in NINA and basically set desired exposure time you want to use for your flats. NINA will determine the required brightness then. === Is there an INDI driver available fo the Wanderer Astro Flat Panel? === - As I am aware, there is no INDI driver for this panel. === Is it possible to manually open, close, switch on/off, dimm the flat panel e.g. via buttons, if you don't use a computer? === - The flat panel doesn't have a hand controller to do so.
I wish you've shown how it actually rotates, otherwise nice video
Thanks! I should've done that, indeed!
Do you think the Eq6r pro can handle the 12 inch version of this?
It might be an option for visual and your balancing has to be much better than perfect. I'm currently experimenting with my 10" SCT and EQ6-R Pro. I've even tried some deep sky astrophotography with it.
Why does it have to rotate, to even out shadows and uneven distribution of the light on the panel?
Sorry for the late response! What rotation are you talking about?
