This is what I've been waiting for! Been putting off cataract surgery, bc of the halo thing. So glad these options have come on the market. Hope to see you this Spring for a consult and operation. Thank you so much for making this video, I have hope once again. The struggle has been real.
I'm a 65 yo male patient of Dr Wong. He implanted the Clearview 3 in both my eyes 2-3 weeks ago. Dr Wong is GREAT! My vision was 20/150 and moderate cataracts. 3 mm pupil, low astigmatism. I was using 3.75 diopter readers all the time, everywhere I went. I could not believe the difference afterward. 20/20 near/far/intermediate vision. Night vision excellent and bright with only a little bright-light flaring ("angel wings"), no halos. Looking at stars and the Moon is awesome as well as I love Astronomy! The two issues I have now are (as stated in the video) I have a secondary "ghost" image on text especially with white text on black, which can make it a little distracting when reading; and I have many dark and translucent floaters which do get in the way of reading also. I am hoping to see Dr Wong's office or the Floater Doctor in Dallas/Ft Worth area about YAG laser treatment (Vitriolysis) for this issue.
thanks for sharing. i'm seriously considering this lens, but how "bad" are the "angel wings"? i mean, are they close around the light source, or do they extend across half your field of vision, or they block out other object at night, etc? this is my biggest concern, as I have terrible glare and halos around lights (day or night, but nighttime driving is really awful) with some relatively advanced cataracts. thanks again for sharing!
@@johndoe-ep7qk They aren't bad. Just a little flare on each side kinda like a faint pair of wings. It doesn't obstruct anything and not distracting. And it's only on really bright points of light. And not everyone complains of them, like the Dr said. Not everyone notices the ghosting around text like I do either. Still WAAAAY better than the alternative, let me tell you. I love seeing like I did when I was in my 30's!!! Wooohoo!
I had ClearView 3 lenses surgery 8 days ago and I too had ghosting up until a few days ago. I assume the brain figures it out. Night vision is almost exactly the way it was before the surgery. Which is very good, no halos. I had a follow-up with the doctor today. 20/20 in one eye and between 20/20 and 20/25 in the other. Reading was J1 in both eyes, which is 20/25 on the chart. Nevertheless, I can read quite easily. But, 1.25 readers make it very easy to use my iPad or computer without any strain. The doctor says that the lenses will continue to settle over several more weeks and should show even better eyesight than now. I find it personally interesting, (frustrating) that we must be our own advocate, as I find that the doctors I have seen so far seem very focused on what they now know and disinterested in anything different. I had to travel to get my ClearView 3 lenses, because no one around here had even heard of these lenses that have been used for the last 12 years and only approved in the US for the last 2 years. I am sure that most people would be happy with results from the ClearView 3, J&J Odyssey or the PanOptix lenses. Do your own homework and you will make a better choice. The left eye with panoptix was fine for the first 3 months until a yag was preformed, but then a month later after the second yag, my distance vision gotten blurry (worst than ever). The Clearview-3 looks like a great IOL. I have done research. What I struggle to understand is: This IOL was launched in 2012 in Europe. As per now, I only found one clinic in EU who offers it, and it is classified as a "special IOL" they don't even have it in their inventory. Must find out why Europe stopped using this, they prefer trifocals. I fear the reason may be something the US will find out later, bit I hope not! I have checked with more than 100 clinics in EU. Any ideas anyone?

I fear no :( The IOL is 12 years old.
Hello Doc, the ClearView 3 correct astigmatism too?
For patients with the Clearview 3, we correct astigmatism by performing astigmatic corneal surgery at the time of the cataract/lens replacement procedure.
Is the procedure to correct the astigmatism cover by Medicare?
@@jorgenj1 No. Medicare does not pay for astigmatism correction.

Hi from Turkey.
I am 29 years old. I have been using eyeglasses since my childhood due to high level of myopia -10.
I went through vitrectomy due to retinal detachment on my right eye 8 years ago. I realized something was wrong but it was too late. I can say that I lost my vision to some extent.
I have cataract on my right eye as well. And minimal cataract on my left eye. What would be the best lens or solution for me?
Regards
Is it OK to have a multifocal IOL in one eye and a monofocal in the other?
In most cases, yes.
Just a question out of medical curiosity "What was the main reason to leave implanting mainly diffractive multi focal IOL and switch to the clearview-3 on such a scale? "
The Clearview 3 seems to deliver overall more consistent clear vision with less night time artifacts than the diffractive multifocal lenses.
@@ShannonWongMD will the ClearView 3 if my eyesight is -8.25
@@ShannonWongMD Unfortunately are doctors that implant these these lenses very scarce in Europe/ The Netherlands. Would be a great lens for me as a private pilot (medical license). Thank you very much for your answer and enthusiasm in your posts !

I live in Europe as well and I was looking for a clinic that has the Clear View 3 and didn’t find one. I wonder why…
@@cotescunicoleta1052sbl-3 is the same. Rebranded to clearview -3 before US launch. Ocp in Prague the only one I found
its called Lenstec SBL 3 over there?
@@jamesq3210 yes!
I understand what you mean by premium lenses, but i dont know what you mean by premium surgery.
