Thanks for posting this video. I replaced the boot on our LG washer yesterday and it was a breeze with this video. It only took roughly 1.5 hours from start to finish with me taking my time and reviewing your video during the repair. No telling how much money this saved me. The boot seal was $57 and the spring expansion tool was $11 on Amazon.
Despite what other comments say, this video is top notch and I like LG. The springs are by far the most difficult part and I highly recommend a suitable plier/tool. I absolutely love my machine after I did about 1 month of research on washing machines. The LG WM325 is the best machine they made. It's washed EVERYTHING in my house and the workshop (laundry that is) including heavy blankets, oil and grease stained work clothes and so much more. Have it for 10 years now and never had issues. It is time for a thorough clean though and it can only be done disassembled. Looks like the frame/body is pretty much the same as their new ones. I figure if you take care of your equipment, it will take care of you.
Thank you for this video! My washer is an LG WM8100HVA and, although not exactly this same washer, we were able to follow along. Took my husband and I 1.5 hours to do. Thanks for saving us a bunch of money!! Good thorough video 👍

I have worked on about 5 or these over the years, and every time i try using the "spring expansion tool", to re-install the inner clamp wire, and every time i give up and use either a couple of cords or a couple of dulled flat blade screw drivers. The issue is the tool is poorly made / a bit too small in its expansion range, and/or the spring is missing a second loop for the tool or cord to get out of the way of the far end of the wire loop. Notice how far open the tool is in the video, as it is about to slip off the ends. It needs another inch of expansion with shallower arms. The tool seems to work fine at removal, but that part is easy.
Exactly, very good point!! But you never hear the "pros" tell you of any of these problems. It's like they go by the LG playbook and edit out those times when they use methods that don't toe that line, very frustrating. And it seems the only comments they respond to are those that are just simple praise of their work. Comments like yours or the one above this one get nothing, not even a thank you.
For anyone curious, the expansion tool worked just fine with one modification. For the plier end requiring the “slip off maneuver”, file a notch closer to the tip so there is more gap on the spring loop when you thread the hook into the loop.
Bendiciones 🇲🇽✌🏻
Tip for easy installation of springs. This tip makes putting the inner and outer spring on super easy. It is a two person operation and you will need four butter knives. Begin putting the spring on from the bottom. Both people work their way up on each side placing the spring in the groove. When it becomes difficult about half way up that is when you begin using the butter knives. Prop one knife under the spring holding it in place. with the other knife, move a little further up - only about an inch - and use the the other butter knife to pry the spring on. leave that knife in place to keep the spring locked in at that position. then proceed to remove the lower knife and use it to pry the spring on another inch up. The key is for each person to do this equally until your reach the top. Then it is a simple task to pry the final bit at the top. This worked on both springs and took very little effort.
The springs nearly destroyed my mentally well-being, but otherwise just patience and following the video to the detail did the job! Recommendation for anyone jumping into this task to watch the entire video, and then watch each section until the start of the new section as you work. No surprises that way. Thanks, you all!
Oh, and I used a couple of brake spring hook tools to catch the spring ends, with one wired up to the side of the washer. Still needed one other person to be an extra set of hands so that the gasket would slip off as I set the spring.

I’m no professional but I was able to do this job. It’s 100% because this video helped immensely. The spring was definitely the hardest part. I bought a version of the spring tool but it was too small and didn’t work. So I ended up muscling it with a pair of regular pliers and a pair of needle nose. Still very tough. The outer spring I just used my hands but that inner one sucked. I didn’t need to take off the weights either. Great video though. Thank you.

The very first hose he disconnects at the top middle, what is the name and purpose of it? I did this whole install and I’m wondering if water should be coming out of it? Because it’s not. Just the two side pumps. He just keeps causing it “hose” in the video.

I’m having trouble getting the outer spring on because the rubber boot(gasket) isn’t big enough to seat around the metal opening. Is there a trick to this or do I have the wrong part?
I followed the step by step guide and now the back of the drum is banging against the back of the washer and I don’t know what I did wrong when of the spin cycle…any pointers?

It makes no sense that these boot seals grow so much mold and are so hard to replace. I think a lot of people would happily replace this thing each year if it was fairly easy to do. “Washing” clothes in a mold trap is ridiculous. The companies are leaving a lot of money and illness on the table with this bad design. Thanks for this video.
Mold and mildew is around us all the time. They thrive in dark, damp environments. This is why it is very common to find mold and mildew in bathrooms when they do not have proper ventilation or are not regularly cleaned. Mold and mildew spread spores and when we wash our clothes in the washer we are removing the dirt, bacteria, viruses, and spores from our clothing, but it is getting trapped in the washing machine. Regular cleaning and certain practices can help combat mold and mildew buildup. We recommend the following to help reduce mold and mildew build up. Reminder: Washer door boot seals are porous and using harsh cleaning agents too frequently can damage the door boot seal. These items need to be porous so that the moisture can be released. First, make sure to wear cleaning gloves and a mask, you don't want to breath in any spores while cleaning. Once a month before running a self clean cycle, use affresh wipes or use vinegar and baking soda, to clean the door boot seal. Make sure to use non-abrasive brushes and washcloths when cleaning. If you notice a funky smell in your washer affresh or vinegar will kill that smell. After you are done cleaning the door boot seal, use affresh washer cleaner or vinegar or bleach and run a self-clean cycle. Once the self-clean cycle has ended, open the washer door, and take a dry, clean cloth to dry off the door boot seal and the glass. Anytime you are done with a load of laundry, you should leave the door open after you have removed the clothes and use a dry, clean cloth to dry off the door boot seal and door glass. This will help reduce the moisture being trapped and left behind. Do not leave damp clothes in the washer for long periods of time. If the location of the washer is very humid, you might want to consider getting a dehumidifier for that room. Hope that helps!

The best detailed instruction I seen this door boot or a pest I work on them daily sears do you have a video on how to remove a blower wheel from a dryer motor
Two days later and still not finished. Not the fault of the video, but I stupidly bought an "equivalent" gasket from e-bay, AppliancePartsFinder, that was anything but equivalent. The who thing was too small... not by much, but enough to make it a real pain to put into place. Update: My bad. Somehow the part number I found wasn't correct. Ordering the correct one and hopefully it will be as easy as this video shows! Final update: Much easier with the correct part. Still not quite as easy as the video implies, but it's now done and done right. One caution... the last segment of the video makes connecting the front of the gasket with the tub a matter of draping it over the rim. Not so. There's actually a small folded lip on the backside of the gasket the doesn't look it's separate from the gasket. You need to lift that open and put *that* over the steel rim. Otherwise, the whole gasket diameter appears to be too small. Lessons learned: Buy the genuine LG part (only $25 more than the "equivalent" part made in Turkey!). Be sure the model number fits your machine. Do get the spring stretching tool. Be prepare to learn lots!! Review the video often. Even with all my mistakes I saved several hundred $$.
Great video! But you should make sure to let ppl know to be really careful not to strip the screws for putting the weights back on. It's really easy to strip it out.

I recently replace the boot seal, inlet hose, and nozzle. My washer now has a loud squeak sound when at highest RPM during spin cycle, any suggestions?
Did you get this resolved? If not, I'm wondering if you got your weights on correctly. I know that, with mine, it would have been easy to not have them fully seated on their mounts; I used a rubber mallet to make sure mine were seated before I re-attached the screws.

The boot seal gets moldy all the time and they made it as hard as possible to change out. I have no idea how these things are designed but it seems like they didn’t put any thought into making this serviceable at all.
Great demonstration.. our washer has leaked on and off for so long. Some times it wont at all.. well, i pulled the outer tension ring of the seal today just to investigate as its been neglected long enough.. (lol) well.. im kind of upset. The way the little clamp is that holds on the drain hose had been rubbing on the seal since day one and eventually wore through it.. not too impressed by such a little overlooked assembly design. If it were 45 degrees in another direction it wouldn’t have been an issue..
My boot was dirty as opposed to damaged, so I cleaned it super well and put the old one back on. Getting that stupid gasket stretched out on the outside of the plastic lip was pure hell. Not about to pay to have someone else do it but I certainly swore a lot
Does anyone knows what cause the “wringer” that grey rubber part if I’m saying it right now to Al wrinkled up and out of place when I opened the washer after a small load.😳

Thanks for the tip. You can also find spring removal tools here: www.repairclinic.com/Shop-For-Parts?query=spring%20tool
Thank you. It wasn't my exact washer model but close enough for me to do it beginning to end with no mystery. Thank you , thank you !!!!

You guys rock. This video made it so easy. Don’t forget to run your washer through a cycle because of the dish soap used on the ring.
I wanted to make sure everything was good before putting clothes in it. A bunch of the dish soap got rinsed out.

Bought this washing machine for my mother years ago and cannot believe she/ I have to go through all of this to replace a gasket . I own an all in one in Japan and I never had to replace a gasket . Crappy design and the only fix is to not buy LG ever again .
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I have a slightly different model, but the steps are all super similar. Took about an hour, I had an extra set of hands and that was very helpful. Thanks!

What is the description of the 10mm socket ?

I’m in this exact situation. And got conflicting recommendations regarding the rusty old flange. Any risk of not replacing that one itself? I get everything you explained in this video; but they all leave the rusted piece untouched. Anything to be concerned about there?

I’m having trouble getting the outer spring on because the rubber boot(gasket) isn’t big enough to seat around the metal opening. Is there a trick to this or do I have the wrong part?
I followed the step by step guide and now the back of the drum is banging against the back of the washer and I don’t know what I did wrong when of the spin cycle…any pointers?

Great job, Thank you.
Is it possible to switch the door orientation on this modle
Hi! What can happen if I forgot to add the liquid dish soap to the rim of the boot.? Thank you in advance for your explanation!
It can be difficult to get the seal on, and you can potentially tear the rubber
I just never close the door when its not in use, just leave it slightly open and it will dry out and no mold will grow.
Excellent video! Got mine done today in about 2 hours, would have been even faster If I didn't have to cleanup the mess from the leak in the old one.

The best detailed instruction I seen this door boot or a pest I work on them daily sears do you have a video on how to remove a blower wheel from a dryer motor
Thanks for the Video. Just found out, that two screws, normaly fixing the concret, fell out
Two days later and still not finished.
What if there is a light attachment? How do I remove?
Great video! But you should make sure to let ppl know to be really careful not to strip the screws for putting the weights back on. It's really easy to strip it out.
Awesome video will follow more, will be ordering mine from Amazon

The fact that you have to go through all those BS just to change the stupid seal is a joke
Awesome mate thanks very much, saved alot of time and money have someone else repair it 👍

the professional doesn't want to do it either!
Yea, door boot seals can be tough to get on. Takes some patience and elbow grease.
Does anyone knows what cause the “wringer” that grey rubber part if I’m saying it right now to Al wrinkled up and out of place when I opened the washer after a small load.😳
what's the torque specks on the weight bolts?
Snug
I have the WKEX200HBA LG wash tower, could I follow these steps?
Wondering also....did it work?

Why does my rubber boot not sit flush with the plastic outer tub? It pulls off by about an inch
I have the same problem
I think I know why no matter how hard I tried, my units would always develop mold. There is always some water trapped in between the thick seal lol😅
We recommend keeping them open after each use so they dry. Also a good wipe down between uses and regular cleaning to prevent mold growth.
This video helped me choose not to buy one! Thanks!
I applied dish soap, worst piece of advice in my life, honestly take that part out, it only made it impossible
Lol got it out in about 10mins to clean it by not taking everything apart. and now want to know how to do the inner seal…
