Any kind of paper will do, even recycled junk mail or ads, pva glue or make your own mixture of a flour and water paste also works great and is very budget friendly!

Dude, you need a larger paint brush. Why are you using that super small brush? Try using one next time, and you will see the difference. Your paper will adhere better with less tearing.
