Thank you so much for this! It has made huge difference in trying to figure this thing out!! My struggle was not with my domestic machine but with trying to do the math.:) Thanks!
I just made my first harlequin pouch today. I added a slip pocket and wanted to do the card slots also. So glad I found your tutorial. An I ask what seam allowance did you use when sewing the panels together? Thank you
Thanks. I’m making Waterproof canvas slots in something else and hadn’t seen it done before. I have a different machine that also “eats” the tails if you don’t hold firmly. So glad it’s not just my brand.

I have not. It would be like any other zipper pocket. You would need to adjust the size based on the size of the pouch and remember that you are boxing the corners which will take up some of the bottom of the lining piece. Hope that makes sense.

Hi Sherry - Thank you so much for this video...! I suspect you have a 1541S...? I'm so interested in knowing where you got that attached guide for seam allowance...That will make life so much easier; better than using taped markings. Thanks
@@SherryCarrigan1 I've done this twice today and each time my card slot panel came out larger than my other panel, which I guess is okay, I can trim it down but I'm trying to figure out where I went wrong here. You use 3/8" seam allowance stitching the panel to the card panel right? And you cut 1 3/8" off the middle of the lining panel....I just can't see where I"m getting it wrong.
@@SewGurl58 Actually, I both the 1541 and the 1181. Call me crazy, but I had to see what all the hype was for the 1181. I've had the 1541 for 2 years, just got the 1181 a few weeks ago. Not crazy about it yet. Guess it needs to break in and wear on me.
If you are using water proof canvas for lining, it does not require interfacing. However, you still might want the fleece for the exterior. I personally use Decovil Light.
Nice! Always good to see someone adding-on to ideas. Very simple and effective way for adding card slots to the Harlequin Pouch.
That's really brilliant!!! Thanks so much for this video. Your method is easily adapted to other bags also. Genius!!!
Thank you so much sherry

Thanks a bunch!
Thank you, very informative! Have you done a video for adding a inside zipper pocket to the Harlequin Pouch?
I have not. It would be like any other zipper pocket. You would need to adjust the size based on the size of the pouch and remember that you are boxing the corners which will take up some of the bottom of the lining piece. Hope that makes sense.
@@SherryCarrigan1 Thank you. It does make sense. I have just never made one with a zipper.
Thank you.

Yes that is my 1541s. I got the seam guide attachment from Sunny Sewing Machines in Texas. They have an online store for accessories.
Where do you get your waterproof canvas? Thanks for this tutorial!
Fabric wholesale direct.
Thank you so much, love this. Can you tell me which model Juki that is?
1541s

@@irenezewski You are correct, those are the measurements I use. I'm so sorry you are having issues.
Thank you for the card slot add on. Could I ask which size pattern you was using for this. There is the regular size, crossbody, XLarge.
Hi Sue, it was the regular size.
do you have a link to this free pattern because all i found was one made by maia good from Leanne fb
Love it, go Sherry xxx
Thank you for the tutorial. Does one have to use waterproof canvas?
No ma'am.
Awesome little tutorial! Question, what is this magical guide you flip down for your seam allowance?
That is a guide made for my industrial. I got it from Sunny Sewing Machines. I think it is machine specific but not sure. Sorry
@@SherryCarrigan1 looks like you have either a 1541 or an du1181n, which is what I have. I’ll check out their website.

What size needle do you need for waterproof canvas!
I have used 16 and 18. This one was done with the 18
What size thread did you use?
I use Tex70 bonded nylon in my Juki.
