I am glad you got to this one Tre . This is Mach III Deep Purple with two Vocalists . Everybody though Lord and Blackmore crazy with this move but it worked out beautifully. This beautiful song really showcases the Vocalists David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes’ talent . Coverdale’ bluesy Lyric Baritone grit and Hughes’ high pitched Tenor
Strong track from a great album. It really demonstrates the relationship between Glenn Hughes's bass and Ian Paice's drums. It sounds a lot like it could be a Rainbow song, written for Ronnie James Dio. It shows the direction Ritchie Blackmore was moving towards.
I was around 12 years old when hearing this from older friend's collection. Pretty much caught me at that time. Melodic but has power and and great feel in it. Bit of a forgotten gem. This also shows different side of David Coverdale's ability to write lyrics in other style than what he has done in Whitesnake. The shared lead vocal parts between Coverdale who starts, and bassist / singer Glenn Hughes work well on this track. "Soldier Of Fortune" would be another great track.
This is the song that made me start singing and playing guitar.. Played one night in the car while cruising through country with my dad, and I looked and him and said...What's this? Now i'm finishing up my debut album, which i've been working on for 2 years, with songs that I started writing 6 years ago..
Very cool story, I like that. Congratulations on finishing up your first album! That’s something I’ve never done. Will it be available on RUclips? I’d love to hear it and I bet other people here would also.
@@fishoutofwaterseries1424 Thanks for the support guys. I will definitely send it to you when it's ready, Tre. I expect it will be in 2-4 months time, hopefully sooner than later. And yes, Michael, I will upload it to RUclips as well. Will return to this comment section when the time comes. Until then, take care fellas.
Great song. If you listen closely you can tell the difference between Coverdales and Glenn Hughes voice taking turns on each verse. They are so good a lot of people think it's one singer but Hughes voice is a bit higher! Plus the fact Hughes place the bass on this as well just shows what a great musician he is!
Hey Tre, I wanted to make sure the following concert was on your radar-----7/28/73 - Allman Brothers w/ Grateful Dead and members of The Band, at the legendary Watkins Glen concert in Upstate New York. I checked its easy to find on RUclips.
Forgot how good this was and still is. DC exceptional and total opposite to IGs high pitch. A complete change in sound, but equal to anything MK2 put out in my opinion.
There are dozens of D.P songs much better than this. I listen , almost only D.P for 35 years and I suggest ''Fools'' from Fireball L.P. Burn , Speed king, Hard loving man , Wring that kneck(from bilzen jazz festival) , Spanish archer Black night ,Anya ...etc,etc,etc
Big DP fan here also. Nice to meet you. The only thing I would change from your post is substituting “songs that I like more“ for “songs much better than this“ because after all taste is personal. Songs don’t have absolute qualitative values, as I’m sure you know. I don’t mean to be a pain in the ass but I just thought I should point that out. In other words, there’s no guarantee that everyone will agree with your opinions. No right and wrong, just what appeals to someone. I know all the songs you listed and I like this song better than a lot of the ones you listed, for example. That said, it would be good to hear reactions to the ones you listed also.

one of my fav DP songs, can listen to it over and over...

Gawd, this song is so hot!! I love Deep Purple so much! 🥰💜
Dude, I love that you showed the back of the album. And, of course played this tune. Yeah. Peace
Ian Paice the drummer is the only Member to appear on all 20 Deep Purple Albums
Plus Ian is a Master Rock Drummer, and a solid bangin' rock in the rhythm section. No other drummer sounds quite like his tasty fills and beats.

@@amer5955 Thanks AMER. Enjoy. All the best to you as well.
Duet vocals: David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes
I love mark III period of DP too. Such a groovy and funky time it was. Nice reaction.
The b-side "Coronarias Redig" recorded at the same time has a similar funky vibe.

Любимая вещь идеал хард рока
They were the shit back in the day..
I love Mk III Deep Purple.
Nice...very nice.

David Coverdale sounds like Chris Cornell in this one
Damn I never realized that till now!
Pick any track from the 'Burn' album, you can't go wrong, however i would suggest 'Mistreated'.
Check out burn from this same album.
Says something about what a great album Burn is when this is perceived as one of the lesser tracks
Tell me that doesn’t sound like Audioslave
