The mid to late 90s was such an awesome time to be a Wrestling fan. The Monday night Wars will never be bettered. Buff was great in WCW, looked amazing, great name, gimmick, a decent worker with a good finisher. It's a damn shame he broke his neck, took away all his momentum. Vince totally messed up The Invasion angle, it could have been the greatest angle of all time, Damn shame!

Great Interview, I’ve always been indifferent to Buff as a person but always thought he had great ring skills but after this interview I definitely respect him more as a person. Some of his choices (like em or not) make a lot of sense now and honestly no one can judge how someone makes a living as long as they aren’t hurting anyone. In my humble opinion he sounds truthful in most of what he’s saying.

For Me Mike Awesome was Awesome LOL I really liked his 1st run in WCW The Career Killer. I hated when he became the 70's guys that gimmick was ok but it should have been for someone else not him then when he joined Team Canada I thought ok now their doing something right with him but WWE got WCW then it went down hill for him after that.

I met Sabu/Rhino/Tommy Dreamer/Axel/Balls/Steve Corino/Tazz this was like if I remember right a month or 2 after he made his Debut in WWE he did an autograph signing I still have the picture of meeting him I got a signed picture plus he signed his WWE shirt at the time I did sell the shirt and picture years later tho LOL but at least I still have the picture of me and Tazz I should post it on Facebook one day.I will also never forget the last time Nitro was at the Nassau Coliseum as me and my friend wear walking in the hall way to go to are seats right in front of us was Midajah and Mike Awesome each talking to an Agent I remember screaming Mike he looked and waved plus I got to touch Midajah which for me at the Time was like Heaven because I was in love with her I also met Sandman/Raven and a few others.

I remember when i heard Buff got canned from WWE. My first thought was that he wouldn't have any trouble finding work as a wrestler elsewhere- but he did. As far as Jim Ross goes, there was something really disturbing about him. When doing commentary on Dr. Death Steve Williams, his commentary, was boardering on manlove. Years later, JRs commentary on Stone Cold Steve Austin was boarderlining on the same kind of manlove. What makes this disturbing is that Austins real name is Steve Williams. Makes you wonder about JR

He always struggled to win and often lost much like his tag team partner Scotty Riggs, the Armstrong tag team, Alex Wright, Hardwork Bobby Walker, the Public Enemy tag team, Johnny B. Badd, and Hacksaw Jim Duggan? They were always incapacitated by a "face pull" sort of move where they eyes seem to be temporarily damaged, every time they did an elbow/collar tie up in the middle of the match against the heel, where the heel would then work them over.

Booker and DDP did the same thing except they took early buyouts from Turner to free themselves to sign with WWE as they both still had a lot of time left on their Turner deals. According to Sting there was another reason for him not signing with WWE. I remember seeing an interview with Sting where he said he watched the episode when the invasion angle first kicked off. Wrestlers from WCW and WWE got in the ring and fought it out. Left in the ring at the end was just The Rock and Booker T. Sting said he could see The Rock say "Who are you?" to Booker T which Sting found incredibly disrespectful. Sting said The Rock legitimately had no idea who an icon like Booker T was. That was something that bothered Sting and made him want nothing to do with the WWE. Like you wrote, he knew Vince was going to bone all the WCW guys which he promptly did.

Why didn't TNA ever sign Buff Bagwell? He was over with the fans in WCW, had great mic skills, could wrestle and looked great. And when WWE fired him he was still pretty young probably not even 30 yet. The demise of Buff Bagwells pro wrestling career is one of the most puzzling I've ever seen. It's so sad. And it's sad to see him still so bitter especially at good ole JR. But I can't blame him. WWE royally screwed up on not making this guy a star and their company making only a quarter million dollars a year down from the three-quarters of a million dollars a year he was making in WCW. His time with Scott Steiner, both as partners and rivals, resulted in some of the best and most memorable moments of WCW's history, and if WWE had not spent the past 19 years burying WCW these segments would have been just as iconic as DX's antics today. It seems the only facet of WCW that WWE has not tried to bury is the NWO, but only because that was simply too big to bury, so Vince decided to try and profit from it, and revive it several times.

The Time Warner/aol executives where the real Disaster for WCW... they aren't everyday, level headed, blue collar people. They despise the culture of wrestling and all the fans that are part of it and think its a national disgrace, fit only for the low class and the ignorant. The only reason they sold WCW only to Vince was with the condition that the company was to be totally liquidized, which Vince had NO problem doing. There was even a falling out with Shane over this because he thought he was going to be given the permission to run it and thought WCW being out of the picture was going to be bad overall for WWE...which he was right....

Shane is a genius and more down to than any wealthy person I've seen.

The real issue was he was on drugs and besides it wasn’t a master plan they have every right to terminate your contract at anytime that’s the harsh truth there are plenty of guys who never even got the opportunity to go they didn’t ruin your career by not allowing you to be in a company that obviously soured on you they don’t have to keep u and it’s not a right to be there it’s harsh but it’s the honest truth

I saw that Legends round table that he’s talking about and he’s right JR did buried him, they all did to basically anyone who didn’t kiss Vince’s ass and wasn’t their creation

Buff is the Stuff, only one match with em and it was a damn shame. Disco doesn't feel he was ready for the WWE going on an earlier interview.

He was a bit unlucky; the roster was jam packed so the WWE didn’t need him and he didn’t really have anywhere else to go.
The timing of the wcw buyout didn’t work out for him either
