Just picked this one up coming from a 34" and this 38" is in another league. It's actually insanely bright, super good color accuracy, variable refresh rate AND it's renewed on Amazon for less than 800 right now
The 38" LG panel in this is superb. In fact, this LG series of monitors with that 3840x1600 resolution is just the sweetspot in terms of widescreens. I have the 38GL950 (pretty much the same as the monitor in the review) and 38WN95C (similar thing but with more office options such as USB-C / Thunderbolt 3, PBP etc)
Just came across some of your content and wanted to let you know that I think its awesome. Your video and editing style is very professional and I hope to see your channel grow more. Keep up the awesome work!
I bought this monitor Renewed on Amazon last month for $750 and it's been great. It was nearly new with only 130 hours of use and the plastic wrap still on the sides of the display. This monitor is the best gaming/productivity monitor there is. Also, ultrawide.
I'm going to upgrade my 26 inch monitor, and Ive been torn between going for a 32" 4K or a 34" ultrawide. As someone needing to balance both productivity and gaming, as well as having enough screen space without being overwhelmed, I found your case for the 38" option really compelling. Perhaps this is the best compromise after all! Also, ultrawide. 🙂
I’m glad you found this video helpful! This monitor is definitely a solid choice for what you want to do. Personally, I find 38” to be the sweet spot for ultrawide monitors. Cheers and thanks for watching 🙌
I absolutely adore ultrawide monitors. I think they are the perfect balance for work and play. However, at 38-inches, I'm concerned that the pixel density starts to suffer so it's not as sharp. Still, i loved this review. Well done.
Thank you very much! The pixel density is quite decent on this monitor, at least to me at 111 PPI. It’s nothing to write home about, but for me it has been good 🙂 thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers 🍻
Late to the party, but: 38" is 3840x1600, so same ppi as 34" 3440x1440, which is like a wider 27" 1440p. So it's just bigger in size, same image quality
A wide productivity AND gaming monitor is also what I'm looking for. I have a 6 year old curved 34" LG ultrawide, and it's pretty good but it's only 1440p and I'm looking for more real estate (it's also only 60Hz refresh I believe). There are really very few options out there if you want: 1. More than 1440p 2. Ultrawide curved 3. More than 120 Hz refresh rate There are two LGs and a Dell/Alienware...and I think that's basically it.

Thanks for the kind words Olivier. There are a ton of options out there, but I think if you aren’t going to play video games at all, this and the Alienware would be overkill. I like LG panels and you can get a 34 inch model with an IPS display for 500-800 dollars or so. All the extras like Adaptive Sync, fast response times and high refresh rates are useless for non gaming intentions IMO. It ultimately comes down to what you’re willing to spend and the type of work you do, but a 34 inch IPS display is where I’d start.
@@TwoByteThomas thank you for your reply and your patience. Do you have some 34" IPS to rexommand me? I want an amazing one as I am changing my screen after 6 years
Hey ! What would be the minimum graphic card you should get to have a good experience with this monitor? Is the 38' a big difference compare to the 34' version? Thanks for your answer, great video!
Hey there, I'd honestly say at minimum you'd want something like a 3060 / 6700XT type at minimum to really enjoy this one. And yes, if given the choice I'd definitely go with the 38" over the 34" all day long - this is coming from someone who also used the 34GN850-B - the size difference, especially given the extra vertical space is at least to me, very noticeable. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Hey Diego, the pixel density here is still good, but going to a 32” 4K panel you will notice the difference (~138ppi). Honestly as long as you’re not doing pixel intensive tasks like photo editing etc. the 38” is usually a good bet as most people I find value real estate over pixel density. Thanks for watching!

It is 24:10, which is much closer to 21:9 than 21:10 By my calculations it is slightly more square than a standard 21:9 ultra wide, not wider as mentioned in the comment above (although it is obviously physically wider than a 34” 21:9 ultrawide due to the larger screen size)

Can't go wrong with an OLED! That new monitor looks really good, I've always admired their Neo series too. Looks like it'll be a great one - it even comes with that gaming hub where you can access all the cloud gaming services too. Let me know how you like it, and yes more content on that to come. Not sure if it will necessarily be an upgrade, I'm thinking of it more as a change, but I'll let everyone else decide 😂 Cheers, thanks for watching!
Blacks are decent. It’s a nano IPS so it still wouldn’t be as good as OLED or even VA for that matter. It’s not bad at all though, just depends what you’re going to use it for.
Thomas thank you, for this thoughtful and insightful video. Personally I am looking to upgrade my current LG Ultra 32 inch monitor. I would truly value your opinion on the LG 75QNED85 Mini-LED TV as a PC monitor for both gaming and prductivity. For reference I am providing this video link for your consideration ruclips.net/video/5G5cWHyiOHg/видео.html. I of course would consider a 55 inch version of this product. For now I am currently running a Intel i9 13900K on Asus ProArt Z790 Motherboard with 128GB of DDR5 4800 Crucial Ram and AMD 16GB 6950XT which I am considering upgradng to a AMD 7900XTX with 24 GB of video memory I am currently running Davinch Resolve for film edting and AutoCAD. Thanks again for this informative video. Continued success to you and your channel.
Hey there! That product seems awesome, but personally for me 75” is way too big for a monitor, even if all I cared about was screen real estate and multitasking. Since it’s 4K you’re losing a lot of pixel density vs much smaller 4K monitors. Mini LED certainly is good and makes for some great contrast ratios, though if that’s what you’re going for, I’d just suggest an OLED display, but it depends on your situation. It also looks like it’s 120Hz refresh rate, which is ok, but you can save money buying a smaller monitor with a higher refresh rate. Your PC is certainly powerful and should be able to handle 4K gaming with ease. But if it’s me, I’d go with a much smaller display for a computer monitor. For a TV though, that seems like a good choice! Cheers, thanks for watching! 🍻
It's an old monitor and just too expensive for what it offers, LG needs to update this with 5k2k resolution but with high refresh, minimum 120Hz, KVM, and USBC/Thunderbolt. Basically the LG40WP95C but with KVM and high refresh.

I'll be very curious to see where you land with your soon-to-be upgrade!

The new G8 has a tone of problems. Wait till they firmware it.
How about blacks?
Blacks are decent. It’s a nano IPS so it still wouldn’t be as good as OLED or even VA for that matter. It’s not bad at all though, just depends what you’re going to use it for.
40” is better coming from 32”
Thomas thank you, for this thoughtful and insightful video.
I definitely wish this monitor had a built in KVM.
Ultrawide 😁
