FULL synced / side by side IFT5 vs IFT4, enjoy 😉
9:04 I’d like to add how precise they were with Ship’s trajectory…they’re both going the EXACT SAME SPEED at the EXACT SAME ALTITUDE
After re entry, they were a bit apart. Might have been wind or the fact that flight five had better aerodynamics.
@@djw7141 They were on a different trajectory. At some points they're synced, but they are different at many points
That was very fun to watch. Let's hope the next test is soon.
Wonder why flight 5 stood on the pad for longer than flight 4 after ignition. And yet at the same time frames flight 5 was going faster and higher than flight 4. I know 4 had an engine out but I wouldn't have thought it would make that much difference
They were prob stress testing deluge again like ift2 to see if it still works when they catched it and also it because the vehicle in ift 5 were in a steeper ascent profile like falcon 9 for booster return
The footage is delayed
Pay attention to the telemetry, both flights ignited and lifted off at the same time
Of course even 1 engine matters, they don't put those on for decoration. You can't just throttle up the other engines to 110%, they all work with maximum thrust don't they?
@@tomiprofistarship is designed with engine redundancy, so it can still reach target orbit with maybe 3 or 4 out, but the burn will be longer, and, depending on which engines fail, landing could be scrapped and super heavy suicided into the ocean.
@@tomiprofi super heavy has 3 engine out capability so no, 1 single engine should slow it down that much. Also I don't think they're running the engines at 100%. Maybe 90%
Audio: This absolutely CLOBBERED the commentary (my interpretation of what I heard)
After booster catch & change focus to Ship, it sounds like there's a compressor/limiter that engaged with 1) a hair trigger (low threshold), 2) a reasonably fast attack (amt. of time to clamp the volume),
3) VERY high compression ratio (highest ratio I've ever heard), and a
4) VERY long release time.
Commentary was decimated
I had to stop watching this *here* because the audio was silenced WAY more than not.
