Very interesting to see Marcus Johansson's playing style. I have never seen anything like this -- I was always told to bend my knees but apparently Marcus Johansson doesn't need to :-)

Great player Johansson...he deserves more credit than a lot of people on this forum give him I think. Can play really akward balls with antirubber and has a smoothless fh spin to score many points with despite his somewhat rightup posture

Credit to Marcus, unorthadox with the anti spin ...but he played very well. Funny i saw chatting to a friend who is a looping king but only plays in division 4 our hometown of Leicester in the UK...he was bemoaning the top players with almost perfect records in the division were both using these anti-spin rubbers.🤣

When you are playing against someone who doesn't move and doesn't have a backhand, and generally has an awkward playing style, but the moment you lose attention he suddenly strikes with a forehand that goes right through you.
If only at the time of the toss we could also choose to exchange our equipment with that of the opponent, that would shut the beak of many grumpy people who think that the racket is magic and that no one is holding it!

Johansson must have anti-spin or long pimple on the backhand because when he receives serve on the forehand side he will intentionally use his backhand to return the ball , making me think he needs a special rubber to return heavy spin serves otherwise he is in trouble , he has a decent forehand attack though .
you will note if someone uses pimples or antispin because of how the ball is translated. after a backspin ball, he pushes it and creates no spin or a little topspin, pushing a backspin ball with that angle with inverted rubber will make you get the bal in the net. Plus you can see after truls makes a topspin or a drive (ball comes with a little of topspin) he wil make a little chopblock motion effortless, with a inverter rubber, the ball will go up to the skies. Finally, i don't know if what anti spín he uses but it is definitely anti spin
No just no lol. Read some about anti, short and long pimple. You do not go to these limited rubbers if your a beginner or almost League player. You become limited and need a good controlled shot first as everything will be technical

Marcus Johansson ' playing style is very curious ! It is not modern. It is outdated in high level professional competition. But it maybe the absolute champion playing style for players with much ages and for semi professional amateur players, because it require less physical streng and less athletic skill.
It is interesting to watch how Marcus Johansson exploits an outdated playing style to create enough troubles and challenges to Moregardh at professional competition level.
I think that once Marcus Johansson chooses this outdated playing style, he must become more actively find chances to switch to forehand strokes in any opportunities. If he can not attack from his backhand strokes, and he does not succeed to switch to forehand stroke for attack , then he should not hungry make backhand strokes when the ball is high, but he must wait for the balls to fall to low altitude (not higher than net) to make his backhand strokes to avoid create high balls again. Because when he can not attact by his backhand from high balls, then the more quickly he touches balls at high altitude with his backhand, the more he will send higher balls to his opponents : it is bad.
So, if decide attack from high balls, then should try to hit the balls at high altitude. But once if decide not to attack from high balls, then should wait for the balls to fall to low altitude (not higher than the net) to hit the balls.

”Magoo” spelar med antispin, och det behärskar han ringt bra. Möregård behöver några set för att komma underfund. Sedan märks skillnaden i 20 år mellan spelarna. Magoo är orörligare. Men han spelade riktigt bra!

Marcus remarkably plays Superglanti, and this is not the first time he makes it hard for a top player.
the placements were great, Truls was always one step behind the table, prepared for a long ball, but it rarely came and was forced into mistakes.
Truls likes to have fun when playing players he feels no pressure against and instead of playing very strict tactics, he was playing more loose, getting some feeling etc. He can win this easily if he wants to

Surprising that he didnt know how to play an Anti-Top. Again and again he expected a reverse spin.
The guy that truls was playing against looks like a rookie. Doesn’t bend, doesn’t move effectively, doesn’t even twiddle the bat to have normal rubbers on both wings with the Anti or pimps as a effective surprise twiddle. This guy won’t go far with that technique. You need to have great movement and have great backhand and forehand for starters then rely on Anti or pimps as a surprise factor. He’s playing that style wrong.
He is 42 already so I guess the legs are close to gone, and in no way a rookie can get 2 sets out of Truls. His style is just unorthodox.

He’s back and knees could be shot which makes sense to why he can’t move effectively. Prob the reason why he went to anti in the first place to slow the game down due to he’s injuries.

This guy has already beaten guys like Par Gerell or Satoshi Aida. Yes he won't be a top 50 ranked worldwide player but he has enough level to play in Swedish first division (actually he has a great record in swedish first division)

What is happening? How can Truls play an unbelievable match against Fan Zhendong and then barely winning against a random swede who no one knows?
He is not that random. He has beaten Satoshi Aida and Pär Gerell. He uses frictionless anti on BH. And Truls has faced him many times before, he has respect for Marcus.
He had no chance of winning against Fan. He also had problem with the spin that came at him which was different from normal. Looks like you have not played against players with different equipment or different style.

Прекрасная игра, филигранные топсы слева движением подрезки, а какое чувство мяча - таким рубящим махом взять и оставить мяч коротко на столе! На самом деле, парень неплохо атакует справа, создает себе антями мячи для атаки и реализует их. Жаль, не прихлопнул понтореза, тот явно не наигран по стеклу, две партии одуплялся, как по этому играть.

Imagine, in football, a clearly stronger team scores a few own goals on purpose... I think everyone deserves to be taken seriously as an opponent. That game is close to "making fun of someone", sorry. Nobody wants gifts like these. Do not get me wrong. It's ok to a certain extent and nobody expects 100% effort, but losing two sets is ridiculous.

I dont think that is the case. You gotta play a quite different game against anti-spin.
The reason for this apparently surprisingly equal match between one of the best players in the world and an unknown swedish opponent, is that the opponent uses pimples on the one side. This makes the return balls very unpredictable (see explanation). Thats the reason he stands so much in the left side. He can only attack and make spin with the "normal" side. The other side is so to speak more or less "dead", but has the advantage, that he doesn't have to pay so much attention to Moregårds spinny balls (as the pimples very much neutralises the spin for him). Depending on if the opponent plays with short or long pimps, he can either make some strange flying returns with not much speed (which are hard to predict and attack on), or (with long pimles) they simply turn the spin around compared to normal rubber. Another huge advantage that makes it possible for such a relatively weak player to challenge one several levels above him is, that he plays with this bat every match, whereas his opponents maybe plays against a "pimpel-player" a few times a year. Unsportsmanlike and unfair in my opinion, to give yourself such an advantage just because of the choice of unothodox materials. (PIMPLES:With the short pimples out you get less spin but more control. With the long pimples out you can get different effects and reverse the spin on the ball).

First, if you can't tell the difference between long pimples and anti says something about your table tennis skills. Secondly, Marcus is very well known in Sweden. Place 71 among Sweden's all registered (around 7,000 registered) players. 2,800 points.
He is respected as a player. Anyone who cannot play against all kinds of playing styles and different materials is not a complete player. Everyone who practices and plays table tennis knows that. Those who criticize different materials are usually those who are unable to learn the technique against these players. If you start to discuss and even try to ban certain rubbers, then the next step is, for example, to think that left-handed players are also a minority and very difficult to face precisely because they are different, then you can continue with those that are too long, like has a longer reach and the list can be made endless.
So the moral is to train hard and learn to face all kinds of playing styles and materials. period.
He’s not unknown to Truls. Excellent coach in his club. Even coached Truls at very early stage.

@@patoivan6222 In the national series he played with a banned anti-rubber, and he knew it wasn't allowed, so he cut away the part with text&number which says what rubber it is... and replaced it with a part with text&number he cut from another rubber (not banned...). And then he got caught doing it...!!!

@@kmartin73 at a professional level, anti spin is actually hard to keep up with inverted. If anything, inverted has more well rounded qualities than anti. If anti spin was so easy to use and trick everyone then many more players would be using it, but after the balls became plastic anti spin does not have as great of an effect on the ball that it used to. Many people blame anti or long pips for just being so different, when really it is their own game they need to improve. The rubber isn’t magic, so whoever is using that anti spin or long pips had to take the time to train with it and get good at using it the same as inverted rubbers.

Anti spin rubber and anti spin players are a cancer in table tennis. Those rubbers should be forbidden. Unfair and unsportman. Not any sport ! Those clown players should have allowed to play only against each other in their own competitions. I think there would be not anybody interested to watch those clown-table tennis-competitions.
Obviously, some anti spin player rammed you in the match, so you have cancer wound from those players :D
If you can't beat a clown, that already says a lot about your level of play. Dedicate yourself to holding your breath.
