The best part of this is that the Immortals actually existed, although they obviously weren't those half-demon ninjas from the movie, but they really were the elite of the elite of the Persian Empire.
No more no less than 10,000 elite persian infantry. The most insane fighting force in Asia at the time. the Mongols wouldn't begin their march for another 700 years and Alexandre the great 100+ years prior had just died. Imagine if the Greeks didn't win

They wore thin iron armor. The normal infantry wore thin wicker armor. The Greek bronze spears went right through it. The Persians were very good at conquering large open terrain. But in Greece with cliffs and mountains, against an enemy in the Greeks who knew how to utilize the mountainous terrain, forget it. If they Greek coalition at wasn't flanked, they could've held out much longer than three days.

The reason the movie depicted the immortals as half demon ninjas is because this all revolves around a campfire story, so everything will be exxgaerated
The Immortals also never roared before battle and were silent. They also wore black masks to hide their faces to intimidate the enemy. If one should fall in battle or become wounded, they would be quickly replaced. They were called Immortals because their never seemed to die. They were the most elite fighters in Persia.

They were called "Immortals " because whenever a member of this Regiment was killed or incapacitated, they were immediately replaced. The Regiment was, therefore, "immortal ".
I'm pretty sure the reason everything about the Persians being fantasized and overexaggerated is because it's supposed to represent a story being told by Dilios. He paints them and monstrous and supernatural to put the Spartans in an even better light.

I had this clip in my Nokia 6600. It was in 3GP format. I always used to show it to my friends. I was in 8th standard back then. Those were the times when we didn't have access to Hollywood Movies. We didn't even know that this clip is from 300 Movie. But always felt proud for having it in my mobile. 😅😅

The real true outfits and kits these warriors, whom have all earned their titles well through both cowardice acts of evil and valiant deeds of good, were so much cooler and good looking then what they play dress-up with in so many movies.
Alexander is a great example of a movie that got the kits right, and that was a 2004 movie.

I really hope people around the world doesn't consider those Netflix movies or any series or video games as accurate representation of persians. like if you consider Rohan or Troy army as representation of persians, then it would be more accurate than making them wearing a fucking turban or portrays them as desert riders or monsters or anything
They were monsters in egypt and did unimaginable there. The persians burned down Memphis, pillaged the temples, killed holy animals, destroyed tombs and religious places. One reason why Alexander had it so easy in Egypt was, because the persians were absolute hated there

One falsehood is the Persian rulers never considered themselves as divine/gods. Unlike so many other rulers such as Pharaohs or even Alexander.

The Spartans....most of what you have heard about them that's unbelievable is most likely true. As they existed in a time before history was written and their stories were told and all good stories have some exaggeration to them. The events of the Hot Gates and the 300 Spartans at the base level is still a feat of Military daring and shows how well trained troops acting in a disciplined manner can cause a numerically superior enemy a really bad day. Go tell the Spartans passer by
