NCAA Football was an American football video game series developed by EA Sports in which players control and compete against current Division I FBS college teams. The series is a younger brother to the Madden NFL series.
In July 2013, the NCAA announced that it would not renew its licensing contract with Electronic Arts because of an ongoing legal dispute regarding the use of player likenesses in the games. However, this contract only covers the use of the NCAA name and related logos, not those of individual schools and conferences, which are negotiated individually or through the Collegiate Licensing Company. The CLC concurrently announced that it would extend its existing licensing deal with EA through 2017, ensuring that EA Sports could continue the series without the NCAA branding. However, the series was placed on hiatus in September 2013, following three major conferences pulling their trademark licenses from EA, and uncertainties surrounding the results of lawsuits involving the use of player likenesses in-game. However, EA Sports is still making an attempt to get the series back going.
Players' real names and exact likenesses are not used in the game. While the Madden NFL series uses real player names and likenesses, those players are compensated for the use of their image. Due to NCAA restrictions on the amateur status of athletes, names are not allowed. Additionally, current college players cannot be used as cover athletes. Instead, each cover features a player whose college eligibility ended the season before the game's release, wearing his former college uniform. The only two exceptions have been the Wii version of NCAA Football 09, which featured Sparty, the mascot of Michigan State University, on the cover, and NCAA Football 06 when Desmond Howard was featured on the cover striking the Heisman Trophy pose during his career at Michigan, despite not playing for Michigan for more than 15 years.
Although EA Sports does not claim that the players in the game represent real life players, the jersey number, position, height, weight, home state, and ethnicity are aligned with the real players. Fans of any particular team are sure to recognize their favorite players (for example, in NCAA Football 2014, University of North Carolina Tar Heels QB #2 would correspond to QB Bryn Renner). Actual usage of a player's real name would be in violation of the NCAA's policy regarding student-athletes. Amateur "roster makers" will often manually associate player names and will upload a roster file to the built-in roster sharing system. As of the 09 release, EA has put in the EA Locker feature which allows remote roster sharing online through either Xbox Live or PlayStation Network depending on the console.

@jayandrusiak I typed it on my Samsung, although I'm not sure how that's relevant. You obviously don't know what a monopoly is. It's when one company controls the supply of a product. In this case, we're talking about football. This doesn't break the monopoly because Madden and EA College football are both made by the same company - EA. That means EA has a monopoly on football games. Now, do you understand?

Im gonna be real with myself, the fact that i haven't played a single football game since madden 04 is probably helping me enjoy this more than a lot of people.

I would encourage everyone who’s considering buying the game to download the free trial on EA Play first and make your decision from there. For me, the game is solid but not a game I would play regularly. 6 out of 10 for me.

Hot take: once the honeymoon phase ends, people are gonna grow tired of all the gameplay problems i.e. Oline letting Dline straight thru, dropped interceptions that hit thier hands, pursuit... the list grows daily
People complain about everything that's what social media is so that's nothing new. It's a great game, there's always something somebody can pick out to be upset about because they can't just cheese games like Madden

I want this game to embarrass Madden and I think it already has as far as overall a better gaming experience. At the same time, there are flaws with this game that are unavoidable to see like the lineman and players falling down in the middle of a pile like their ragdoll’s. I’m willing to give this game of the benefit of the doubt, but it’ll be more telling in the oncoming seasons how dedicated they are to improving the game every year.
I seen people saying they could patch is stuff, but this has been going on in madden for years. Pursuits are terrible linebackers turning there back to a wide open hole on a run play. The oline not even putting hands on the defensive player

When I can win 90% of my games running the same 3 plays the games bad 💀

@nolanrice2016 As a first time CFB player who's played Madden, here's my general take on Gameplay: Offense is better in CFB 25, Defense is much worse (pursuit angles are so freaking bad and tackling is funky), and Kicking is honestly the best improvement - feels realistic to me. Still I'd rather play Madden rn because I wanna be able to play at least some decent defense. Feels like a war trying to get a stop in this game 😂 so many additional forces going against you.
The gameplay sliders are useless. I experimented with the different difficulty levels:
1) Setting it to Varsity and putting all the CPU sliders to 0, and Human sliders to 100, I still get sacked all the time, CPU still completes passes at will, I still can't stop the CPU on 3rd down, and interceptions are still rare.
I want to shit in the case and send it to EA headquarters.
2K Sports should be making this game. Somethings never change 😂

plot twist: Madden 25 is a reskin NCAA 25.
No Customization, No offline Teambuilder, and the many features removed that were in former games.
The lack of customization and editing Ai generated players is very disappointing

And we all know the more they patch it, the worse it will be. When the early release dropped on the evening of July 15, the game played decently. Remember they had an overnight patch before the 16th and the gameplay has been done from that moment.
The patches ruin good beta gameplay...even with Madden. Once they start patching and fixing, it only breaks and destroys it further.
Sorry for all the College Football enthusiastics, the game is good in terms of gameplay but is very basic outside of the field. Presentation is repetitive with the same cut scenes over and over. Immersion is bad in Road to Glory and Dynasty mode. No news for others games, on others school performances during season. No EA track, no customization options, no Halftime Reports. Looks fun at the beginning but is boring on long term. A positive point is the atmosphere during College Football Playoffs against strongest team like Notre Dame, some confrontation are almost intimidating.
But unfortunately, ESPN NFL 2k5 and NCAA 14 stays absolute GOATs.
So theirs no halftime show or studio updates like their was in 14 ? Mainly dynasty

People are majorly overrating this game due to both nostalgia and hype. This is an arcade game, plain and simple. Even garbage QBs often throw for 80%, and most games have way too many INTs.
In Madden 24, I often end games with realistic stats. Even after trying tons of slider combos, I’m still seeing goofy stats in every user-played game in CFB 25.
Graphics are sub-par. Run outs are muddy, and on-field is just okay. You could tell me this is running in PS4 and I wouldn’t bat an eye.
But by FAR the worst offender here is the Pass defense. Even elite DBs play like morons. And every QB has Brady-like accuracy for the most part, making for 80% passing games out the wazoo.
Finally, if you go back and play the old games, you’ll see they awesome stadium atmospheres, including run outs that often surpassed this game, as well as things like custom stadium music (want Pantera to play on TDs? Go for it.).
Overall this is a 6/10. I’ll be playing 12 and 13 just as much as this, if not more.
Shiny and fun for a day or two, then all the cracks start showing. If you have to have it wait for a sale cuz this dog isn't worth AAA pricing, not even close.

The gameplay and graphics are good, but Dynasty Mode needs major improvements. The recruiting has many glitches and needs improved. My favorite glitch is that most 4/5 star recruits don't like it when ranked teams blow out other ranked teams. I played Georgia week 0 and won 73-10. The next week, i beat Oregon 73-20. In two weeks, the recruits' interest to join my school dropped from 1st-8th. I even used the recruiting ability. I would rate the game a 5/10 based on the bad and boring recruiting. 😂😂😂

I wish the game had every schools history from wins and losses, bowl games the school had, conference championship history of the school. And when it used to have the trophy room from rivalries, bowls, and championships. As well as player trophies. The older NCAA games had that. I missed that.

@@brandenwebb6232how can a game that doesn’t work be an 8/10? Lineman blocking is awful, pursuit angles on defense are horrendous and almost every type of coverage in this game doesn’t work. As well as the fact that sometimes you play cover 3, only for the outside corner to randomly decide to play man coverage and blow his zone. The Jet pass is overpowered and is all anyone runs, this game is hot dog 💩

I can’t believe how much I don’t like this game. I was so excited for it and I’m struggling to enjoy any aspect of it between dynasty, rtg and the actual gameplay. And it’s not even because “it’s like Madden.” It’s because the animations still just aren’t nearly as good as they were specifically in NCAA 14, and they took out so many small quality of life features that you don’t even think about until they’re gone, particularly because you never think that anybody would be so stupid as to take it out (supersim in road to glory, the camera angles being way too low to the ground, the camera not following your player when you’re running the option, etc.).
I was so excited and I just feel really depressed at how much I don’t like it and how much I wouldn’t even be playing it right now if I wasn’t actively looking for things I like.

What about the busted sim engine giving really poor results in dynasty? The on field gameplay is good but the off field stuff needs lots of work.
Yea I noticed that about simulating games, every game is close usually even if it should be a blow out on paper

Sim engine is Def Busted. Anything you do in this game Manually is Great, but if you let the CPU Auto Recruit it ends Horribly, if you sim a season you lose constantly with even an 88-89 overall team. It’s hurting the Realistic Sim Dynasty players. But the Gameplay is great fr, I can’t say that enough
@antoniobrown358 exactly how I feel. The gameplay kicks ass, outside of how far every QB throws imo haha, but for players like us who prefer the grind of Dynasty it really missed the mark
I'm 21-7 the best defense but I sim like 3 times all of a sudden its 21-24 how they made 3td in a span of a minute. 70yard passTd, 56 yard rushing 98 yard pass td all because of simulation wtf
I am sorry. If they knew how much specific teams meant to people, they wouldn't have so many teams missing from choose your favorite school. Offline create a recruit being gone is another huge miss.
Saying this game doesn’t play like Madden is just fan boys being excited for the release. I get it, it’s a new football game after 10+ years… but it’s on the same engine as Madden. They play VERY similar. The game is fun but it does not reinvent the wheel. We need a 2K football game soon

blocking logic seems off. there have been times my linemen would miss a block and continue to chased the person they missed instead of going to the next person. it is very infuriating

This will be my first CFB game and I'm looking forward to playing it. I never played the older Maddens or the older NCAAs so I'm hoping this blows me away.

You’re really missing out bro you gotta play ncaa 14 even 13 was good. But I grew up playing ncaa on ps2 they used to have a full heisman show presentation cutscenes for your player where you had a suit. We also could give our players ski masks and mouthpieces back on ps2 but they took it off. The ps2 maddens are classic too like 08 . You really missed out man !

Lack of customization to the rosters is killing me. I’ve figured a way to enjoy the game for now but no way to customize or edit is an unfortunate move by EA, especially for us Dynasty Mode players.
Yea makes no sense we can edit non nil players in the base roster but not in dynasty
@@Royrose644 because they want to continue to make it an annual game, this we pay $75 for a Roster Update to have the incoming Freshman class. It’s kinda dumb, but I’m praying they listen to community and patch in the edit rosters and any player option. We lose out on customization because of the NIL agreement.
I was so overhyped for presentation and man was it a big let down all you really get are team introductions commentary is lifeless no in-game studio updates like 14 recruiting is kind of weird I will definitely be playing back and forth with revamped all year

I think people are ignoring how bad it is because they now have a college football game. I like the broadcasters they have so they’re not the issue. It’s the lines they recorded for the play-by-play that don’t match the play or the importance of a moment. Often the timing is off with the play call or the lines they’re stitching together don’t make sense. There’s no natural feeling to the excitement or the change in tone for big place. It all sounds unnatural and definitely does not sound like they are in a press box. It sounds like they’re in some silent recording room without the ambience of a stadium in the background
I hope they clean it up because this was something they were promoting very heavily for the game came out.

This game is unacceptable. The fact we spent $100 on madden 2.0. The gameplay sucks the D line is unstoppable. Stadiums, jerseys commentary all needs to be updated ASAP. I’m done after 2 days of playing it just like madden. Fucking disappointing

No ESPN license, no studio updates with scores around the country, no halftime scores or stats around college football, can’t see the top 5 coaches with the least Job Security in Dynasty mode, can’t look at stats on the heisman screen, no mass substitutions, can’t look at team stats screen that showed leading rusher, passer and receiver. Can’t see toughest places to play. Can’t see coaching carousel new hires. All of these was in 14.

Also the full commentary crew isnt new either. Back on Madden 17-19? At halftime they had almost a full ass halftime show, cutting to the studio and having i think Reese Davis call out halftime stats from other games in the league
Really the only thing I dislike is just how ass blocking is like you have a top tier line and they will still get blown by a 1 star 59 DT 😂

I hate having to change sliders and changing the kick meter every single game in dynasty. It never saves. Nor does it save depth chart after a change is made. You have to make the SAME change each week
Sports fans need to have higher standards for their games! They constantly reward EA for screwing them over. This has been a problem for at least 20 years.

It still suffers from all the same problems as Madden: horrible O-Line play, horrible AI when it comes to angles to take to tackle a player, hitting the tackle stick will result in the tackler going down knee first and missing the tackle many times, so its better to just run into the player, the engine is still susceptible to money plays, it is still animation based tackling, players still run into each other and do weird things when they're in a bunch such as phasing through each other, too many penalties are not called, your blockers on running plays often go off to the side and do their own thing rather than block for you, and a lot of things like this that have bothered football fans about Madden over the years. These are examples of problems that have been in the Madden game engine for years and EA has done nothing about and unfortunately NCAA has inherited all of them. Fleecing the player is still the main idea and the emphasis on spending money to open packs is still there. So yes, NCAA 25 does play faster than Madden and the college coat of paint on it is really exciting at first, but once the honeymoon phase is over you will begin to see that it has a lot similarities with Madden-too many for my comfort. I guess what i'm trying to say is that this game is not the Madden alternative that I was looking for, so because of that it was disappointing for me. If you are NOT looking for a new approach to football with a game that is built from the ground up and are instead looking for the easy pick up and play experience that being familiar with the Madden system gives, then you may wind up liking NCAA 25 a lot better than I did. If all you are looking for is to play as your fave college players then you will be happy. I wanted more out of a football game and was foolish for expecting EA that would give it to me. EA will essentially be selling the same game twice a year and making double the money.
Thanks to nil ea has nerfed the customization options. Il stick to the older gen NCAA games
It's worth the price of having something pretty to look at....beyond that no.

Got to create a whole new team.
I wish the game had every schools history from wins and losses, bowl games the school had, conference championship history of the school. And when it used to have the trophy room from rivalries, bowls, and championships. As well as player trophies. The older NCAA games had that. I missed that.

NCAA 25 is a solid effort from EA.. however, the disparity in the difficulty settings are complete dogshit.

Got the EA access 10 hour trial, I will not be buying the Game at 70$. It’s good for nostalgia, Dynasty is fun but I already feel the repetitive issues. It’s definitely much better than the last 4 madden releases.
But the newest Madden just caught up to EA CB25. Because they are now the same game. The twins were just born in two different months. CB in July and now MADDEN in Auguzt
This game managed to get me hype for Madden 25 because I feel like Madden for better or worse is solidified with their foundation and they've been consistently working on improving the game year after year. I also don't like the arcade feel to NCCA, every game is on steroids, final scores and stats are insane. This game will hold me over until Madden comes out.

It’s not worth $70. Nowhere near. I’ve been on road to glory majority of my time and it’s a lot of things not making sense. I’m a starter but miss SO much playing time it’s not even funny, getting subbed for no reason. 85% of plays feel designed to have me not involved (my cb rtg specifically) EVERYTHING is to the opposite side of the field. Any time I feel like I’m starting to make a difference I get subbed out and the opponent scores. This game wants you so uninvolved in making plays in rtg it’s sad. Don’t get me started on my rb rtg experience. Game is shit

One of the most infuriating things about this game is the play choices in "Road to Glory" mode. It really takes away from the game. I don't understand why they have to make these games more "realistic". I don't play video games for realism. That's what the rest of my life is for. I play video games for cartoonish violence, unobtainable human athleticism, f*cking magic and cheat codes. I don't want my video games to have anything to do with real life.
This game's secondary defense is broken just like Madden. This is a reskin of madden.

All I ask for, to make this game a 9/10 from a 6, is let me edit players in dynasty mode. I don’t care about the NIL players. Once I get so far into dynasty they’ll be gone anyway. New recruits you still can’t edit attributes. And you can’t create a player still. 6 out 10 for me. I paid for early release hoping full access would allow editing but 👎

That’s what I’m saying. None of the BIG content creators that were hyping the game up have mentioned it at all. The only thing they say is, you can’t, but they don’t deep dive into it. I get NIL, but once those players are gone I should be able to edit generated players all I want.

Yes it is. Game could have added a few more options, but it's great for now, next year more options will added
No character creation, no stat editor, no cutscenes, no immersion, same training minigames each week and very boring. Zero immersion or free will to do anything, very good football simulator but extremely barebones with virtually any other feature. Road to glory is awful, nba live 14 career mode has more features and immersion and that is a 10 year old game universally regarded as one of the worst games of all time with least immersion and least stuff to do.

I'm not playing it until they patch in a player creator that's fully customizable and be able to be added to any team and in any game mode. EA you have catered to every sports game player except gamers like me that like to be able to play the way I like unfair.

This game is gonna die so fast. People will stop playing due to the lack of customization. You cant edit anything! Cant even create a player. This game should go for $20.
The gameplay is really good, but missed several things with the inability to edit players, change numbers, no mass substitutions, and inability to play non-user games in dynasty. Great foundation, but definitely some things that need to be added
The gameplay is my biggest gripe with the game, all of that wouldn’t matter if the gameplay was just amazing. Now I know it’s EA, and I wasn’t expecting amazing, but I’m tired of calling cover 3 (the only defense that ‘works’ in this game) and my corner will play man defense on a crossing route or play up on a 4 yard hitch and evacuate his zone entirely. Then the pursuit angles are some of the worst I’ve ever seen. gameplay is 2/10 everything else is 7/10

Man this is a good game. People want to catch every pass and run for 300 yards a game, sorry. This game is WAY BETTER than Madden and more realistic. Face it, a Western Michigan is not going to beat an Alabama, that’s how it’s supposed to be. I have ran into issues, it’s a video game. But over all this is a dope game. I love it.

Plays like usual EA games, but my main issue is kicking like how to adjust the power and the fact that the black HzBCUs are not in the game sucks, and we should not have to add the teams ourselves.

@KenKaniff-dw4jw after playing it for a while now the game needs alot of work done. Blocking is terrible. So many missed assignments. Playing defense is bad feels like the game is scripted. On heisman the cpu oline is perfect while yours continues to miss blocks. I hate that the most
