Duncan Hines is the most moist of the boxed cakes. I’m 76, widowed, and not healthy right now. When I was raising our 2 sons, I cooked 3 meals a day, kept a spotless home, served meals for guests , also made cakes from scratch. I can’t do much now( had children’s daycare on my home also) , but I haven’t a thing to feel guilty about and I’m patting myself on the shoulder for a job well done. I always cook by the recipe.

Pat, I brought my iPad here in my bedroom so I can listen whilst I make my bed, and when you were talking about how you were going to the house you grew up in I started to cry. I got to thinking about my grandma and how I would love to go there and spend summers with her. I was the safest there, and I know I was loved by her so much. You remind me so much of my grandma, I loved sitting on her couch listening to her stories. My grandma passed away when she was 98 yrs old, was 45 yrs ago. I ran away from home when I was very young. I don’t tell many people that, but I’m glad I did. If I could have lived with her I would have. Anywho, I have many wonderful memories of her and I miss her so much. I hope you don’t ever get tired of making videos and what you do matters not. My grandma passed 30 years ago at 94 and miss her so much, a part of my soul went with her when she passed. I put honey in my coffee instead of sugar. It works perfectly. But if I remember correctly, you don't drink coffee. I hope you have a wonderful day with your sister. Soak up the memories of your former home.
Instead of the cream or water in the frosting you could just mash strawberries and add powdered sugar till thick enough. It would be good on this cake n you don’t add vanilla then.
The cake looks good to me.Pat I see the milk bottle on the can’t. I tried that milk one day and boy did I love it. So now that’s the only milk I buy. I don’t cook anymore so I don’t need the heavy cream. But I sure like that milk and chocolate milk.

I just want to mention that jar, I have one just like it and it’s my favorite. I love any old jars I can find. There is just something about the old glass jars, to me they are beautiful. I have quite a few and I love it when I find another out and about and I have to bring it home to keep it safe for a few more years.🫶

Pat that cakes looks delicious! Strawberry is my favorite cake. I am like you I just used box cake mixes. You are so lucky that your sister lives in your old homeplace! I know you all will have so much fun. As far as Utah, you should look up Zion National Park, Moab and Bryce Canyon. We flew into Salt Lake City and rented a car and went all around the state. It was so pretty. Oh and also Grand Staircase Escalente National Monument.
I was glad to listen to this relaxing video! Earlier today, I really messed up and pulled open the door right across my big toe and nearly took the nail off. Ended up in the EZ Care. (Thank the Lord for those emergent care centers!). I'm gonna be okay, but that poor old toe sure hurts. Pat, you do me more good than Tylenol. You have such a relaxing way of talking to us. That cake looks good. You mentioned planting strawberries--they want $6 per plant where I live. I did start a little patch 2 years ago and it's a blessing. Granny, in truth you bring me solace & company on so many nights when I am home alone. You remind me of my lovely Grandmother who raised me as a child. She was the only person who I felt truly loved by as a child. When she passed, I was young and totally devastated & lost my whole heart. I still miss her even 25 years later, I still cry!
