It's not surprising how similar Greek and Egyptian dishes are. We literally share history
Egyptian Food is amazing as well. Speaking as a Greek. New museum showcases are showing how colorful ancient Greece was, when you look at what it looked like, wow can you see the Egyptian influence. You are just so used to seeing white marble. the actual colors were so vibrant.
Yes! 2 beautiful counties 🥰
There many Greeks of Egyptian origin

Kenneth and Myles must make their grandmas so happy, because these boys have such an appetite!
This channel always tries to respect all cultures but can we take a minute to appreciate the presentation? Such cute, simple, clean lined plates. The gold dinner wear... Only thing missing is cloth napkins and these foods could challenge 5 star restaurants. ❤️

as a greek i can tell you NOBODY eats fish in a cone, and 99.99% of the stores will laught if u ask for that
Sharon and Jair should be paired permanently
This 🔥🔥🔥😂😂
Agreed
I want to ask something to Turkish friends, first of all its ok to share foods, songs and culture generally, there is nothing bad in it in my opinion.
Where you can find honey at the steppes of Mongolia and China, how to grow wheat to produce bread products, where you can find fish of salt water there? How you can grow vegetables at steppes and use them in different foods? Where to find olive oil there ?
Yes at some foods we use Turkish words, gyros is not a Turkish word for example, souvlaki is not a Turkish word. All of these foods have ancient origins and had different names back then
Its tragic because after all these years you still view yourself as conquerors, the question is what you gave to humanity and civilization not what you stole from others.
You havent's tasted greek food until you eat it in Greece.

@@greekuroneko I'm not saying it doesn't exist. My point was that it's not that popular to be served as something representative of greek street food.
i am from Greece and i can’t tell you how happy i was seeing you finally trying greek food . Great video
I love how cosmopolitan the adults and teens are in this series. The appreciation for the foreign culture's cuisine is a beautiful thing to see.
Also: dolmades f'ing rock. Buddy's sister made me some... We've been married 27 years now. And that's no joke.
I’m Greek and I’m surprised the street food I eat everyday has all this history. I always thought of it as just street food with probably 100 year old recipes.
They should also try the Greek version of cheesecake (some claim it is the original cheesecake before the American one). Christmas delicacies such as kourampiedes and melomacarona. Also our coffee menu: Classic Greek coffee, or since Greece is a hot country they can try our alternative specialties: Frappe (ice coffee), Freddo Espresso (ice espresso) and Freddo Cappuccino (ice cappuccino). Perfect for a beach day!
Also: FISH IN A CONE??!

Really nice historical coverage around the foods, thank you sm. So cute when he said I've disrespected your culture enough hahaha. No worries, we also put cheese on Koulouri and bake it so that it becomes crispy OR you could dip it in a feta spread or cheese spread. It's a blank canvas. Do whatever and enjoy

You can buy it in Corfu since ever. Small fish or shrimps in a cone, yummy!
Authentic Greek food only in Greece and Greek taverns. Also, mostly in our homes. Our street food while it's top-notch, in every country I visited it was slightly different. due to the ingredients they're able to find in said countries. Our Gyros is specifically well, thinly sliced pork, unless you ask for chicken. Souvlaki is the stick of pork meat also into pita, like gyros. Our bakeries for breakfast after morning/evening at the beach and night at night club, when it starts getting morning you visit our bakeries. The smell alone will make your belly complain. The variety, fresh ingredients and a lot of work we put on our food, deserves first place, although always come second only after Italy cause of their Pizza and Pasta. We Greek are also second in pasta consumption with Feta cheese.
Fish cone is not a thing in Greece. It's the first time I hear something like this!

As a greek I have never seen fish in cone so they probably found one fish and chips shop and they thought its "traditional street food"
I have never tried fish in a cone and I'm from Greece
Greeks almost ONLY say OPA when something really unxpected occurs. It used to be said also during some traditional dances, but the custom has faded a bit.
Australia has the largest Greek population outside of Greece and I've grown up being surrounded by Greek food.
It's soo underrated and delicious! I am middle eastern myself so we have a lot of similarities.
If you ever want to explore more greek food I suggest my favourites; Pastitsio (beef pasta bake & Galaktoboureko (dessert made with layers of golden brown crispy phyllo, sprinkled with melted butter, filled creamy custard and topped in scented syrup).
actually, the US has a higher population of greeks than Australia!
@@asunastoe whoops I worded that wrong. Melbourne (city here) holds the first spot on the list of the cities with the largest Greek communities outside of Greece
Spot on. We don't really make dolmades every week. Gyros is junk food. Pastitsio is love. Pastitsio is life.

That tyropita is frozen. Even in Greece now is difficult to find fresh one. But if you find is ten time better. Another variety is Bougatsa. Even better than tyropita.
Also koulouri if its fresh is very good (you can find it in Aristotelous Square at 07:00)
We greeks don’t eat “fish in a cone”. We eat that when we go in a taverna with other dishes like tarama and octopus, drinking usually ouzo.
In Gyro the G is not silent.
Oh and we don’t say OPA. Opa actually means “stop” so we use OPA when we want to say to someone to stop (e.g. when someone is trying to park his car and gets very close to the wall).
I'm from Greece and I don't have eat a single time a fish in a cone
The Lebanese girl who keeps saying the food is similar it’s because Greek and Lebanese people have been in contact for thousands of years. We are neighbors. From the Phoenicians and Greeks doing trade and influencing each other to both being under Roman rule and more recently Ottoman rule. Our foods are very similar as well as the cultures (especially the Greek Orthodox Lebanese people and the Greek islanders / Cypriots)
I’m Greek and the food is great
WHO EATS FISH IN A CONE??!!!

Greek and Turkish foods are the absolute best foods ever.
What turkish food? This food is recognised as greek not turkish stop crying under greek related food videos your ansestors were from central asia not nowhere near the Mediterranean
there is no "turkish" food their cuisine is from different cultures
Thank you for your kind words.
Turkish food is Dolma, Kebab, Kofte, Adana Kofte, and Shish kabab, Turkish Tea, Turkish coffee,, Baclava and Turkish delight. Turkey's people are predominantly Caucasian and we spread our cusine to Greece who want to claim everything because it is their nature.
@@Gamaouat wrong! Turkish food is a far east Asian influence including the Dolma, shish kofta, lamachuan, hummus, yogurt, doner kebab, and Adana kofta, baclava, TURKISH DELIGHT, and Turkish Tea, and Turkish coffee.

9:15 this dude walked in the most heated debate in modern Greece and didn't even know it. Northern Greece considers gyros and meat wraps sandwiches, so when you order you say something like. "one sandwich with gyro in pita bread". Southern Greece considers them wraps, so in the 80-00s if you visited Athens for example from Thessaloniki, the store clerks would teasingly mock you when ordering. Moreover in southern Greece when you order "souvlaki" you get a pita wrap with meat in it, in northern Greece however you get a pork skewer.
Impressed on how you got the history of dolma accurately. The Ottomans named it dolma and stayed like that until current years. It is not street food, though.
