Ford Transit Camper Van Tour

  • The Transit Camper Van is built from a 2021 Ford Transit cargo van and was completed in March 2022. I built this van for myself as a traveling home/office/tool van. I decided to travel around the country working on farms, and wanted to bring my tools with me to be able to work on any projects they would have for me. I accomplished this by building out 6 long storage drawers in the back of the van custom-sized to my tools and tool boxes (I also was sure to leave a cubby for my golf clubs) For the living space I added a kitchen with a sink, induction cooktop, fridge, and plenty of counterspace, as well as a bathroom with a toilet and shower, and a bed and upper cabinet storage. It’s set up for off-grid adventures with 375 watts of solar and 300Ah of Lithium batteries as well as a 40 gallon fresh water tank and composting toilet. Carried on the back I have my trusty TW200 that allows me to go anywhere I can’t get with the van. I’ve enjoyed it for the last year but it’s time to move on to new projects so I’m excited to see someone else make memories with it!

I've been watching lots of these van tours, and I wished that everyone would say right at the beginning when they're talking about the platform they started with whether it was rear wheel drive front wheel, drive or four-wheel-drive. That is a supreme importance to. I would think many people, because without all wheel, drive, your suddenly limited in so many ways as to where you can go what you can do in different road conditions and different seasons, I know there's creative ways to get around that but if you're truly a Leifer, there's nothing like having all-wheel-drive

Great build! Curious though, why didn’t you insulate the back doors? I’m assuming you could greatly reduce your heating/cooling load by adding something there. Also, what’s up with the tools? Can’t imagine you need a nail gun often on the road…

Do you think van conversion is more profitable for your farm business? That little drawer above the table is my highlight, and the sliding Microwave too. I work on the road too. I drive a 4x4 Sprinter, need a conversion like yours, but prefer a 1200 lithium battery with quick alternator charging.🤣 Expensive?

The pips is in my way. Also was it hard to get the battery out on the driver side? So I can take the carpet out as well.

whats more awkward.... the dude ? the fact that the principal and most imprtant rear door of the transit can not be easily openned every single time that precose door we all have to open 20 times more than the one on the left.. I would had made a swing for the bike that swings the other way... the dude did not stop holding the rear right door the entire time, he holds it so much that you can totally tell that specific door is full of dents.. some of us have to make our 2015 350hd dually with very limited budgets.. so it hurts to see so much waste and bad made decicions.
