And even more so the days we have with friends and family. I know watching a video like this can hit pretty hard. But at least for me, the message it tries to convey does make me actually change my behavior. Reprioritize things. You know. Hope it had a similar effect for some of you.

I went down a bad depression spiral, hyperfixated on how little time I had left. It left me scared and unable to enjoy things, feeling like the end was right around the corner.

Don't let this comment distract you from the fact that democracy has proven itself to be a complete and utter failure. Throughout history, democracy has ruined thousands of lives due to it's corruptible nature. Democracy may pretend to be a fair and equal system of government but that is all a lie. Look at some of the democratic nations of the world. Look at the USA, a tyrannical and unstable nation with a population that has been divided due to stupid political parties. What about Libya? Libya tried to be a fair and equal nation under democracy, and dissolved into a chaotic mess. As a matter of fact, the original democratic system in Athens was completely based on privilege. When democracy was first created, you could only vote if you were a rich man. Ever since it's inception, democracy has always been corrupt. The system of democracy is an evil thing and all members of a Senate/Parliament/Congress should be executed for irreversibly fucking up the planet

When I was 29 I had a dream one night, where I saw the visual effects of warp speed in front of me, like on Star Trek. I zipped through the warp field, and a second later I was 46 years old! I woke up in a sweat! It was the worst nightmare ever! I was shaking, and soooo incredibly relieved that it was only a dream and I was 29, not 46. I looked at my 29 yr old body and thanked God it was only a dream. I knew though, that the Universe had given me that dream to illustrate how fast time moves, so that I would get off my butt and do what I came here to do. .. Now I am 71, and I gotta tell you, those years went by like the speed of light!!
Wow. Thank you for sharing this. I think I can speak for everyone in our 30s right now that this is the age where we feel young and older at the same time. My kind sir, I am currently in a freshman in high school, and I hope to enter some feild of engineering, but I don't know where to start and I worried about the math. Would you have any suggestions?
@@jamesblackwood656 hi, i know you're not asking me, but i wanted to offer some advice. keep in mind i'm only 13 rn so it might not the best. if i was you, i'd look at opportunities my school provides. see if there's an engineering or STEM club you can enter at your school. maybe your school has connections with a career center you can look at? my brother is 16 and he's taking heavy machinery classes at our local career center. he signed up through the school. if you're worried about math, i would tell someone who can help you, like a teacher. maybe you can get a tutor (if you can afford it or if one's available to you) and they can help you improve your skill. another thing you could do is reach out to your school's guidance counselor (if you have one). they're the go-to people for this kind of stuff because they can set you up for success and help you be ready for a career. i hope this helped :) good luck!
How did you find a job rn…
@@jamesblackwood656College sophomore in Calc 2 here.
My biggest mistake was letting things go in one ear and out the other like with history and English. I could score 90s on tests in precal and trig wasn’t horrible, so I assumed I’d do fine in Calculus to.
You’ve gotta have ALL your ducks in a row once you get to Calculus. If you’re good with math, just keep doing what you’re doing, and maybe watch some videos here and there on different things to keep yourself refreshed. If not, it’s just something you’ve gotta throw yourself at and spend time with until it’s so drilled into your head that it’s basically muscle memory.
If you can, try to make some friends in your math classes to do the work with. It helps to have other people around to bounce ideas off of and point out mistakes with. You’re gonna learn a lot better by working out those mistakes as you have them than you would trying to save them all up for your teacher after class.
Happy birthday

Best channel together with The Exoplanets Channel !!
There is this stupid stoic calendar that has the amount of weeks you may live (average is like 75 years) and you're supposed to mark every week until you get to 75 years. I think it makes you basically stress about life rather than enjoy it. Like i get the idea behind it (don't think you have infinite time to do things you like) but you shouldn't panic about it either
I would actually want it. It would probably make me see how many weeks did I spend in misery, which could open my eyes and motivate me to live the life I want.

RUclips: WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE?
I think chilling on your day off is a worthwhile endeavor.
Life is really weird because everyone has their own preconceptions of what we should and shouldn’t be doing but when you stop and you’re by yourself and you really think about it, everything seems pointless. Things that push you forward, things that keep you in place, it just seems like the point of living is to be alive and we shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves. The only person that can answer what you want to do with your life is you. that’s why I get so frustrated when I ask myself what I wanna do and I don’t have an answer.
@@theuglyducklingisgodlevelt6104 You should ask yourself what you enjoy and do just that. Enjoying your life is the sole purpose it has.

This was far more depressing than I expected it to be. Life is short.
I realized that recently when I calculated how long it would take to finish college and get to the point I want to be at in my life afterwards. It honestly made me get rid of the idea of filling my life with work because of how pointless it was.
But, on a cosmic level, unimaginably valuable, because most of the universe is void and inanimate. We are extraordinarily lucky to be surrounded by so much life.

Jesus Christ, im just going to die be forgotten and be nothing great to no one. I have a lot of self doubt, scared of growing up, ending up in a small rented apartment being depressed. Im useless in society and forever will be. Life is just about getting a job and getting controlled by governments thats it. Did you guys know that "dreams" and "goals" is really just you getting a job, thats it. You doing your "dreams" and acomplishing it really just makes you money to survive which is just a job. I have a lot of pressure when I hear mom talk about going to a "high school" or my "career" because I don't know what highschool im going to I really don't want to mess up my life, i pick a direction, might fail and waist time of my life. Also the thing people say "you can do anything you set your mind to" is people who are naive or maybe just want you to be happy, forget about the important stuff and worry later. That term is not 100% true, a woman went to highschool worked hard to be an employee for the rest if her life but she failed and lost a career. Im afraid that will happen to me because I have my mind set on something but im too scared to tell my parents, what if they doubt me i dont want to be embarassed by them and ill literally do ANYTHING i mean ANYTHING to get what i want ill work so hard 24/7 im not lazy I'd do ANYTHING for it. And what i want is to be rememberd, accomplish something great like invent something or break world records, be an idol to people. I just dont want to die, life passing on over me i want to be something great in life like albert einstein, he's like the smartest person that has ever lived, Michael Jackson, well of course he's a GOD, george Washington, well he's history... Michael Jordan, hes a pro basket ball player, donated millions and owns great things. I don't know where and how to start, i could follow that path, make it, live happily ever after Or I can go to that path fail, waist half of my life and end up being a waiter to make enough to survive... @@ittihat1555 "you choose what you want to be."
These words do not apply to the planet I live in. You don't choose what you want to be, your marks choose what you are going to be. Your parents choose what you are going to be. And most of the times, you don't become what you yourself chose to be, and there are tens of reasonable answers to that such as the pressure from society and all.
Many times, it is also said "you shouldn't care what society says."
Rubbish. You are forced to listen to the society because you are a part of that society. It is like you have signed up for a service but don't agree with their terms and conditions. You can't sign up.

Don't worry, you also give us horrors.
You don't hear about 'third life crises' that often but I am now having one. Cheers.

Ah yes, I was just looking for something to make my depression worse
I cannot thank you enough for the motivation this video gave me, and most likely gave many other people.
But DAMN Kurzgesagt way to cause an existential crisis, but most importantly a big reality check which I thank you for
I might not have as much time left as a baby does, but this sure made me cry like one.

This video was recommended to me two years after it was released... days after my younger brother died suddenly.
We were planning to meet again in October after not seeing each other for almost 15 years, and now the last time we saw each other will always be that time 15 years ago.
Thank you Kurzgesagt, this really put things in perspective, even if it does hit hard
Fuck me I was just about to go to bed now I'm having a full blown existential crisis. Thanks Kurzgesagt!

Here's the brutal truth my friend:
It's better to face the shattering truth than live in denial your whole life, just because of the risk that you might wake up at some point in your life and realize you've been living a lie while it's it's too late to do something about it. From the second you finish reading this, you can do something about it.
I'm sure you'll find your way. For the chance you don't, at least know you tried. That's life!
Me, a fool: We must be getting to the positive spin any minute now. Annnny minute now. . .
If you have always positive feelings they gonna get normal for you
Realizing that our time is limited and precious *IS* the positive spin.

Very insightful video, and yes make sure you check in on your family from time to time, even just a phone call. Cause one day it will be too late. I was at least fortunate to talk to my dad the night before he passed. Life is what you make of it people, remember!

I really can’t watch this video. I’m having terrible anxiety over time & death lately because I had an epiphany of all my thoughts January 3rd this year. I’m 24 and turning 25 in May. I look back on my life up to now and see so many miracles and blessings and peace. My parents are the greatest parents I could know & I love them so much, realizing they age too hit me like a the biggest truck that could ever truck. I cried so many days in a row & now experience anxiety over time & death nearly daily. The point of this video I understand through the comments is to appreciate the time you have, because it’ll be gone but it’s still hard to grapple with. Seeing the comments of people all over the age spectrum share their struggles has been helpful since it’s nice knowing we’re all in this boat together. But it still sucks man. I wish I could play God sometimes & give the people I love infinite time & infinite health. But we don’t get that ability. I think that’s sad. But it’s the best sort of sad of all the sads you get because it’s the type where you mourn the loss of a good thing. Which i guess is the better alternative. Anyways I’m rambling. I hate time & hate numbers. I’m trying to slow down time & spend it wiser with my family now since I won’t have them forever. Hopefully if there’s a heaven (I hope there is) I’ll see them again, and that’s comforting. But until then we only know this one life. And I see them now in it, and I’ll keep pushing aside my pride/ego/fear to spend this life loving them and appreciating them. It’s hard, but I think it’s worth it. If anyone else out there is suffering similarly with anxiety and crippling fear of being behind in life/losing those you care about/wasting your time. I’m right there with you. And I hope that gives slight comfort in knowing you’re not alone. And that it’s always worth it to keep living. Life is short, but it’s also long. Kinda crazy. Love you strangers, love matters
It's the fact life has an end that gives it meaning. Our planet cannot simply sustain so many if we wouldn't cease to live one day. Don't be sad it's over, be thankful it happened.
I think this is the most “EXISTENTIAL CRISIS ALERT” video kurzgesagt has made so far.

This is really eye opening. As a 15 year I'm about to be a junior and next thing I know in college. It makes me realize I should really spend more time with my family.
Lean into the anxiety. Remember that anxiety developed to drive us away from something or towards something else. Without anxiety nobody does anything. Feel the anxiety and enjoy it. Let it drive you forward to achieve your dreams sooner rather than later.

Man, as a teenager that's almost out of high school, that whole parent thing hit hard.
As someone's who's well past their teen years. And high school feels like a life time ago.
Please spend and truly appreciate moments with your family and friends before you end up too busy for any of that.
Weeks without seeing them will turn to months, then years. You think "how can I not see them for that long" life truly keeps you so occupied
Derek Grier funny you mention that as I've found my family annoying and hard to be around the last few years. But now I want to aprpeciate it more.

I'm in Year 12, just months away from doing my HSC (final exams in Aus) and my god, I know exactly what you mean. Time just flew and knowing I won't be able to see my best friends and the teachers that I've ended up loving on a daily basis? ... it hits hard man

I turn 22 tomorrow and got this recommended and this hits hard. I had to move out and support myself by working at the age of 17 which was tough, the past few years have been intense but life truly has changed.
To everyone out there who's younger and struggling and feels trapped and scared, hang in there. It sucks, and it will be hard, but there's a life on the other side if you keep going. This doesn't mean everything will be magically better, or you'll just get over what happened, but it will not be the same as it is now and you can achieve change. You're not as weak as you feel ❤

Overcoming our fear of death may be the most important thing we do in life.
It's meant to remind you to make the most of your life.
But if you believe in God you will have eternal life
This made me think of my Father, who is no more. And all of my family who are around, but who we meet rarely because we stay so far away. The important parts of our life which we all somehow take for granted.
