Nice video of a really long train! This was a standard stop. In an emergency stop the air pressure is dumped and you can hear the air release followed very quickly by squealing brakes. My understanding is that when this happens the train cannot start moving again until the compressor in the locomotive builds sufficient pressure down the entire train line to release the brakes, which can take quite a while. In a standard stop the engineer applies the brakes with a reduction in pressure. The remaining air in the tank on each car is then used to release the brakes. Also if you look at the suspension on the cars you can see that the springs are not compressed, indicating that these cars are likely empties. In an emergency stop, a train full of unladen cars can stop far more quickly than this train did.

Also, I’ve known of instances where NS
crews had to walk their train, which means a much longer stop! Or probably any railroad would have to in
some cases. Don’t know what all the
instances are, but one is if the air
    pressure doesn’t start to recover
quickly when the engineer releases the brakes.

That wasn't a emergency stop. You'd hear the air brakes dump.

After this was filmed, word got out that every covered hopper within 1200 miles was missing. Nah it wasn't an emergency stop cause if it were, it would take until dark for the compressors to refill all those air tanks.

LOL. No. It would take longer but not that much longer.

That's no emergency stop. It would be screeching otherwise.

Couple wrong things here. First the train did NOT make an emergency stop. It was a controlled stop and if it were an emergency stop it would not have started back up that quickly. Second part is you ILLEGALLY trespassed on railroad property. Being a foamer does not grant you permission to trespass on railroad property

I don’t agree that he illegally trespassed onto railroad property, but he lied about UP, CSX, and NS making an emergency stop
