- Just a short video today on how to update the firmware on the Snapmaker 2.0 3-in-1 3D printers. I've seen a few people posting in the Facebook group that they were having a hard time doing it, so I thought I'd put this one together.
If you're updating from v1.10.0 or newer firmware, you should have no issues after upgrading to the newest version. Just upgrade and carry on as normal. If you're updating from an older version of the firmware, though, upgrading might result in a full system reset. So, you'll probably need to go through your bed levelling procedure again.

John how do you remove the print files from the luban app, everytime i turn on the machine all the last prints end up ready to print again and you have to take them off manually, i cant find anywhere on the app to delete them.
I'm not really sure, I use Cura for 3D printing and haven't really messed with Luban. I installed it, but don't really use it. I noticed the same thing whenever I loaded it up that it had the last model I loaded in there, too, but didn't look into how to prevent that. Will do some digging when I get time. :)
@@JohnAldred Thank you john much appreciated mate :)
Hi john, i managed to figure it out, when the files are sent to the build plate you just place your icon on the item to be built and right click and that deletes the files, of course if there,s more than one item on the plate you just do the same thing for each item :)
Thanks for making this nice content!
You're very welcome! :)
I cannot believe I did not notice the temperature being set to 0. A while back I replaced my nozzle with a tungsten carbide, everything was printing fine then after about 15 layers the print looked like the heat had turned off. the filament stripped out, but the print showed what looked like cooling over the course of 1 or 2 layers. I thought that the nozzle had a higher heat dissipation and I took it off, I have not put it back on yet, but now I know why it happened because of this video. Thanks again John! Once I finish my Solar install project hopefully I'll be able to dive into my SMA350 a bit more!
Sometimes, mysteries just solve themselves! haha. Good luck when you try again! :)
Thanks John! I'm so glad that they have fixed this problem. I think you have become the go to video source for people that want Snapmaker specific 3D printing advice and I hope you keep it up! You're doing great!
Hey, thank you, that's very kind of you to say :)
I have some free time over the weekend, gonna give this a try. Thank for the tutorial.
No problem, good luck! :)
Thank you for helping me updated my Snapmaker 2.0 Just got it updated.
You're welcome, I'm glad it helped! :)
thank you for helping us who don't know how to update their machines
thankyou and god bless you
You're welcome, Marwan! I'm happy it helped :)
John,
Thanks for the videos, I appreciate the content and you’ve done a great job detailing the content.
Thank you sir,
Dave Newman
Thank you, David! You're very welcome :)
Great Video John Question? Doing a Benchy print and looking for settings to test out the printer. I printed the Vase and it came out great! What settings do you recommend to test?
Besides Benchy, I usually run retraction tests, do a couple of tests to check dimensional accuracy and then just start printing and see how they go. I would calibrate your linear advance (Teaching Tech has a really good video on how to do that). I'm not sure what settings Luban allows you to change, but check out the Cura PLA profiles I made for the Snapmaker 2. There's a link to them in the description and I'll be releasing TPU and PETG ones in the coming weeks. :)
Have you had an issues with a warped bed? I had to use post-its to get it right. Took me while to figure it out. I had a hard time printing medium and larger prints.
I haven't had any issues with mine, but I've seen a lot of people posting in the groups about theirs. I haven't needed to recalibrate my machine since I built it up in October, and I'm a little afraid that if I mess with it, I'll screw it up and not be able to get it printing as well as it is right now again (at least not without a lot of effort). At some point, though, I do plan to look into it and see if I can figure out exactly where the issues may be that people are having (is it uneven thickness on the build plate? Is the bed itself warped? Is it the frame? Is it just uneven thermal expansion?) and how to solve them.
Great video. I would love to update but I'm kinda afraid - from what i was reading through forums there was always introduced some major issue every update .. is current version safe to update finally? :)
Well, I've not tried the latest firmware with CNC or laser yet, but for 3D printing it seems to be working very well. 1.10.0 was working great for me except for the one bug I mention in the video and now that's fixed. I haven't seen any new issues pop up yet with it when printing. :)
Can't save printhead calibration, how do I fix this
There is no firmware version on my A150 2.0???
I've noticed that a few people have said their machine isn't showing a firmware version. I think this means it's probably an old firmware. So, you should be able to update using the USB stick method. :)
Question. I touched the stepper motors on the printer vertical linear modular. Is it normal to feel quite hot? I know they are stepper motors and all.
They will get quite warm, yeah. They can handle a LOT of heat before it causes any kind of issue, though.
@@JohnAldred oh thank god lol!! I had my work speed at 230% (testing speeds) and was worried
@@JohnAldred what’s the max temp?
Typically at least 80°C, some way beyond that. You'd have to check with the manufacturer.
How about getting full bed range on a350?
I don't know what you mean? I get the full build volume on the A350.
Except there is literally no Firmware Update button on mine!
Any luck with it yet? Which printer, specifically, do you have?
