Everyone needs a good go-to scud pattern in their box! Scuds can be a great food source for trout, and oftentimes they target naturals that are really really small. Because we want the proportions to be spot on, we have eliminated extra materials like scud back and wire that might make the fly too heavy. I’ve fished this style a lot in stillwaters and the fish whole heartedly agree that it looks good enough to eat. Feel free to make these in sowbug colors, or even with an orange egg sac

I do one thing extra, because it looks so cool. I tie in a x-small wire of black or blue and wrap the wire after the first coat of resin but before the second coat of resin. Looks like veins.
PS Love the videos. WISH it was from the tyer's perspective which would be taking it to the next level for me :)

Solarez started out as a uv surfboard repair resin in the 90’s, so maybe they put FLY TIE on it to discern it from that? Also, maybe it was cheaper for them to use larger font and less letters when designing the labels?🤷🏻‍♂️😂
