That addit at the hematite outcropping turnout is still there. Checked it out yesterday on the way to the [last remaining] GPAA claim up there. No way my 6-2/220 trained coward body was going into that hole. Crushed up a few samples from the area for nodda, but it was really cool to see. Only a trickle of water this time of year but getting out in the dirt for a while was still awesome. At the claim in the wash, found a few specks of flour down DEEP. Nothing shallow. Had better luck with a few small flakes in the canyon on the north corner of the claim. Area's been worked to death but definitely worth the trip for local GPAA members. Bring good gloves and shoes. Broken glass and shell casings literally everywhere.
I used to go up there to shoot a little too but hate all the bullets richishay all over the place, all it takes is 1 to zip by and catch you in the grape and it's over. Hated that, can't relax if your panning either .

Dang Jeff. Another area that I know so well. You are by the West end Gun Range off Lytle Creek Road. . I was rock hounding there last year with my family and my dogs splashing in the water. Fun times. I will have to check it when I go visit my family in Ontario. Keep up the good work...SON!!
@Ask Jeff Wiilliams What about near Fresno? Was the area overlooked because Fresno wasn't established until the post-gold rush & was basically a desert? I know Friant Dam's construction between 1937 and 1942 in which Lost Lake minerals were used & as stated by Kellie Helton "In the late 1930s, crews began working to quarry rock and cement in an area that was later turned into the Lost Lake Recreation Area. During the quarrying process, about 357 pounds of gold was found in the sand and gravel between 1940 and 1942."

Also, after watching your videos, i got "The Fever". I bought a detector...went with an AT Gold, Son. Love your videos... thanks for the new hobby. I'll never look at rocks the same again ... "Pa ? I hid the gold Pa, just like you said..."
Long time ago I use to go shooting out there. Didnt know there was gold out there. but then again didnt know you could still get gold back then. thing would have been a lot different for me.
Drool. Everywhere I've been tocheck in Washington was already claimed than where I think their just might be ends up flour gold. Alot of work for that stuff. Your vids sir are always informative. Thank-you
you should make a video on panning for gold in places that aren't known to have gold I know it's breaking probably the biggest rule of gold mining to search in places that nobody has ever found gold before but what if you're the first one to find the gold? sure, everybody's been looking for over a century but thanks to modern techniques we are able to find a lot more gold and who can say if the old timers would tell anyone if they found gold? I'm sure you think it's crazy, but I myself found a tiny little nugget of gold probably worth only 10 cents the first time I went panning after searching my own area for indicator minerals. That being said, if my area has any significant gold, it'll be way too deep to get because the bedrock is about 100 feet down and even then, it's limestone and shale
"Run to the hills", Was it from Gold Maiden ? I cant remember, HEAVY METAL anyway !!! Last week I tried to go prospecting too high in my mountains, the ground was frozen, impossible to digg unfortunately. As always what you show is very interesting about geology and nice landscape too
Dear Mr. Williams, I have a surefire way for you to find easy gold: give paid tours for would-be prospectors. I've made every mistake you can make as a gold panner and prospector, and have found absolutely nothing after many tries. I'm sure many people would pay a decent fee to be shown in-person where to look and how to be productive in gold prospecting. Just a thought. Thanks for the videos, they're very informative.
Jeff, i always enjoy the new videos. I live in northern Colorado, i can find gold if i am willing to work, but, where i am at we also have kimberlite with known diamond deposits. Do you ever do anything with finding diamonds? I wouldn't know a kimberlite deposit if i busted my shin on it.
Hi Jeff ! Love your metal music inspired "edutainment" ! Maybe someday JB & Cagey (Tenacious D) can join in your quest for the AU, at the "Tribute" Mine, using the "Pick of Destiny" !
Hello Jeff. i really enjoy your videos. i am new to California gold prospecting and desert prospecting. trying to prospect the otay mountain area (dulzura area) since it is near my house. do you have any advice for finding gold out in that area.
I let this little nugget simmer over the camp fire for a spell. Developed a nice crusty patina, it was worth the wait! I just love it when learnin is FUN! Thank You Jeeeeff Wiiiiiiiiilliams!
Now I don't feel so bad. I thought it was just me not finding much gold at Lytle Creek. Jordan Bullo has some secret spots up there where he has found some good gold. Awhile back he was going to take me to one of his spots, but I got stuck in the stupid SoCal freeway traffic and didn't make it in time to meet up with him.
Why is not safe to swim in the water pools and floodings of a deep mine that has met the water table? What are the hazards of that? Thumb up on this fun explore, educational. Thank you.
Hay Jeff. been watching for a while now love your style, Had an interesting thought about that closed fences mine Texas hill mine area, ,,so why don't the owners just charge a fee and let people mine it.. does anyone ever do that? let you go mine on their claim? maybe give them a percentage?
Jeff: is this area Lytle Creek near Devore off I-15? It looks familiar, use to pan there and also do target shooting if that is the same canyon you and i are talking about? Great video as usual!

I’m going to Piru this week is there anything work looking for?
Jeff, while driving the other day I had an idea that I think might be a decent, simple way to separate gold, silver, or platinum. Basically a sharp cone open at the wide end, at the top, filled with water. Suspend the cone with a light automotive coil spring. Attach a slightly oval pulley to the side of the cone, and another pulley to the frame of the sorter. Run a belt between the pulleys.
Dump in shovels full of dirt, and then turn the pulley. A motor would be best, but you could do it with a windmill, exercise bike, or by hand.
The oblong pulley wheel would jiggle and shake the whole cone full of dirt and water. Heavy material would settle.
Every now and then, just shovel the least dense dirt out of the top, then add more unsorted dirt.
Eventually, you would end up with a large mass of the densest materials at the bottom of the cone.
Have you ever seen a separator like that? I suppose a dry separator could work on the same principle, but I imagine that the water displacement of lighter minerals would help separate low and high density materials.
I also imagine that a heavy brine solution might be even better for separation.
I have no way to test this, and all I know about gold mining comes from RUclips videos. Figured I would poke you and see if you had any thoughts.

I love when you do banjo and metal !!
The music for the gold trail!
Great heavy metal intro from Iron Maiden !!!
Great place to gig and pan for gold.
Thanks CR

Always entertaining and very educational.
The amount of knowledge you have regarding geology and mining is always impressive, it boggles ones mind why you carry on like a lunatic

A pan a classified and a shovel. And some internet location research you’ll find it. :)
I enjoyed this WAY TOO MUCH! I live in the area. My husband is gonna be so irritated with me when I try to drag him to Lytle Creek this weekend.
Hey Jeff , i noticed you've used Run to the Hills a few times and some other "heavy" songs, you should look up "Steve -n- Seagulls"...i think you'd like it. Also, after watching your videos, i got "The Fever". I bought a detector...went with an AT Gold, Son. Love your videos... thanks for the new hobby. I'll never look at rocks the same again ... "Pa ? I hid the gold Pa, just like you said..."
We have used there version too along with many others...... Good detector Thanks.... hahhahahha Lol I remember that.
Long time ago I use to go shooting out there. Didnt know there was gold out there. but then again didnt know you could still get gold back then. thing would have been a lot different for me.
Your taste in metal (musical and geological) continues to be excellent.
thanks
Drool. Everywhere I've been tocheck in Washington was already claimed than where I think their just might be ends up flour gold. Alot of work for that stuff. Your vids sir are always informative. Thank-you
you betcha
Needed an energy boost and bam! Up pop's your video!
Thanks Tammy
you should make a video on panning for gold in places that aren't known to have gold
I know it's breaking probably the biggest rule of gold mining to search in places that nobody has ever found gold before but what if you're the first one to find the gold?
sure, everybody's been looking for over a century but thanks to modern techniques we are able to find a lot more gold and who can say if the old timers would tell anyone if they found gold?
I'm sure you think it's crazy, but I myself found a tiny little nugget of gold probably worth only 10 cents the first time I went panning after searching my own area for indicator minerals.
That being said, if my area has any significant gold, it'll be way too deep to get because the bedrock is about 100 feet down and even then, it's limestone and shale
good idea
"Run to the hills", Was it from Gold Maiden ? I cant remember, HEAVY METAL anyway !!!
Last week I tried to go prospecting too high in my mountains, the ground was frozen, impossible to digg unfortunately. As always what you show is very interesting about geology and nice landscape too
Thanks and yes it was.
Iron Maiden "run to the hills" love it... Jeff you have a good ear for music.
Madien with the solo! Love it! Great intro!
I know i am tardy to the party commenting on a old video, but what about finding cold on the central coast? Like the old La panza mining district
Somebody please give this guy his own show, it would the best ever
thatrs what I am saying
Sunny Jim, did Slim bring the Gold Bug?...Looks like a good place to hunt..And yes you did get wet..Most excellent Video..
yes and thanks
Mr. William's, have you planned or search for gold in Henniger Flats in SoCal?!!
not yet ...been to San Gabriel a lot
Jeff, i always enjoy the new videos. I live in northern Colorado, i can find gold if i am willing to work, but, where i am at we also have kimberlite with known diamond deposits. Do you ever do anything with finding diamonds? I wouldn't know a kimberlite deposit if i busted my shin on it.
nope we don't mess with Diamonds....
I got my sluice box underwear on and I am headin for the hills to find that gooooooooooollllllllld!
Hi Jeff ! Love your metal music inspired "edutainment" ! Maybe someday JB & Cagey (Tenacious D) can join in your quest for the AU, at the "Tribute" Mine, using the "Pick of Destiny" !
Oh man. Tommyknockers, worm people and claim jumpers. Poor Jeff never gets a break 😆
hi Jeff Williams I found these red strips of red dirt probably 200ft long full off pyrite in it what does this mean?
I live not to far from Blue Cut and would love to know where to look.
there is Gold at the corner bend
Hello Jeff. i really enjoy your videos. i am new to California gold prospecting and desert prospecting. trying to prospect the otay mountain area (dulzura area) since it is near my house. do you have any advice for finding gold out in that area.
I let this little nugget simmer over the camp fire for a spell. Developed a nice crusty patina, it was worth the wait! I just love it when learnin is FUN! Thank You Jeeeeff Wiiiiiiiiilliams!
you betcha
!RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR!!! Come on lets GOooooooooooO!
Larry .......Nope not much there .....better over at Blue Cut.... wait for East Fork ....gonna head up to the lost Horseshoe mine.
Why is not safe to swim in the water pools and floodings of a deep mine that has met the water table? What are the hazards of that? Thumb up on this fun explore, educational. Thank you.
a lot of issues with that ....O2 depletion ....Co2 release ....false floor..... acidic water ect
Plus points for the Maiden background.
Hay Jeff. been watching for a while now love your style, Had an interesting thought about that closed fences mine Texas hill mine area, ,,so why don't the owners just charge a fee and let people mine it.. does anyone ever do that? let you go mine on their claim? maybe give them a percentage?
Jeff: is this area Lytle Creek near Devore off I-15? It looks familiar, use to pan there and also do target shooting if that is the same canyon you and i are talking about? Great video as usual!
Hi Ray ...yep that be the one
I've actually hunted in some of the areas you filmed in Sony Jim. I almost know exactly where you wher walking during this video. Lol
Ever since I've been getting more knowledgeable watching your shows...I've been getting more and more anxious to pick at them hills off the side of the road...is that even legal in California though??
Yep....
I knew those mountains looked really familiar in the beginning lol
